1. Please add automated color bar, separation color information - Print PDF output

   Hi! I am missing a choice in PDF save or export. In the print industry is needed to add colour information for the customer, what colours is the artwork made from - esp. when we use solid colours. Customers need this for the approval process so we have to add this colour-bar manually. In the PDF (composite PDF) window there are Marks and Bleed choices, but there is missing a choice to choose a colour information automatically generated from the document colours - separations. The colour information can be graphical (squares with separation names) or text based (separation name in that colour).

2. Stretching objects

   A stretch function allows to e.g. move a door in a wall. The door is moved, one wall is enlarged and the other wall is shortened. This is done by drawing a box through the walls and around the door, and then by moving the selection. Object that are completely within the selection are moved. Object that cross the selection box are stretched.

3. A keyboard shortcut option for "Redefine Graphic Style" in the Appearance panel's menu

   I have shifted to a very Graphic Style-focused workflow lately and find myself constantly hitting this menu item when I'm figuring out exactly what a Style should look like. I would like to be able to assign a shortcut to it.

   It is currently nowhere to be found in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel. It is also one of the many, many actions in Illustrator that can't be recorded in an Action.

   There's a lot of menu items in Illustrator's panels that have these problems and it would be great to have a general fix for all of them, but this is the one whose lack is bugging me the most lately.

5. Double click Blend in Appearance to edit Blend parameters

6. Expand toolgroup on hover instead of long-click

   Holding a mouse button to open a tool group can be not preferred way for some users that have experience in other software packages. It would benefit them and others if Illustrator will provide an option and a delay in Preferences to open these with just a mouse hovering over tools.

8. Place all pages of a PDF or AI file as links - same as InDesign

   Working at a design studio, we create digital proofs that are set up on a template so our proof pages all look streamlined. We use one working file (.AI) and place that file as linked images into a separate proof file (.AI).

   Currently you can only place one page of the AI or PDF file at a time. This can be really tedious when there are a dozen or more images we want to place. We like to maintain the link so that we don't need to export files to relink to the proof file every time we want a new proof.

   The place feature in InDesign is exactly what I'm looking for: choosing my working AI file, "loading" the pointer with every artboard/page, and dropping all of them into our proof file in one swing.

9. Tool nesting groups

   I'm on a laptop. With the nested tools off to my right you can organize them to be in little clusters when you use them. Its great. When you have the three window options for color / gradient / swatches it would be nice to be able to click and drag a swatch onto the tab of one of the nested sets for a second and have it switch to the underlying window. For example, you drag a swatch square onto the gradient tab and then you could drop the swatch color right into the gradient slider. Now, you have to have 2 separate tabs to perform drag and drop. Anyway, the program is awesome and I have loved it for years.

10. Delete unused empty layers

    Would love to have the possibility to delete unused layers in Illustrator (like you can delete unused colors very quickly).

    e.g. when you have 100 layers and only 10 layers have objects on them, but you don't want to delete every layer manually

11. Display resolution - custom field in Document Setup and the links panel.

    Display resolution should be a custom field in Document Setup and the Links panel, and should set the default scaling of placed images in the document.

    Right now, linked or embedded 'RasterItems' have a default scaling resolution of 72ppi, and you can't change it. But 72ppi is an anachronism, it doesn't reflect most use cases.

    The impact is that placed images appear in the document much too large, and it wastes a lot of extra clicks to resize placed images. That could all be avoided if there was a simple way to change the default display resolution to match the resolution for the intended output, whether it's a screen, print or whatever.

    Note - I'm not talking about document raster effect settings, that's a different - but related - thing. The raster effect settings resolution should follow the display resolution - while remaining a separate option.

    Also, for the sake of clarity, not I am NOT talking about the resolution of the Illustrator user's display. That's... not relevant.

12. Advanced Blend Colors Horizontally / Vertically

    • make it work with compound paths
    • give the user a choice to blend HSB (Blending R and B should give G) e.g. creating a rainbow should be possible with blending colors, but it isn't in the current version.

13. Feedback on Invite to edit Feature (in Beta now)

    In our next feature update as part of cloud documents in Illustrator, we bring to you the “Invite to Edit” feature that is intended to help you share and collaborate with others.

    What is it?
    Collaborate with others with the Invite to Edit feature. Share your cloud document with other collaborators so that they can also edit your document. Find documents that others have shared with you in a new section called “Shared with you” which you can find on the Home Screen. You can also easily take a non-cloud document and convert it into a cloud document in order to take advantage of this collaboration feature.

    Feature details:
    1. To invite another user(s):
    Create or open a cloud document
    Click on the Invite to Edit icon in the app header.
    Type in the email address of the person you want to invite to edit your document. To test this out, please only invite others that currently in the prerelease program; otherwise, they will be unable to access this prerelease experience.
    Optionally, you can also add a message
    Send — an email will now be sent to the recipient(s).

    1. To access documents that are shared with you, go to the ‘Shared with you’ tab from the Illustrator homescreen where you can find all documents that have already been shared with you.

    2. Collaborators cannot edit the document at the same time. Only one user may edit the document at a time or a conflict may occur. If a conflict occurs, a copy of the Cloud document will be generated.

14. About Adobe Illustrator Font Microscopic

    The Adobe technician I was IMing asked me to go to "About Adobe Illustrator" to read the version I was using and the font was 2pt font. It will not increase using the "Ctrl +" option either. Please save us from needing thicker glasses and make it an 8 pt font at least.

15. Effects ( fx ) drag and drop

    Just like in Abode Indesign, when you apply an effect to type or object all you have to do is drag & drop the "fx" icon in the appearance bar to the type or object you wish to apply that effect to.

    Adding this same feature will increase productivity when adding multiple effects and create a more cohesive work from program to program.

    Sometimes we need messages such as 'You locked art won't be moved' as warning messageboxes, and sometimes you'd prefer them don't interrupt you. While the 'Don't show again' seems like a good solution, the only way to bring it back when you switch to the task that depends on this error message, is to reset ALL warnings.
    Meanwhile, Ai can display messages as popups — like the 'All assets exported' (in green 'confirmtion' color) or 'Shape expanded' when live rectangle/ellipse is modified (in gray neutral color). I like these a lot. What if you change these alert messageboxes into yellow/orange popups? And somehow give us a way to manage all messages in a list? Like, I want these to be messageboxes, those to show popup and others to never show anything.

17. your default workspace is completely off point of the tools illustrators need close at hand

    hey, folks, I've been using Illustrator continuously (and intensely) since 1987. Every time I make a transition to a new Mac and load a fresh copy of the Creative Suite, I'm frustrated by the task of rebuilding the essential palette of tools that need to be close at hand in Illy for max productivity — color, stroke, character, align + pathfinder, layers . . . your out-of-the-box defaults have it all wrong. Makes me wonder: do any of you people actually use this product for making stuff in the day to day? And good god, please stop with the scrubby zoom default. Zoom to a marquee is SO much more accurate and efficient!

18. Drag a layer onto the Library panel

    After converting an image to outlines with Image Trace then expanding it I wanted to drag this onto the library... it did not let me.

    I would assume the same functionality as copy and paste into Photoshop when when I drag it on the library it would ask if i want it to be smart object, or bitmap etc..

20. Show Contentpreview in hidden layers

    When you hide a layer, the contentpreview in the little square in the Layers Panel is hidden. Finding a specific layer is terrible when it’s hidden (you only see the layers name).

    That makes absolutely no sense to me and has no benefit that I can think of, to the contrary.

    Please make it at least an option, or just make the Layerpreview always visible. I can see that it’s hidden when I see the eye canceled on the right, no need for more indication that its hidden.
