  1. Provide an option for making artboard names / numbers visible on the artboard (like when editing artboards)

    Provide an option in Adobe Illustrator to show artboard names and/or numbers on the artboard / on top of the artboard (like when editing artboards). This visible naming would greatly help to keep artboards organized in large, multiple artboard files. This would be so helpful!

    Option to create and manage groups of multiple elements inside Symbol panel, Graphic Styles and Paragraph Styles panels, just like we already have in Swatches panel.

  4. Spark icons in Illustrator

    With the icons in Adobe Spark being free to use, and especially now that we have the ability to save files from Spark as a PDF, I've found myself utilizing the iconset from Spark in Illustrator (across Adobe CC really) by creating a blank document, inserting icons, saving as PDF, opening in Illustrator.

    It would be awesome if this process could be streamlined with the icons from Spark possibly being added to Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. Possibly from an addon, or by adding a new live and constantly updated set of symbols similar to how Adobe Fonts has been incorporated into…

  5. Object position should be able to be locked.

    When aligning multiple objects to each other, all of them translates. There's no option to make one fixed (position locked) and then align all the other object to that fixed one. E.g. a content to a box object.

    When crop tool is selected, add the live corners option to crop rounded corners or circles. Please and thank you.

    There is an intended way to do it.


    Once your image is cropped, you can do Object > Clipping Mask > Make and Ai will create and select a rectangular clipping mask for your image.


    Then you have to convert it to a live shape, with Object > Shape > Convert to Shape.


    Then you can round its corners in Transform panel, typing in a value in one of the Corner Radius fields (if they are linked) in the Rectangle Properties section.


    All of these can be recorded as an action and applied later with a click in Actions panel or a hotkey.

  8. fix the Layers palette; modernize it.

    The layers Palette in Illustrator Predates most Design apps out there. Because of that, many of its behaviors are critically out dated and in great need of a top - bottom update.

    some critical things to fix:
    1. Selection tracking should be unified. Selecting in the Layers palette should ALSO select the elements in the document. Throw away the confusing 2nd step there.

    1. naming. make it more flexible. IE: add built in options for the renaming that occurs when you copy a Layer. Add the ability to rename selected layers with one text entry. Add to that, a simple Scripting…

  9. Change the Separations Preview panel to behave like it does in InDesign

    Can you change the Separations Preview panel in Illustrator to behave just like it does in InDesign? The Separations Preview panel in InDesign shows the percentage of each color separation when you hover over an area of the artwork, and includes the Ink Limit option. Both of those features would be extremely useful in Illustrator.

  10. Invert blending mode

    You have Normal, Multiply and Screen, but there is no simple Invert blending transparency mode for layers or objects.
    I've seen it in other vector based programs and would love to see it in Ai (and Ps).

    eg
    When a black ring (set to INVERT) overlap a solid black circle, the portion of the ring that overlaps would turn white.

    When a Blue Circle overlapped a Yellow Circle, the boolean area would turn green.

  11. Distribute / align on edges of an artboard or a shape

    A request to add two buttons to the "Align" options :
    distributing shapes on an artboard in order to have equal spaces between those two shapes AND the edges of the artboard.
    This could work with more than two shapes, and artboard could also be replaced by another shape (like a background color...).

    This should be clearer with a picture...

  12. give users the option to copy layers, and NOT have them renamed.

    currently, Character Animator REQUIRES multiple layer hierarchies that use the exact same naming convention.

    When I duplicate a perfectly good Layer Hierarchy, every damned single layer in it, Gets renamed. This creates Hours of tedious work for me that is incredibly stupid.

    I want a set of options in the preferences to dictate exactly how Illustrator behaves when it duplicates a Layer/Layer Hierarchy.

    I want to be able to change the string used.
    I want to be able to set it to use a numbering system (number, step, padding)
    I want to be able to turn it the **** off.

  13. Allow to drag CC Library items directly to Asset Export panel

    I've just finished dragging 24 logo variations to the CC libraries pane and named each individually.

    Now I want to export each of these in various formats, but I can't drag directly from the CC Libraries pane to the Asset Export pane.

    Instead, I have to rename every single one manually when dragging all 24 into the asset export pane.

    What a pane!

  14. Same Place shortcut key as in After Effects

    Why not use the same shortcut key as After Effects for 'placing' images i.e.. Apple or CTRL 'i'. Using the 'Shift' CTRL P is awkward. Photoshop should also have the same shortcut key. Different shortcuts for different Adobe programs slow downs users.

  15. Let Typekit have a narrow and tall font

    Typekit is missing a really basic, classic font:

    If you look at posters for movies like THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, you'll notice that the fonts often are 30-35% taller than any font that's available in typekit.

    So it would be super nice if Typekit could add something like that. It's really important if you're making movie posters...

  16. Editable path smoothing for pencil and brush paths

    I'm proposing smoothing that may be applied or removed after a path has been created with the pencil or brush tool by the user. When a path is being created, the program would capture necessary coordinate information and the path would be represented on screen as drawn, or with a certain amount of smoothing (set prior to drawing in tool panel). If the user wanted more or less smoothing applied after creating the path, the amount could be adjusted by selecting the path and changing the amount applied. If the path would no longer need adjusting, it could be expanded…

  17. Don't automatically lock new template layers

    It would be useful when creating a new template layer it did not immediately become locked. Usually, I would want to put items on this layer like notes or reference marks, but unlocking the layer seems like an unnecessary step for a layer that has just been created.

  18. Remember last used SVG / SVGZ save and export settings (Responsive and others)

    We often need SVG and SVGZ that are NOT responsive to the web area (we need to control the viewable font size for psychometrics purposes).

    Illustrator default switches to Responsive being checked after every Illustrator restart. It would be great if every time I restart Illustrator the check box for "Responsive" remembered that I want it UNchecked (our workaround is to create a new SVGZ file immediately after every restart and uncheck the Responsive box, and if we don't remember to do that task our work must be tediously re-exported).

  20. Latest resale on Ubuntu/Linux OS

    Please release Adobe Illustrator to Ubuntu as I really wants to move into Ubuntu.
    But without Illustrator I can live a single day.
