  1. Fisheye lens effect

Is it possible to apply Fisheye lens effect in Adobe Illustrator as in Freehand MX? Adobe Illustrator has some features, but not as effective as Freehand.

  2. Bring back menu highlighting feature in 'HELP' menu

Please bring back menu highlighting feature for Illustrator and Photoshop! In previous versions, you could type a word in the HELP dropdown (i.e. "offset path in Ai"), and the menu where the item is located would drop down and highlight the item. This is very useful because designers sometimes remember the name of a feature, but not where it is located. Also for learning it is very useful.

  3. This might actually be useful in other products but have an "open frequent" as well as open recent, if you have to load a file alot

I was thinking you could add hexadecimal count in file so only adding a byte of data but then what happens when you share files ect, I don't know if there is already a easy way already in the metadata you could implement it

Now I know you can create libraries to sort of do what I'm saying or bridge.

A couple of situations where it would be useful loading up logo for a frequent client or company you work for.

If you have been working on a project with a few different files day and night for months, then…

  4. Tiled grids for pattern brushes

Custom brushes are nearly impossible to make as a pattern brush if you don’t want a ridiculous amount of tiling. How about instead of making it tile in a grid, you give the option to have it only tile vertically or horizontally? This would help people who are on fashion and architecture courses, to name only two groups who would benefit from such a feature.

  5. Locked objects should not highlight at all when drag selecting over them

That’s the whole reason I lock them, so they’re not in the way and are ignored during complex selections. Highlighting them when mousing over? It goes against the very design principle of locking. So annoying to see these fundamental usability regressions at every turn with .ai lately.

  6. Pixel Perfect - alignment with equal distribution e.g. Artboard alignment

When exporting out artwork for app icons, the dimensions have to be precise. 256 x 257 isn't going to work downstream and you have to adjust and export out again - wasting time.

If an art board bounds is not pixel perfect aligned the exported graphics can be one pixel out. So it becomes necessary to align both content and art boards.

One could argue that if an art board has a defined integer dimension, then it should be guaranteed to be exactly that dimension. Which could be a bug.

But why is it necessary to have an art board…

  7. Batch Copy Transform Data (Dimensions, Location, Rotation) between Objects

I often need to update assets by swapping in objects, placed to match existing position, dimensions and rotation data. Would it be possible to copy all transform data at once rather than one attribute at a time?

Blender is an example of software that does this well.
(Pardon me if this has already been requested, or there is a better existing way to do this. I haven't yet found either.)

Pour avoir la possibilité de retrouver les images incorporées au besoin.
Dès que l’image est pixellisée ou recadrée, nous perdons cette précieuse information.

  10. command+option+z should *not* be the shortcut to revert the current project

command+option+z is "step backward" in photoshop, undo basically. Why is it revert file in illustrator?! so many people have lost work because of this simple oversight.

  11. Add Embroidery Digitizing Features

Please add the ability to do embroidery digitizing within this program; including the ability to export in the most common embroidery file types. If not, a standalone program added to Creative Cloud would be greatly appreciated. This would be especially useful on Macs, because there aren't as many software programs that specialize in digitizing as there are on PC.

  12. I would like to be able to set the grid origin when editing a symbol.

If I open a symbol from the symbols window, the grid position is always offset from the origin of the symbol. It is not currently possible to set the grid origin here. Why doesn't the grid origin set to the registration point of the symbol? At least an option to do this would be great.

  13. Allow us to convert all points of shape.

Why does selecting all the points of a shape suddenly mean you can't convert them to smooth or corner? You should be able to convert them--however you wish--with all the points selected.

  15. Paragraph creation threshold with text tool

I'm constantly creating tiny little paragraph containers when I intend to create a single line of text. To prevent this, implement a threshold of mouse movement (or dragging) within which a single line of text can be created. For instance, if I click and accidentally drag across 5 pixels, there should be a reasonable assumption I want a single line of text. There's little chance any of us want to create a 10x10-pixel paragraph container. And if we did, we'd understand that, in order to create a paragraph, we have to create one above the threshold width, then resize it.

  16. "Multiple Record Layout" data merge feature.

I love the "Multiple Record Layout" data merge feature in InDesign. However my merged documents are often opened in Illustrator by the end user to make changes. Currently my client wants a full vector file for laser cutting shapes with custom etched names. They do not translate well with strokes becoming their own object and lines of text disconnecting. The idea to data merge 200+ names in IN makes perfect sense, but in this case the client asked they be done in AI and each name and custom info needs to be brought in by hand manually one name at…

  17. Pushing Fresco projects to Illustrator retains the layers, but does not bring any of the color palette

Illustrator should create a swatch for every color used in a Fresco project that is imported.

  18. Numbered/Label elements in document

Could we get the ability to populate the document/artboard with labels for each element? When working with clients remotely, it might be nice to be able to have the program populate labels for each element/solid/etc within the document/artboard, that way the artist and client can refer to each item vs talking about this leaf/note/cloud/etc . Specifically if there are multiples of the same shape within the document. Easier communication and presentation. Thanks!

  20. Please print "User Guides" books again. You do not need to constantly update them:

Physical "User Guide" books were far more quicker and easier to use to get answers to questions on how to use Adobe Illustrator. The book form could come out ever two years at most, including new updates, when it reaches a certain amount of pages, start a new volume. If you already have this online, or in a PDF format, please let me know where I can find it on your website and if you do have it online, does it have an "index" to look items up? Or just a search window? Thank you.
