  1. Library search and place behaviour

    As I drag an item out of the library panel, as soon as the item clears the edge of the panel, the search results reset to whatever library I was looking at before; the search results are lost.

    This frequently results in me having to repeat the exact same search multiple times over which can be madening. Consider the following situations:

    1) I forgot to alt-click/my alt-click didn't register, and I'm stuck with a linked file which can't be converted to a useful vector (I've never yet actually wanted to place a linked file from the library, so having that…

  2. Give us the option to pin a file or template to the home screen of Illustrator and photoshop.

    I work with a file where I have saved many shadow effects and icons. I have to open a lot of files during the day and at the end of the day the Ai file gets bumped to the bottom or out of the home screen. The next day I have to look it up again and I feel it would be easier if I just could pin it to the home screen so it doesn't get bumped down or disappears completely of the home screen.

  3. In actions, ability to copy a dimension from transform window and paste in a move command

    In actions, the ability to copy a horizontal or vertical dimension from the transform palette so that it can be pasted in another command (usually move).
    For example, I'd like to be able (in an action) to copy the height of a selected object, then paste that elsewhere, such as move that distance, or create a rectangle with that measurement as one of the dimensions.

  4. Direct Selection Tool to select only points

    When using the Direct Selection Tool to move an anchor point IT SHOULD JUST MOVE THAT POINT without having to click on the point first. If I wanted to move the whole object I wouldn't be using the Direct Selection Tool, WOULD I?

  5. Right click on a transform to copy/paste position/angle/widht&height of objects separately

    I would love it if I could copy the position etc. from one object to another without having to copy paste each property individually.

  6. Student Discount for one month Free usage of Illustrator CC during Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis

    I think it is reasonable that Adobe would consider helping students by providing free access to Adobe Illustrator whose universities have moved to online instruction due to the Coronavirus. It would be a generously kind gesture for Adobe to consider discounting or eliminating the $31. monthly fee during this crisis.

    The software is provided in the classroom, and labs are open to students outside the class period for their use. Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education PASSHE stated that our Adobe CC license at Edinboro University does not permit student personal use for Adobe CC products. Some students are taking…

  7. New document without symbols, brushes, graphic styles

    New documents are pre-filled with unwanted symbols, brushes and graphic styles that bloat the documents. I always have to go in and delete these to keep file size down, especially when saving as EPS for logos, etc.

  9. Have Untitled Illustrator document be reset to number 1

    Dear Sir or Madam:

    I don't like the way Adobe Illustrator keeps incrementing an Untitled document numbering each time you create a new file. I would rather have Adobe Illustrator Untitled document be set to Untitled-1 document each time I create a new Adobe Illustrator file. Please consider this feature.   10. Smart Guides and the Rotate Tool: Incremental Rotation Angles

    When rotating an object with the rotate tool and holding shift, objects snap to 45° increments.

    I am suggesting that increments of rotation be customizable, allowing such increments as 1°, 5°, 10° 15° 30° and 45°.

    Trying to get integer values of rotation, with the current method of dragging to rotate an object, is nigh impossible. This would allow for easier creation of polar arrays and the accurate rotation of objects in general.

  11. Eyedropper tool to have option to pick gradient settings

    If you have a gradient set up with custom rotation and you want to pick it to another object with eyedroper tool, the rotation doesn't transfer.

    It would save time not having to type it again.

    Maybe add some other options as well to have more control.

    It should be an option at the eyedropper tool properties. (See image)

  12. import autocad layers

    when importing a file from autocad, regardless of which version its saved as the layers are not preserved and every object appears as a separate item under 1 layer. What a nightmare. I only purchased Illustrator to present our CAD drawings and it cant even do that properly, waste of money. User interface is logicless and not at all intuitive, totally reliant on youtube tutorial videos and web search solutions.

  13. Preferences User Interface UI Scaling: Drop down menu list needs to scale too.

    Drop down menu text is too small/light to tell if an item is unavailable (grayed out) I thought if I increased the UI Scaling the dropdown menu items would also appear larger.

  15. Auto spell checker underline and hidden characters should disappear in Trim View

    When switching to “Trim View”, grid and lines and bleed and anything outside the artboards disappear, providing a nice preview of the document you’re working on.

    However the red zigzag underline of the auto spell checker and the symbols from Show Hidden Characters are not hidden, so that the preview is still cluttered with working tools.

    It should probably behave like the Preview mode in InDesign (W) and only shows the artwork.

  16. Improve Symbol Workflows

    1. Today the defaults always persist for new symbols - i.e. if you want your symbols to be Static you need to select this option manually from a dropdown every single time you create a symbol. If the Symbol Options dialog simply remembered the previous choice it would be super helpful.

    2. Today you can drag a linked image into the symbols palette, name your symbol, configure your symbol choices, then click OK - only then is an error shown that 'a symbol definition cannot contain a linked image'. It would be way more helpful to provide this feedback on the drag…

  17. Join Separate paths

    If you have lots of separate, exploded lines (say from DWG/DXF import, then you should be able to use an alternative of Ctrl+J to join them back together without them trying to join end to end.

    That is to say, if paths are adjacent to each other they are joined. But the ends of non adjacent paths aren't then closed up as well. Really basic idea, but somehow overlooked.

    Sure, it's easy to Ctrl+J a few disparate, exploded paths. But for 20+, 50+, it's a joke.

  19. Change conversion of black when going from RGB to CMYK

    Please change the default behavior when converting a file from RGB color space to CMYK color space to make RGB black convert to 100% black. Currently and for years, Illustrator converts it to a rich black, with high values in each ink. It's very common to have to take artwork created in RGB and covert it to CMYK for print, and the default conversion for black is never usable. Please make it practical and have 0,0,0, RGB black convert to Cyan 0, Magenta 0, Yellow 0, Black 100.

  20. Lasso select tool selection lines should be always be visible, even when selecting over black fills.

    I often use the lasso select tool and often i am selecting over top of objects that are black filled, and the lasso line is invisible over these black objects.

    Conversely, in photoshop, the lasso line is drawn so it always contrasts the colors behind it, so no matter what colors we are selecting over top of, the lasso line is still visible.

    Illustrator desperately needs to replicate this functionality from photoshop
