1. Improve and allow customize the 'Show' info slot in the bottom bar (next to horizontal scrollbar)

   Show field next to zoom and artboard selectors below work area can now show 5 things:
   current artboard name, which is nowhere else is seen except Artboards palette;
   current Tool, that is usually visible if Tools panel is on;
   current date-time, which is visible in system clock;
   number of undos, which was quite useful when RAM was tiny;
   current profile, which is visible in document header.
   I mean, almost every info available is also available in other place!

   I would like to use this field as something exclusive:
   number of selected objects (nowhere to be seen, only PathScribe plugin can show this in separate palette);
   snapping status (grid/point/guides/smart on/off — we have to try now, or go to Preferences or drop down View command);
   scaling effects/strokes status (on/off — try or go Preferences too);
   current layer;
   mouse clicks (I remember it was hidden, I miss it, it was useful as internal timer, but I don't miss eyes/moon/Ted/etc).

2. A big persistent Color palette offering RGB and HSB and Grayscale at a glance.

   When making Illustrations, I switch between RGB / HSB and Grayscale all the time. I have a 30" screen - room enough to show all mixers all the time.
   Please make this possible.

3. Option to put Properties Panel at the top of the workspace.

   For those of us who find it more convenient for the Properties to be at the top of our workspace, we should be able to click and drag the properties panel into the default space along the top of the window.

4. Allow tool bar to be horizontal

   Now that the properties has been finally set in the right panel, I love it! This allows me to have the layers set in the left panel. Next step, It would be nice to have the ability to set the tool bar above or below horizontally.

5. Isolate Selected Objects without having to group them

   In my work flow, I find I would like to isolate more than one object for something, and not necessarily a whole layer. Currently I have to group two or three objects first to do this. I'd like to see being able to isolate selected objects without having to group them first.

7. Relative math operations with defined and mixed values in input fields

   When you have several objects with different parameters in your selection, Illustrator would show nothing in the input field controlling this parameter.
   For example, if you have two paths selected, one having 1 pt stroke weight, and another with 4 pt — Ai would show nothing in Weight in Stroke panel, meaning it’s a 'mixed value'.

   What if we could focus this field, type '+5' in it, and get 1+5=6 for one path and 4+5=9 for the other?

   Why not making it work for similar value as well? Instead of putting the cursor after the, say '2.25 pt' and type '+2' so it goes '2.25 pt+2', when we could just replace it with '+2', with no aiming?

8. Allow to customize the Contextual Task Bar

9. Make Snapshots for History panel

   I'd like to be able to TAKE SNAPSHOT

   Then a History panel would show each snapshot, rather than hundreds of moves and tweaks.

   A undo/redo shortcut modifier to step back or forward through snapshots.
   A trash can on the history panel to remove a snapshot.

10. Appearance Variables

    Imagine I have several drop shadows, with different colors, but same offset and blur values. Now I want to change the horizontal offset for all of them at once. Even if I use styles, it would require me change each style I have manually.
    With Appearance variables though, I could have use something like '%h_shadow' in effects’ values’ fields, in all of these shadows, and set it equal to an actual numerical value in one place.
    So, once I change it, every other shadow will adapt this immediately.

11. Sync the order of Align and Distribute menu commands

    Hey, we now have Object > Distribute commands! No more actions wraps to bind these to hotkeys!

    However, why is the order is swapped? Align menu has Horizontal commands first, but Distribute has them at the bottom, under Vertical.

    One can object it’s just like the Align panel has them, and this is not the legacy behaviour you better keep, really. Please sync these.

12. Add Cut At / Connect / Remove / Convert Selected Anchor Points commands to 'Object > Path' menu

    In Control panel we have three buttons for a point partial selection:

    1. Remove selected anchor points.
       Does the same as a menu command Object > Path > Remove Anchor Points, and this command can have a hotkey assigned to

    2. Connect selected end points.
       Does the same as a menu command Object > Path > Join, and has a default hotkey. Why Ai uses both 'Join' and 'connect' for the same operation, and also has 'Join' tool, which does a pretty different thing — is an UX mystery.

    3. Cut path at selected anchor points.
       There is NO a menu command for that, and this button can NOT have a hotkey or written into an action (which is a bad workaround anyway, because an action which has only one operation is an excuse for not having an ability to assign a hotkey to the command directly, like with scripts).

13. Make title bar of inactive window look different from an active one

    On Windows there is no way to tell Illustrator window in focus from inactive one, even when a corresponding option in OS preferences is on.

    And every time Ai is not in focus you can’t use hotkeys.
    Please make at least something dynamic to tell if the window is in focus! Like it was before. Icon changing color at least.

14. Return showing thumbnail file previews on Windows in Explorer

    Please add thumbnail file previews to Windows as we have with Adobe Reader. It's not fair that Mac users have this and Windows users don't While you're doing that please add them to PSD files as well.

15. Make keyboard shortcuts work for different input languages

    I'd love to see an update that lets me use the same physical keys for shortcuts while I have a different keyboard than English selected.

    For example, the backslash key () is used for the line tool. But when switching to German, the same physical key returns (#) and in Romanian we have a (â).

    I wish that all shortcuts activated by the press of the physical keys work as intended in the interface regardless of the language currently active so I don't have to switch so much between languages just to have my shortcuts work again.

    This could work by letting users assign more than one character in the keyboard shortcut panel, so that I can input manually all the characters I need and resolve any conflicts.

    Of course this feature could be extended to all Adobe software.

16. Draw/brush selection

    I work with pixel art. When I select I need to click on every single pixel to change color, if it's not simple shapes like a rectangle that I can marquee and select. If I draw, I just drag the pixels around accidentally. I would like to draw a selection with a brush (any brush I like), and that whatever is covered beneath what I draw by the brush gets selected. And it shall be in a mode that no pixels or objects or anything is dragged around.

    Why it's valuable? It would be a huge timesaver, and keep me from always accidentally moving pixels or objects around.

17. Pattern brush can be created while viewing preview as in pattern edit mode.

    Creating tiles and checking whether the seams are aligned is hard work.
    I think that it is convenient to have a function that can create a pattern brush while watching the preview as in the pattern edit mode.
    It seems that the efficiency of pattern brush creation will be greatly increased.

    You can assign your own custom shortcut to this command via Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts. Toggle 'Tools' to 'Menu commands' from the dropdown and search for 'Trim View'.

19. Add 'Release' button for Envelope distort object in Control bar

    Control bar is still the best thing to control various aspects of selected art. You try to transfer some of those to Properties, but 'Release' button (as long as 'Expand') is still nowhere to be found (only deep in menus or on hotkeys, already taken).

20. Select same, with multiple selectable attributes and customisations

    When using the Select Same feature we need a lot more options, like all objects with the same transparency effect AND opacity AND tint AND line weight etc, that can be selected from a list of attributes. Same sort of list as the options list for the Eyedropper Tool (see screenshot).

    It should be split into sections that allow vectors graphics selections as above, but also things like selecting all linked items that are the same file AND the same size AND rotation AND opacity.

    Selecting all text in a certain colour, font, size, style so they can be updated en masse would help too (overlapping with another suggestion here).

    You can then tick as many as you like before performing the select using your chosen filters. A preview mode would be useful too, so you can see what you're picking up.

    Once set, selected filters should be saveable and accessable from a scrollable list alongside the filter window for instant selection without opening a save / load screen.

    Finally, each select same filter window should have an option to add / subtract from the current selection, so selctions can be stacked / refined.

    This would be a huge time-saver when updating many files with similar changes whether to update embedded elements, for corporate image updates or technical changes like minimum line thickness.
