Add values labels to the graph tool
Please, add the value labels feature to the graph tool.
Currently, it is possible through a weird code and design symbols. Although graphs are not supposed to have value labels, clients are all the time asking for that. Adding one by one, by hand, is time consuming.
Since Adobe bought Freehand MX, you could open its code and learn from there.

Please make the units setting bound to the files, or at least change with workspaces!
Adding to this idea:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/32403850-make-units-and-grid-settings-to-be-bound-to-file#commentsI work with both printed and digital formats, on top of that much of my work is multilingual, involving English, Japanese, Portuguese and other languages (at least we don't deal with LTR type... for the time!).
As such, I'm constantly changing units from mm to pixels and points, type from points to mm to Q, it's a mess! And I do that several times a day.
I guess the easier path would be to bind the units settings to the workspaces, as binding to the files would require changing the .ai format. But what do I know?... Please make this a feature already, it would give me a reason to actually use Workspaces for a practical purpose besides just backing up the position of my palettes...
If Adobe decides to assign the units to the workspaces:
1-Please also consider adding a visual cue to the units somewhere in an unused part of the UI (i.e.: besides the tool indicator in the bottom left of the document screen? Something like [Unit: px Line: mm Type: pt EAL: Q]
2-Please don't stop at units and assign also the units for increments of text and leading, tracking ems, baseline shift and nudging, also drawing angle and rounded corner radius, and grid spacing and grid subdivisions! (hehe)
And last, if you do this, please tell the Photoshop and InDesign teams to do the same.

A keyboard shortcut option for "Redefine Graphic Style" in the Appearance panel's menu
I have shifted to a very Graphic Style-focused workflow lately and find myself constantly hitting this menu item when I'm figuring out exactly what a Style should look like. I would like to be able to assign a shortcut to it.
It is currently nowhere to be found in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel. It is also one of the many, many actions in Illustrator that can't be recorded in an Action.
There's a lot of menu items in Illustrator's panels that have these problems and it would be great to have a general fix for all of them, but this is the one whose lack is bugging me the most lately.

Export EPS with latex
The open source Inkscape has the feature where you could edit any text as latex in the EPS-file after exporting it. This makes all scientists and other users of latex mega-happy. This is the easiest way to format the text to fit the latex document, and to add nice math writings to the figure in the blink of an eye, instead of the tedious work of writing the correct font and special math symbols in Illustrator.
Could Ai please add the feature of generating something similar to what is documented here: http://tug.ctan.org/info/svg-inkscape/InkscapePDFLaTeX.pdf ?
I believe this is easy and quickly implementable in Ai.

Ability to change the Canvas size after a new document is created (normal to large and vise versa)
The new expanded large canvas size is great, but I think there should be an option to change the canvas size from the standard one to the expanded large one after a document is created instead of having to create a new document.

Have a panel that shows info and keyboard modifiers for the current tool
All Adobe applications are quite complex beasts, and what all the tools do and particularly what holding different modifiers or keys do can be quite arcane.
I imagine a panel you can have open on the side, and it will show information and the modifier options for the currently active tool.
For instance for the Star tool, it can say what Shift, Option and Command keys do, and that you can press Arrow Up and Arrow Down to increase the number of points as you drag.
Pro users can keep the panel closed, but it can really help new users who want to discover the full power of the tools.

Add 'Relink image' in the right click (contextual) menu
would speed up productivity when replacing multiple linked images by allowing users to control-click or right-click on an image to relink files, rather than going to the menu bar every time.

An option to ignore locked layers with the eyedropper tool
At the moment, if you have a locked layer above the layer you are working in, the eyedropper tool selects colors and properties of the top layer - the locked layer - instead of the (unlocked) layer you are working on.
This causes frustration as every time you want to eyedrops something, you have to make a bunch of layers invisible first.
If an option could be added to the eyedropper tool, such as "ignore locked layers", this problem would be gone completely and working with Illustrator would be a lot smoother and faster.
This could be an option under the eyedropper preferences.

save to cloud documents for illustrator and other apps
Can we please add the function of saving to the adobe cloud documents on apps other than PSD?? Currently after the 2020 update there is a function window that pops up when you click save/save as and it gives you the option to save to the adobe cloud documents, which is great because it saves me from using space on my flash disc memory. However, sadly illustrator does not have this option, it only has the option to save to the creative cloud synced files which is different from cloud documents because synced files still takes up space on your computer. (correct me if I'm wrong pls) SO could you, ADOBE, please give us the function of saving to the cloud documents across other apps other than PSD??? PRETTY PLEASE???

Make the eyedropper appear with the Brush / Blob Brush tool selected by holding the Alt / Option key
With the brush tool selected, make the eyedropper appear by holding down the alt key. This would allow colors within the document to be sampled just like in Photoshop, without having to keep selecting from the swatches.

Move selected anchors by coordinates
In InDesign when you select some specific anchor points on a path with the direct selection tool, and want to move them x- or y-wise, you can enter the value and hit return to make the selected points move accordingly. Or you can move them by dragging them.
Here is what it looks like:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gk9qk6eqvdvn41p/indesign_points_moved.mov?dl=0If ypu try to do the same in Illustrator, it works as long as you drag the anchor points by hand, but if yo try to do it by entering x- or y-values the whole object moves, not only the anchor points selected.
Here is what that looks like:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a6r8hjymitm22u0/illustrator_pionts_moved.mov?dl=0This is inconsistent, and the behaviour of InDesign is in my wiew the way to go. If I would like to move the object I would use the selection tool instead of the direct selection tool.
Maybe there is already a way of doing this, if so I would be glad if someone told me how!

Separation preview with values on hover
Just like in InDesign there should be the value of each channel on the exact spot (while you are hovering over any point on your artwork)
Here the difference between AI and ID (each while hovering over an image)
It's hard to check color values without (at the moment you have to put the finished .ai into a InDesign document, activate separation view there and check each point.) For printing you have a minimum requirement of 3%-7% (depending on the technique like offset or gravure printing) in each channel to make sure it actually prints. Otherwise it may not! It would be also useful to check whether your black is just 100% Black and does not consist of any other Channel. Finally to check if every black is overprinting.
Yep, that's all only possible in InDesign (or Acrobat) but not in Illustrator itselfJust like in InDesign there should be the value of each channel on the exact spot (while you are hovering over any point on your artwork)

Align/distribute to angle
It would be so cool if you could align/distribute objects on an angle. Say for example I want to align objects to a 45 degree angle, instead of aligning to the highest/lowest point, or to the left or right.

Make the hex code box visible for all color modes on the color panel. Not just RGB modes.
I only ever use HSB to dial in my color and it slows me down to double click on the color to only have to copy the hex code in a different window. The only modes that currently have a box that displays the hex code are RGB or WebsafeRGB. This is missing for all other modes such as HSB, CMYK and Grayscale. Make the hex code box visible for all color modes on the color panel, please.
7 votesThis filed is now visible in Color panel for all the color modes, starting version 27.6.1.
There is no way to disable it though, so if you want to be able to turn it off — upvote the request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47027617

Reduce & refine the SVG code that Illustrator exports!
Illustrator creates bloated and messed up SVG code. Please Adobe, make Illustrator so it Exports much cleaner and simpler code.
I'm working with a team of developers and they mock the SVGs I'm giving them. They won't even use many of them, because every single KB matters, and when an SVG file goes from 10KB to 50kb to 100KB, it makes a really REALLY big difference when including in an application or website, so much so, that the developers refuse to use some of my SVGs!
I've attached a script generated SVG (Clean) and the same exact file after being opened and saved within Illustrator. The code from 51KB -to- 65KB. That's enough to fail ...and look at that code! The Illustrator exported (Save As...) SVG is a mess! Illustrator completely ruins the arcs and circles!

Free transform should function the same as photoshop free transform
Free transform function in Illustrator is good, but to have another function that acts the same way as Free Transform in Photoshop would be really helpful.

Transform Effect with manually adjustable anchor position
The current Transform Effects has a very limited anchor position setup (that 9 squares in the bottom corner). To make a custom anchor position, we must input "horizontal" and "vertical" value manually which is very ancient.
Rotation tool with Transform Again method is an alternative when creating a mandala thingy, but it if we want to alter the shapes, we have to repeat the rotation and transformation again, which is another ancient stuff.
Adding a simple clicking right on the artboard for placing the anchor point of Transform Effects would be great. We can just set up the anchor point first manually (just like the rotation and transform again method), and then the Transform Effects follows where the anchor point is placed. This will be removing the labour of manually inputting the value of horizontal x vertical of the transformation.
