Cursor at the end of document name field during "Save as"
When you "Save as," the cursor automatically appears at the end of the document name in the document name field - i.e. right after the file name extension. I never need to edit the file name extension, as I can do that in the dropdown menu, but I DO need to edit the name of the document. This, combined with the fact that there's now a lag of a few seconds before you can type in the document name field (submitted in separate comment), is making saving different versions of the same file veeeery annoying.

Linking dxf/dwg
This might be very wishfull thinking...
I am an architect, and use CAD to make plan drawings, and illustrator to make them look good (adjusting lineweight, stroke, color and so on). But if i make an updated drawing in CAD, i have to do everything all over again in Illustrator. It would be awsome if illustrator was able to give a specific layer a specific lineweight/stroke/color etc... and was able to update this on its own!

Automatic spell check (similar to InDesign)
While not everyone creates text heavy content in AI, it would be a MAJOR help if I could either have a 3rd party way to spell check as I go or to have an internal method of doing this.

Opacity mask not behaving as expected for object that crosses over itself
When I make a gradient opacity mask for a line object as shown, the opacity mask behaves as expected when the object overlaps another object (cyan rectangle; i.e. you can see the bottom object through the top object), but does not when it overlaps itself (magenta rectangle; i.e. the part of the object on the bottom is clipped by the shape of the object, rather than visible through the opacity mask like the separate object).

Stop changing the name of Illustrator application.
Most applications retain the same "Application" name between versions. This makes transitioning between versions easy when working with a script-driven automation workflow. Illustrator is unique because the application name changes with every "update". This greatly complicates our ability to easily update Illustrator in our workflow. Please consider maintaining the same application name like most applications do.

Feedback on new Recolor artwork (in Beta now)
New redesigned Recolor artwork is available in Beta now.
We heard from many of you that the current Recolor is confusing and difficult to use. This new Recolor has a completely redesigned experience with an added ability to recolor your art based on your referenced images & artwork. We have broken the Recolor into two sections. When you invoke Recolor, you would see an on canvas dialogue that allows you to quickly Recolor your artwork with all the basic controls. For advanced settings, you can click on more options (...).

Add the Make Compound Path icon back to the Properties panel
A couple years ago, there was an icon (below the pathfinder tools) that appeared in the properties panel when you had multiple items selected - Make Compound Path. A subsequent update removed that tool from the properties panel. Release compound path is still available right there in the properties when the selected object happens to be a compound path. Some people suggest just using the pathfinder Union to make a compound path, but it's definitely not the same thing as making a compound path (pathfinder union on non-connected items makes a group, not a true compound path - they're not…

Save as the next number. So file 001 will save as file 002, etc.

Snap to bounding box of symbol
The bounding box of a symbol has anchorpoints. But these are not snappy, alas.
Please make those snap as any other anchor point.

Switching to gradient should use as starting gradient color the original solid color
Switching to solid color to gradient, by default gradient should use as starting color the original solid color.
Since imho mostly people uses solid as starting point, then converts to gradient.
37 votesThe latest Beta build 29.6.107 now uses the original solid color as a starting gradient color, instead of white, when switching to gradient.
You can still assign the default white-to-black gradient by clicking the gradient chip in the Gradient panel or a toolbar while holding Cmd/Ctrl.

Remember last used SVG / SVGZ save and export settings (Responsive and others)
We often need SVG and SVGZ that are NOT responsive to the web area (we need to control the viewable font size for psychometrics purposes).
Illustrator default switches to Responsive being checked after every Illustrator restart. It would be great if every time I restart Illustrator the check box for "Responsive" remembered that I want it UNchecked (our workaround is to create a new SVGZ file immediately after every restart and uncheck the Responsive box, and if we don't remember to do that task our work must be tediously re-exported).

Custom Bleed for each Artboard
Sometimes I have alot of different arboards.. Business cards and Banners.. the business cards need 1/8" bleed but the banners need 1/4"
being able to customize bleed per artboard would be very helpful

Split / Divide Paths into equal parts
It would be useful being able to split a path into a specific amount of equal parts. Tools like including the possibility to include a gutter like the tools we find in the "Split into Grid" option would be superb too.
There are ways around to get it. but in makes the whole process tedious and not what someone would expect from software like Adobe Illustrator in 2020.
PS: It also doesn't make sense that we can not sing in with our Adobe Account into this specific UserVoice forum. But I guess that paying our membership doesn't makes our opinion…

Allow pattern tile size more than 1.41 meters
Make pattern tiles bigger in size. Now it is limited to about 1.41 meters. Nowadays we can print on textile directly. So the limitation in making a pattern is not bound to physical limitations we've had for years. When printing on fabric that is 1.50 meters I want to be able to make a pattern that has that same width.
Since you already increased the maximum artboard size, why not increase the pattern tile size as well?5 votes -
Change the Separations Preview panel to behave like it does in InDesign
Can you change the Separations Preview panel in Illustrator to behave just like it does in InDesign? The Separations Preview panel in InDesign shows the percentage of each color separation when you hover over an area of the artwork, and includes the Ink Limit option. Both of those features would be extremely useful in Illustrator.

Make all keyboard shortcuts the same between all Adobe products
Why not make all keyboard shortcuts the same across all Abobe Software.
Example:
In Illustrator there is no keybaord shortcut to convert text to caps, but in Indesign and Photoshop its Command.****,KThere are lots keyboard short cuts that are different it would be really amazing if they where all the same across all applications
