Add the ability to see recently inserted glyphs.
Please add a way to see recently used glyphs in the glyphs panel. Something similar to the bottom row of Microsoft Office's "insert symbol" panel. It would be nice if there was a toggle to switch between those glyphs most recently inserted with the Illustrator app regardless of which .ai file they were inserted into and all of the glyphs that have been inserted into the current .ai file (ideally regardless of who inserted them to enable better collaboration).

Please add a drop-down feature for font families, that allows all families to collapse and lock in the drop-down position.
Can you please create a system preference in which I am able to collapse all font families at once, and will lock them in the drop-down position?
It is very hard to scroll through the typefaces and collapse families individually, one by one.1 vote -
Reduce memory used and improve whole application performance speed.
Improvement of whole application performance speed.
Reduce the amount of memory used. (But keep a nimble performance)
User thinks that performance improvement is the most important, but please do not correct it so that it will improve by using a lot of memory.Reasons :
Recently, memory management has improved, but application crashes due to illegal memory access still occur.
If the operation speed is slow, I think that work efficiency will be the most degraded.
Reduction in time to start up and performance greatly affect all work.
Not all users are using the new and high spec machines.

Improve Symbol Workflows
Today the defaults always persist for new symbols - i.e. if you want your symbols to be Static you need to select this option manually from a dropdown every single time you create a symbol. If the Symbol Options dialog simply remembered the previous choice it would be super helpful.
Today you can drag a linked image into the symbols palette, name your symbol, configure your symbol choices, then click OK - only then is an error shown that 'a symbol definition cannot contain a linked image'. It would be way more helpful to provide this feedback on the drag…
6 votesIn the latest versions the chosen option for symbols sticks once you select Static instead of Dynamic ands stays like this for each new symbol we create further: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32371252

Remove the default 72 PPI resolution
There is NO device on Earth (except in museums) that have 72 PPI screen.
However, EVERY new screen-intended document created today in Illustrator and Photoshop STILL made with only 72 PPI by default. With this laughable resolution, all raster effects are rendered, looking just bad on any screen.
Since 72 PPI is the actual World Standard, it confuses many Adobe users and it has to be changed for good.
Today's computer screens have at the very least 120 PPI, but the phones for which many projects are created have a way higher pixel density of 450 PPI and more. The…

Join Separate paths
If you have lots of separate, exploded lines (say from DWG/DXF import, then you should be able to use an alternative of Ctrl+J to join them back together without them trying to join end to end.
That is to say, if paths are adjacent to each other they are joined. But the ends of non adjacent paths aren't then closed up as well. Really basic idea, but somehow overlooked.
Sure, it's easy to Ctrl+J a few disparate, exploded paths. But for 20+, 50+, it's a joke.

Add colors from toolbar to swatches in Illustrator
I would like to suggest that you should add a feature of "Add to swatches" from Indesign to Adobe Illustrator also. As you'd know in Indesign when we right click in ToolBar on froreground color or Outline we can simply add the color to swatches easily, but in illustrator we have to drag forcefully and drop it in Swatches panel.
Attached is a screenshot from Indesign and Illustrator Workspaces for your reference.3 votes -
Ability to duplicate artboards with Cmd+D
It would be nice if once you alt+drag an artboard in order to make a copy, you can keep duplicating the artboard with the same displacement, just pressing Cmd+D.
As it happens when you do it with a form or an image.
Thanks!!
10 votesThe latest Beta build 29.6.27 now allows us to use Transform Again command (Cmd/Ctrl + D) for artboards. Please update, test it and write back about your experience with this.

Illustrator should be able to import any unicode character
I was trying to use Runic text in an image but illustrator wouldn't enter anything but boxes with X's in them. I contacted support and they told me it was because no language supports the runic symbols.
This strikes me as absurd, as even applications such as notepad or openoffice can handle it, I could even send the runic text through the chat client I used to communicate with the support (as well as in google translate).
This should really be fixed.

Character and Paragraph Styles
In indesign Character and Paragraph Styles are very easy to use, and they can be grouped. Is it possible to have similar styles in illustrator?

Variables issues with images paths
Hi all,
am currently using "Data merge using the Variables panel". The following article does not have enough information for me: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/data-driven-graphics-templates-variables.html
The issue lies with the photos
My photos are not stored locally but in our company's shared google drive folder
So instead of having a link: C:\Photos\BillTucker.jpg this is how an image link would look like: /Volumes/GoogleDrive/My Drive/Automation/scljwhj2uqvn8ajetqhn.png
From the article, I've understood that it can not contain blank spaces. I wanted to know if there was a way around and if other users have had this issue. Thanks in advance

Show gridlines in outline view
If "Show Grid" is activated, in Outline View, the grid is mostly invisible. It only leaves very subtle dotted lines along the major grid lines, but the subdivision grid lines aren't visible.
It would be nice to see some faint lines of the subdivision grid lines in outline view so when I'm zooming in very close, those lines don't disappear.

The ability to open Fireworks PNGs as editable PNGs with layers retained in Illustrator
We have thousands of Fireworks PNGs that are now useless having updated to Mac Catalina OS and finding fireworks no longer works. We really need to be able to open them in Illustrator as editable pngs with the layers still retained. I'm aware this is possible in Photoshop, but that's not suitable for our vector-based graphics. Thank you.

Editable Brushes - Be able to change the art of the brush not just the settings.
When you make a brush using selected art currently you can only edit parameters about that brush. You cannot make edits to the art that is at the core of the brush. It would be great if you could edit that art. Like how you can edit the objects that make up a symbol.
Right now the only solution is to just make a new brush if you need to change the art.

Option to define layer/ sublayer behavior
Every time I open an old file all the sub-layers are collapsed
Even though a lot of people wish for the option to auto collapse the sub-layers, I personally work a lot with them expanded.
Hence my wish to have the option to set the behavior of the layers with sub-layers either auto-opened or collapsed (or as saved like last edit)

Instructor or Tutor program with experts are hired to help people to learn Adobe software
Dear Adobe team, I just thought of a potentially awesome business idea, Adobe Instructor or Tutor program, where experts in various Adobe programs are hired to help users learn how to use Adobes programs of their choice! It can be a one-on-one experience that can benefit students or any other users wanting to improve their skills. What are your thoughts?
Sincerely,
An expectantly curious user1 vote -

Complete user-defined default settings
The work I do for my company has certain defaults that go beyond the layout of my workspace. I only use one font, I always need the same set of color swatches, I use the same tolerance amounts, etc. I export to PDFs the same way every time, I essentially need the same options. (And even with a template, I have to start from scratch for many of these options.)
While I can save certain usual elements in my CC Library, I waste so much time saving and opening and searching. AND even then, I still have to reset the…
