Envelope Distort in Effect > Distort menu, to be compatible with Appearance
Wouldn't it be logical to add the Envelope Distort to the Effect > Distort & Transform menu (as well)?

"Align to" [artboard or selection] button in the alignment dialogue
I think it's a very simple thing to do for you guys: I'd really like to see the "align to" button (artboard or selection) added to the align-window.
Actually surprised to see it's not..2 votes -
Copy the 'Indent to here' command from InDesign
'As it says on the tin'
So many times you start out creating a graphic and you're in two minds whether to use Illustrator for it's superior vector tools, or InDesign for its superior type control.
When I need to quickly add a couple of bullets it would be so much easier if I could fake the tab stop of the first line with an em dash and then an 'Indent to here' (Ctrl+) so that any wrapped text is quickly brought into line.

Background Blur and Progressive Blur in Appearance
I'd like to see a blur option where objects behind an object appear blurred such as in the attachment. This is something that, I believe, can be achieved in CSS so it would be good to have the ability to use such an effect in Illustrator.

Asset Export - Make Collection of File Settings
When using the Asset Export feature – it would be nice to have collections of different formats and sizing. For a number of projects there are repeatable file formats that are needed.
Allow the user to define these collections (not unlike creating and setting workspaces).
One might need a collection that has only SVG and PDF, another collection could only be PNG (1x, 2x and 4x). And yet another might need SVG, JPG and PNG, there are so many different ways to work and exports that people need.
It would be nice to repeat the Asset Export groupings as a…

Hybrid Outline View
It would be useful to have a hybrid outline view that combines both Preview and Outline modes. This would be useful in manipulating objects that are hard to see or have no color (for example bounding boxes without a fill or stroke) without needing to switch views.

Allow Batch Actions to work on all open files
Batch Actions can work on a folder of files but not all open files. Photoshop can do this, why not Illustrator?

Anchor point lasso tool and manipulation suite.
click to create a selection area on a selected object(s). Scale, translate and rotate selected anchor points.
This would save lots of time when working with pre-existing artwork or if you draw something and notice afterword a certain part in too small, to big or a little out of position. Some of this is already available but require manual selection or the selection in question to be a square.

Magic Wand Tolerance should remember previous settings
Why does the Magic Wand tolerance settings reset whenever I open a new document? It makes much more sense to have the option to either set a default tolerance for the Magic Wand so it will always stay the same, or have illustrator remember the last settings used every time it is changed.

Improve Paragraph and Character Styles of Illustrator more like what we see in InDesign
Improve Paragraph and Character Styles of Illustrator more like what we see in InDesign. For example, GREP will be so cool to include in Paragraph Styles of Illustrator.

Saving/Exporting PDF as separate pages
When saving PDFs, can we have same menu and options as when saving Ai files:
- Separate artboards into individual files (using range) (InDesign has it)
- INCLUDE the artboard names with each page
Please, please, please. We've been using Ai as print files for years, because PDF is lacking this7 votes -
Knife tool with Bezier curves like Pen tool
I like the idea of the Knife tool and I try to use it. It is worthless because it has no control... If it used Bezier curves or like the Photoshop's Polygon tool that would be awesome.
1 voteWhile the Knife tools definitely lacks precision (and there is a request about it), but there is a way you can use any path as a cutting path, the same way the Knife does.
Draw a path over the objects you want to cut, select it and use Object > Path > Divide Objects Below.
Please comments back if it works or doesn’t work for you.

Paste remembers layers bug with isolation mode
If you choose the option Paste Remembers Layers and copy elements when in Isolation Mode and paste these after exiting Isolation Mode, they appear on a new layer named "Isolation Mode". They should appear on their parent layer instead.

Reduce & refine the SVG code that Illustrator exports!
Illustrator creates bloated and messed up SVG code. Please Adobe, make Illustrator so it Exports much cleaner and simpler code.
I'm working with a team of developers and they mock the SVGs I'm giving them. They won't even use many of them, because every single KB matters, and when an SVG file goes from 10KB to 50kb to 100KB, it makes a really REALLY big difference when including in an application or website, so much so, that the developers refuse to use some of my SVGs!
I've attached a script generated SVG (Clean) and the same exact file after being…

Adjusting gradient on ONE selection adjusts ALL other objects with the same gradient
When I select ONE object with an existing gradient and then try to adjust it, it will change ALL objects that have that same gradient. Extremely frustrating.

Define the Start and Stop of a Variable Width Profile on a closed path
When using a Variable Width Profile on a closed path the starting and end points are arbitrarily chosen. It would be nice to have an additional option to move the starting point around a path and not necessarily on a anchor point, instead of being forced to cut the path to reset the start.

Trim view stops working when artboards are hidden
When you hide artboards, Trim View stops working. Some times I hide artboards because it removes the border created by the artboards. A borderless artboard is more true to what the final export/print will look like. But when I hide the artboards, the trim view is disabled. Please bring back trim view even though artboards are hidden!

Overhaul of Illustrator's 3D capabilities.
Illustrator's 3D effects are hugely outdated. Something that matches or even exceeds After Effects would be a would boost to the program.
Heck, even something that allows you to easily rotate and move the shapes around in 3D space like AE would be great. Illustrator's current 3D tool are clumsy and cumbersome.
5 votesIllustrator introduced a new panel for creating 3D shapes in October 2021 — '3D and Materials'. Older effects are still available as 'Classic 3D'.

Shortcut button for stroke width.
Why has there never been a shortcut for stroke width? For illustrators, this is a command done so often, that's it's a bit of a burden not having this as an option.
And I mean for strokes that are selected, after being drawn out already, not for the brush itself.
