  1. Reversing order of objects

Sometimes it's useful to change order of selected objects, making bottom-most go topmost and vice versa.

I understand possible complications — what would AI do when selected objects have other unselected objects between them (meaning order)?
For example, I have these objects in Layers:
    A
    1
    B
    C
    2
    3
I select 1,2,3 and do proposed 'Reverse order' command.
I expect order to become this:
    A
    3
    B
    C
    2
    1
I see two fitting places for this command: Layers palette menu or Object > Arrange
It's scriptable, but I would like to have it by default.

  2. Fullcap function doesn't work for ydieresis

The fullcaps function doesn't work for the character “ÿ” y-dieresis. All the other letters work correctly, and it works in inDesign too, the problem seems to appear only in AI and PS

  3. Constrain proportions and distances

It would be great to have the possibility to constrain object dimensions and distances inside groups according to their parent or the whole canvas. This function is a basic setting in many UI/UX applications (responsive behaviour for layout, buttons, etc.)

  4. Changeing force of Bezier handles without changeing their orientation

    Case study:

    1. click Direct Selection Tool (white arrow)
    2. click a curve segment (not vertex) of any shape
    3. drag

See how the orientation of Bezier tangents at both ends of the segment change orientation? This is most unhelpful. If, instead of dragging the mouse, you use keyboard increments (arrows), then the tool acts the correct way -- changeing the Bezier handles length, or "force", while retaining their direction, or "azimuth".

I understand the interest of the present behavior, but I believe it would be great if there was a modifier key to activate the "keyboard" behavior when using the mouse drag.

  5. always create spines for blends

When you create a blend between two or more closed paths, Illustrator automatically generates a blend spine that you can edit.

But when your blend involves at least one open path, suddenly Illustrator decides you don't need a spine. If you want one, you have to draw an approximation of the spine you figure your blend would have, probably move it around a lot to put the blend where you want it because you guessed wrong as to where Illustrator thought the center of the paths in your blend would be, and then finally do the blend spine tweaking you…

  7. Converting variable fonts and color fonts when saving

Periodic saving is a natural part of design work. Now when I periodically save I get to watch the 'wait bar' slowly slide by while it converts variable fonts and color fonts to objects. I DON'T even have any of those on my computer.

    1. Illustrator 22.0.1
    2. See above
    3. Shouldn't have to wait to convert something that doesn't need converting.
    4. See above.
    5. I don't have a file to upload. It happens on all files.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.3.1 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

  8. Allow users to change default setting for miter limit.

I frequently use the Object - Path - Offset path tool, and I always have to change the miter limit. I would like to be able to define my own default value so I would not have to change it every time I use the function.

  10. Import/Export DXF AAMA/ASTM

In order to be able to work back and forth with Fashion Cad Softwares, it should be useful for Illustrator to handle AAMA or ASTM standard of DXF.
I guess that Artboards could act as "Blocks" in order to remain the Pattern names and the layer hierarchy of entities (for trace, cut, punch or text)

  11. Allow selecting a clipping mask by its fill

Currently, I need to select clipping masks by their edge, which is tricky. I prefer selecting objects by their fill.

  13. Find and replace graphics

One of the greatest features of Freehand, and something I miss greatly in Illustrator, is the "Graphic Find And Replace" tool. I use the text find and replace a lot and bringing the same tool set to the graphics side would help with production greatly.

Some of this functionality can be found with "select same as ..." but is more limited and requires extra steps. Or working with symbols but that's less flexible.

  14. Support for 9-slice scaling for assets in libraries

Many projects rely on the sharing of assets, but when these can't be correctly scaled or stretched due to the lack of support for 9-slice scaling, the shared library is of little use. It is especially a problem in responsive projects, where a number of items can have varying heights or withs such as menu bars, buttons and modals.

This has been a problem for years now.

When can we expect to see this remedied?

  15. Get rid of Adobe Stock

I am really really sick of having Adobe Stock rammed down my throat. I don't want it, never will. Give me the option to turn it off!

  16. Drag and drop artwork between documents in same place

Photoshop allows to drag-n-drop artwork between documents in same place, when you hold Shift.
In Illustrator, no matter what you hold, artwork would be dropped where cursor is pointed, with no respect to original X,Y coordinates.
    I desperately need this!

Quite often I have to copy artwork, containing huge raster images, from one document to another. I need them to be placed in same place, snapped on grid, but AI just drops it. The only way to keep coordinates — is to copy/paste in front/place, which takes an EON to do with my big raster images.

  17. Center point invisible while moving object with dragging

Center point (set in Attributes palette with 'Show Center' button which is default for Live Rectangle and Ellipses) becomes invisible when you drag an object. And because I often use center to match position to certain point on a grid, I cant properly position object and get angry.
    Hulk illustrate!
Please see animation attached for clarification.

  18. Percentage rulers

Photoshop has Percentage as a unit for its ruler, and I find it very useful when one needs to center an element, or drag a guide in the middle or the third of the image, especially as one can stick to the ruler marks.

I always wondered why Illustrator did not have that functionality.

  19. Library Organization

I can't figure out a way to organize our cloud libraries. We are trying to make one library per client and having everything in chronological order can make it really hard to find icons and other elements that could be grouped by category. If we could drag them around to rearrange that would be great, if we could create little groups or folders of them like swatches that would be even better.

    Thank You!
