1. Make an option for shadows from separate 3D objects to be unified to avoid overlapping darkness

   Why do shadows overlap if applied to multiple shapes at the same time?
   Shadows are subtractive and so applying the shadows individually to each shape makes no sense as you end up with a darker patch where the two objects' shadows overlap, which is not how shadows work. There should be an option to toggle to apply shadows as one unified "shape" or effect so that this is not an issue.

4. The Dimension Tool needs to have live updates

   I like the new dimension tool, but it's not very helpful unless it updates the displayed dimensions when the size of the dimensioned object is changed. It should stay attached to the selected points when the size of the shape is changed as well.

   The Beta 28.4.0.7 now create live dimension objects, that track and follow the changes to the measured objects: resizing, rotating, moving...

   As for now, moving only dimension breaks the link and expands the dimension (hopefully will change, and break the link only).

   Moving an object with its related dimension currently expand the dimension as well (hopefully won’t do it either).

   Please test the change and share feedback — it helps a lot!

5. Add an option for Pathfinder to make compound paths instead of groups

   If you draw a row of rectangles (with gaps) and hit Unite button in Pathfinder — Ai will create a group.

   But if you hold Alt, then hit Unite, and then hit Expand in this panel — Ai will make create a compound path!

   I almost always want a compound path.
   And I hate this workaround, since it requires twice as much operations (yeah, 2 instead of 1!). Another workaround is an action to ungroup and make a compound path — which is still a 2 steps operation!

   The alternative is to have a panel full of actions for each of the Pathfinder’s buttons — which is just stupid since I just have one already, it's called Pathfinder! Why should I create a complete duplicate of it to workaround this?

   What I want is just an option in Pathfinder which makes it to create compound paths instead of groups.

   And I want it by default.

6. Add "Layer" to the application menu like File, Edit, Object... like Photoshop has.

   Add "Layer" to the application menu like File, Edit, Object, Type, Select, Effect, View, Help.

   Like Photoshop has.

   Explanation: Reading through the menu items is much more intuitive when learning about the application capabilities in regards to many features. Going from Photoshop to Illustrator, there are many similarities however the unique separations of the features such as accessing and interacting with the layers is one of the main inhibitors during my orientation to using illustrator to the degree to which I use photoshop.

9. Press Alt while creating a radius / diameter dimension to toggle these two mode on the fly

   Currently Dimension tool requires you to orient your cursor when creating a radius or diameter: inside of the clicked shape to create a diameter or outside to make it a radius.

   This is very nifty, sure.
   But:

   1. The tool hardly tells you about it when you draw. The only hint Ai give us is a blue bar (that we all tired of seeing, because everything in Ai now pops and shouts and distracts — I’m speaking about use, Text To Vector!) — I attach the screenshot of it for those who blinked and missed it.

   2. If I work with a tiny circle and I want to mark a diameter for it, I’d have to precisely aim inside of this little area — and this give me very little control over the angle of the line produced. Especially important, since you just ignore Shift to constrain the angle, which is respected by any other construction tool in Ai.

   So, for this request, please introduce a modifier key we can use to toggle radius/diameter as we draw, without moving the cursor in or out.
   Opt / Alt will do.

10. Press Shift to constrain the angle of a radius / diameter dimension

    Shift is universally used to constrain a drawn art to 0-45-90° angles when using a tool. This applies to lines, rectangles, other shapes, anything that can be clearly oriented.

    The Dimension tool breaks the paradigm — we can’t hold shift to constraint the angle of the drawn dimension line when creating radii or dimeters.

    Some standards require us to have these lines too use integer steps, like 15° or 30°... this is very hard to comply now.

    Please either make the tool to respect angles set in Preferences > Smart Guides, or make it a separate setting in the tool’s options.

12. Preferences did not copy from previous Ai version to Ai 2025

    The recent Illustrator update did not copy all the our previous settings & preferences. So we need to manually do it again. Previous versions doesn't have this issue? The only reason why we update is because our clients are using the latest Ai, but after update, preferences need to MANUALLY RE-DO! Why it keeps on happening! We are a 24/7 company. My goodness! Adobe!

13. Identify Newly Installed Fonts in Adobe Illustrator

    Problem:

    Managing large font collections in Adobe Illustrator can be challenging, especially when installing new fonts. With hundreds or even thousands of fonts, identifying recently added ones becomes a tedious task, often requiring manual scrolling and searching through the entire font menu.

    Proposed Solution:

    Implement a feature in Illustrator that allows users to easily identify newly installed fonts. Here are two potential options:

    Filter by Install Date: Add a sorting option within the font menu that displays fonts by their installation date. This would allow users to quickly see the most recently added fonts at the top of the list.

    "New Fonts" Badge: Introduce a temporary visual indicator (badge) next to newly installed fonts within the font menu. This badge would disappear after a designated period (e.g., one week) or upon user interaction (e.g., clicking the font).

14. Remove the requirement for an application frame for multiple monitors

    I don't use the application frame, as it is less productive. Please remove the requirement to use an application frame for multiple monitors. There is NO technical reason why I can't simply drag a document from one monitor to another.

15. Menu and Tool UI text, sliders, buttons and fields should be easier to click. larger clickable area around each tool options.

    The clickable area of many UI elements are smaller than they appear making the process tedious an needlessly taxing.

    In my pic my cursor is clearly inside the opacity field but I cannot yet activate it. As it is currently design, I need to be unnecessarily precise. Makes no sense.

    The entire UI could stay the same size but clickable areas should become larger.
    Text based buttons like opacity should be treaded like buttons with a large clickable area (opacity in a box with ample padding).

    There would only be improvements to the UX, no downsides.
    If anyone has suggestions on how to better articulate or title, I'm open.

16. Improve intertwine for gradients on strokes and effects

    Improve intertwine to allow gradients along a path before intertwine is made, then fully implement drop shadows to overlap intertwined segments. See attachment explaining workaround I produced along with high res rasterization to show where result is better than Illustrator display on monitor.

17. Embed as attachment a DXF version of the illustration in the Export as PDF option

    Most often when designing files for logo or marquing tools we need to export a viewable PDF version and e CAD file as DXF.
    In order to keep them synced, it's convenient to attach the DXF as an attachment in the PDF.

    Could it be possible to impement this workflow in Illustrator? either in the "Export PDF" option or via a script/action command?

18. Add metric units in 3D

    When generating 3D, even if 2D path could be very precise in dimension, the 3D volume is most often expressed in proportion (from 0 to 100%)

    When you try to export for 3D printing it could be more usable to be able to express in metric units...
    Like it has been done in Photoshop some times (years) ago ;-)

19. Please add Illustrator option to maintain text color

    Could you please add an option for us to keep the color we chose for the text in an illustrator file we're currently working on?

    Meaning: Say I am writing text in a file, but I want separate text boxes and I want to keep the same color, rather than Illustrator defaulting back to black or whatever color was set as default in the preferences.

    I'd like to be able to check a box to keep the color I am using for the text rather than having to go back to the color and subsequently the default sizes set in the Main preferences. It's time consuming to keep having to change both the color and size for each text area I create in a document.

20. Batch Generation on Gen Ai (text-to-vector) Features

    Do you know something that would be cool?
    Some script only for testing purposes, or maybe this could be a feature.

    The script could generate all the 5 levels of Detail of Text-to-Vector
    (and/or all levels of any feature that have or will have intensity control)

    I mean generating 5 copies, each one with the one of the 5 levels of the detail. and keep the other settings as the same for all the generations.
    (the same for other gen ai features)

    I do this manually, but I will be very happy with a feature that does this for me.
    I know this will spend a lot of credits. But we can compare faster, instead do it manually.
    What do you think people? Is this possible?
