  1. Provide SVG output scaling option (with 96 ppi default)

    When using Save As... SVG, Illustrator sets the bounding box pixel dimensions in the SVG header using 72 pixels per inch. So a 10" x 10" artboard will produce an SVG file with its pixel dimensions set to 720px x 720px. This is a very old-fashioned default scaling, since every other modern application I have encountered displays imported SVGs using 96 dpi . This means each SVG produced by Illustrator appears to shrink when imported into almost any other modern application. Please either:
    a) Change Illustrator's default scaling calculation to use 96 dpi.
    b) Provide an option/switch in the SVG…

  2. Don't force baseline shift settings to be sticky

    For me, I only rarely need to adjust baseline shift settings (usually when I want to adjust the verticality of a trademark symbol relative to body copy.

    Unfortunately, Illustrator retains the baseline shift value, so subsequent text has it applied by default, forcing me to reset it. I'd absolutely love it if that setting defaulted back to zero, given the infrequency with which I actually need to use it (for me, it's the exception, not the rule). Generally after my occasional need for a baseline-adjusted character, I'm forced to type in new text, manually reset the baseline shift value to…

  3. Create Working Version or Working Artboard

    Often times when working on a Logo or Design Project, I create type that I eventually turn into outlines for the final artwork -- and what my clients receive. It would be very convenient to have an Artboard within the document that does not print nor show up in a PDF, but remains in the native file. It would allow for "instant typography fixes" within the same document and a true "working" file during design phase.

  5. I just think the Pantone no. can be changed to any name, sometimes it is quite a trouble to a designer

    I just think the Pantone no. can be changed to any name, sometimes it is quite a trouble to a designer. Some Customers need accurate Pantone color instead of CMYK.

  7. On the free form gradient tool can you allow each circle to be smaller for more detailed illustrations?

    This free form gradient tool is my favorite update of all time. But I'd like to be able to have more detail and control. The circles are too big to allow for this and it really limits the tool.

  8. Eyedropper automatically adds colour to swatches

    I would suggest a function where eyedropper automatically adds picked color to swatches. Sometimes I take color from the picture and I have to first create an object, use eyedropper and then add it to swatches.

  9. Convert embedded images between different formats/compression schemes...

    Currently, if I embed an image as a TIF, the resulting AI file will be larger than if I embed the same image as a JPEG. It would be nice if I could convert embedded images between file formats and have control over compression methods / levels so that I could convert the embedded TIF to something lighter in size such as a JPEG - all from within illustrator.

  10. Add option for sketch-style relative positioning for grouped objects

    Ex: I create a button that consists of a rectangle with the text "submit" centered in it. No matter how wide or tall I make the rectangle, I want "submit" to remain centered horizontally and vertically within it.

    Sketch allows this via "pinning". I can set a parent object-- in this case, the rectangle-- and tell a child object---in this case, the text-- to maintain a certain distance from the top, left, right, and/or bottom of the parent object, or to remain centered to the object at all times, regardless of how the parent is scaled.

  11. Add menu highlighting the same as the new InDesign feature

    I find the new menu highlight option very useful in InDesign. It would be helpful in all Adobe products.

    Please add menu highlighting the same as the new InDesign feature.

    In the attached I have highlighted PDF and Print Presets.

  12. Allow Illustrator scripts to run in background

    I use a script to package a lot of ai files at once. Currently, the Illustrator window needs focus to run the script, or else the script will pause. If Illustrator could do this by itself in the background, it would eliminate the need to wait for the script to finish.

  13. Precision for Wacom in illustrator is absurdly painful! Can't select nodes! This has been a bug for ages!

    Improve Wacom support! Using even the latest wacom intuos pro it's impossible to select a node when drawing as it expects you to hit the exact pixel... Who can do that!!!!!

  14. Fix the "Restore" AI Window Size when opening an AI file from File Explorer

    What we want is simple, make it so that opening an AI file from File Explorer does not change if AI is in windowed mode, or fullscreen mode.

    This has been an issue for years that disrupts the workflow of users on a regular basis. Here is an old forum thread going back as far as June 2012 further detailing this ongoing issue: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1026020

  15. Hot key to cycle through objects when many are close together or stacked and you select one of them...

    When zoomed out, or there are many objects in the same area, it would be nice if I could select one, and then hit a hot-key to cycle between other objects that are nearby, or behind the selected object. Right now, I have to lock or hide the selected object to be able to select another one that is very close or behind it.

  16. Select elements of a compound object in the Layers panel

    I don't understand why a compound object can't be expanded in the Layers panel to reveal its elements, and let me select and manage them. Just like I can see and select elements in a (clip) group, and cat go to into isolation mode with a compound. What's the rationale to prevent this ?

    It would be nice if Illustrator would notify me on open if a linked/placed item has changed since the AI file was last saved.

    I am familiar with InDesign and Photoshop. I am really trying to use illustrator on a project. I am fairly new to illustrator and am using the latest version as of 10/30/2018. I have to say the way you use and set colors in Indesign is either horribly broken (i.e., Bug) or it is not at all intuitive or similar to other Adobe tools.     There was a bug which allowed to accidentally drag-n-drop tools and insert them into other tools’ subgroups.

    It was fixed by introducing a special mode to enable this. No accidents with lost tools should happen. Please comment back if it happens for you in latest versions.
