1. Pin Contextual Task Bar position (like in Photoshop)

   Hi Adobe,

   While I love the idea of the contextual toolbar, I'm sure I am joined by many in my opinion that it really gets in the way a lot of time, covering up parts of the design you'd like to see, making it hard to resize or move an object precisely and so on.

   I'm extremely happy that I can just permanently pin the bar in the bottom of the screen (or wherever I want it) in Photoshop, but this option is entirely missing in Illustrator.

   The bar will remain where it is for the duration of my work after I move it, but the position is not retained going from document to document or when I restart Illustrator. Can you PLEASE add an option to permanently pin the position like in Photoshop?

   It's either that or I'll have to deactivate it entirely as it's more annoying than it is helpful when it gets in the way all the time. The benefit just doesn't outweight the annoyance, I'm sorry.

   Please try it when it gets available and comment back if it works for you as expected.

2. Make it flexible to stylize graphs and edit data without messing the graph design

   Please allow it that we can stylize the graphs without ungrouping it so we can still edit the data anytime as needed. Creating graphs (data and style) should be efficient. As of the latest version, every time we edit graph data, the horizontal lines (x-axis) get messed up. (Please see attachment with file name: graph with style...)

   And there is this wide space on the start (left of the graph). Not sure why the graph tool has this wide space from the left side every time it generates the graph. (Please see attachment with file name: graph wide space...)

3. X & Y Sliders for Quicker Movement and Precision

   Please make X and Y position for an object have a slider like After effects. Instead of clicking the arrow keys or putting in a value, I should be able to select and object, then hover over they X or Y value and use the slider to only affect the object in one direction. This would greatly speed up layout design and allow for more precision. After effects does this perfectly already, and I think it would be a great addition to Illustrator. I would also say this feature could be added to W and H.

4. Allow new Smooth command (not the tool) to be a live effect also

   New Smooth is quite handy to deal with rugged shapes. But it is also introduces the new 'dialog-less' approach, when we are basically given a dialog that auto-commits on dropping a selection. Once it is dropped, the change is applied. We will get accustomed to that.

   But imagine I smoothed something, then get distracted, and returned to the smoothed path a while after. To undo and reapply this I’d have to go back in History (at least we finally have it).

   What if we can apply this as an effect to an object, rather than a immediate filter? It means we can later go back to settings and change the value, and Expand Appearance of it when needed.

   Both approaches are usable, so please add it as an effect also.

5. Illustrator desktop windows版でのツール切替えのショートカット　

   MacOSと同じように、WindowsのIllustratorでも、日本語入力状態でツール切替えのショートカット（vで選択ツール・sで拡大ツール・rで回転ツールなど）が使えるようにしてほしいです。あるとないとでは、便利さが段違いですから。

   As per the comment, Illustrator on the web is now a thing and you can try it.

7. Generate Proper Filenames and Layer Names Instead of Untitled-1 and Layer-1

   We need Generate Name button for saving a file depending on its content, format and target project folder. Also layers could be named properly.

   Also it seems obvious that, besides generating a new name, the system could also use information from the document's presets, such as the document type (e.g., web, phone, book, etc.), document size (e.g., A4, 291x210mm, 1920x1080px, etc.), and colour and bit depth (e.g., CMYK, RGB, LAB, 8-bit, 16-bit, etc.).

8. I want to control how many pop-ups I see.

   I'm just trying to work, Adobe, but all the pop-ups are driving me mad! The tool tips are fine, but to be working away and be bombarded with this pop-up telling me to share my work and then another asking if I know how to do such-and-such.... I discover new features on my own whenever the app is updated, and if I want to find out anything else, I know how to do that. I don't need constant reminding. Please, please please, Adobe, please let this be a preference setting that can be turned off.

9. Ability to save presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting

   Illustrator allows us to save appearance attributes as graphic styles, but recently we got the complex 3D and Materials effect that has a lot of different parameters in it.

   The current system allows us to save all of these parameters altogether: extrusion depth, rotation angles, material settings, applied lights...
   But if we need to save ONE of these — that is, for example, only the material, or only the lights, or only extrusion and rotations, — Ai does not provide means to do it.

   Please introduce a system to save presets per each tab the 3D and Materials panel has: Object, Materials, Lighting.

   Also think of the method to store these as additive styles and incorporate it in Graphics styles maybe, to avoid blurring the preset system.

10. Dynamic Connector Symbols

    Connect two objects with a third, dynamic symbol.

    A new class of Symbol that can be assigned properties of Rotate, Extend, Scale etc. and a new class of Group called an Assembly.

    e.g 1. A bullet point and a number in a circle can be connected by a symbol set with the properties of Radial Rotate and Extend, so the when either the bullet or the number are moved the connector symbol adjusts its length to remain anchored to the centre of the other two objects.

    e.g. 2 A graphic is connected to create an Assembly of two or more other objects with properties of Focus Rotate and Scale, so that if any of the other objects are moved it is resized (either proportionally or disproportionally depending on selected options) to fill the space (based on its original size relative to the other objects) and rotated (based on where the densest number of other objects are). So a central arrow graphic would scale if the surrounding target graphics are moved closer or further away, but never beyond the nearest of the surrounding objects, and would point in the direction of the most objects in any direction.

    This would be useful in annotation, plans (engineering, mapping etc.), flow charts and diagrams.

    Symbol properties are set when creating the symbol and connection properties are set when applying to a connected assembly. For example a connection property may be tangential rather than radial so the connector is always angled from the outside edge of one of the parent objects, but the centre of the other.

    Just select several objects and apply “Assemble”. The objects appear unaffected and can all still be moved independently but, once a Connector is dragged on from the symbols palette, they are highlighted, the Connector can be dropped in place and constraints applied. Several Connectors can be applied to one Assembly so a cloud of objects and be connected via several paths which will adjust dynamically if any of the objects are moved later.

11. I would like to see the output of the subject created by the generated AI with each part layered by part.

    I would like the subject created by the generated AI to be output with parts divided into layers by part (right eye) (left eye) (outline) (eyebrows), etc.
    This is because I want the puppet to move immediately in Adobe Character Animatror.

12. Allow to make sharp transitions using Width Tool

    Width Tool allows us to set width markers on a path, to make its stroke’s outline blend between set cross-sections. We have some limited controls over these markers, we can make each side have its own width, we can snap them to points, but that’s it.

    What we also need is way to make this transitions sharp, rather than smooth.
    Look at the image attached.

    The path on the top is a stroke with a variable stroke profile.
    The path on the bottom is a demonstration of what we want (an art brush actually).

    Sure, we can fake this behavior duplicating an existing marker close the the original (fighting the Ai’s urge to merge them). But if we expand these, this fake sharp transition generates a ton of points we don’t need, and it’s not actually a sharp point at all.

    At the meantime, Ai has the Curvature tool, that allows to quickly toggle sharp/smooth for points with a double-click or Ot/Alt-click. Double click for Width tool opens Width Point Edit dialog, but Opt/Alt does nothing — make it toggle the transition type.

    At the moment we have to build strokes like this with art brushes, which can’t be edited interactively on canvas, it’s a trial and error process. Adding sharp transitions to the Width Tool will make it much easier.

13. The size of the box should attenuate AI generator detail

    I love the new AI feature, but creating a smaller box for the AI to generate in should attenuate the detail. A simple "bird" command creates an overly-detailed drawing for the scene, even with the detail slider set to "1"

14. Share to Review: Attach files to comments, Zoom more than 100%

    Attach file to comment. Typically the client add in quick sketches, reference images, new logo files and so on and it would be super helpful if they could attach those files to the comment in review mode to avoid having to still use e-mail or similar services to get quick assets between us and them.

    Deeper zoom function: The pdf can only be zoomed in to 100% of the artboard setting, so some details can't be seen. Infinite zoom would be ideal.

    Hi.
    I have an issue trying Adobe Illustrator. I would like to try the stencil features to find out if it will meet my needs. The problem is i am forced to add my credit card details just for using the 7 day free trial. I am not prepared to do that at this time due to the fact that Adobe may not work out for me. Then im stuck dealing with automatic payments.
    The other issue is the high monthly or yearly subscription costs. I would only use illustrator once in a while and cant justify the monthly cost.
    And lastly, Adobe doesnt have an option to buy the full software for one payment only.
    With that being said, im disappointed in Adobe for not offering a 7 day free trial for people to try the software, and that you cant buy the full program.
    I feel Adobe are hindering themselves from potential customers.
    At this point in time, i will have to decline the services that are currently in place.
    At the moment, i am using Photoshop Elements 10, and i find the stencil features are less than adequate, and are not as defined as it could be. Hence im looking to try any other means that are out there.

17. Updating artboard dropdown to include social media and saving custom artboards

    The current artboards dropdown menu hasn't been changed in years. It should include social media and trending medium sizes. We should also have the ability to save artboard sizes that are custom to our needs. Just add a "Save artboard" in the dropdown or tool workspace. The current method of saving a template and then having to search, open and then resave the template takes too long and requires too many steps.

19. Share for Review Proof Approval

    Adding functionality for "Proof Approval" would be huge! And would allow the process to remain within Adobe as opposed to having to go outside Adobe products. Turning on this functionality when needed, allowing for proof to be sent that can be officially approved within AI that:

    a. Doesn't allow the user the ability to download the PDF and steal the artwork.

    b. Sends confirmation that the Proof was Approved or Not Approved with feedback. This can help streamline the approval process ensuring everyone is aware when a proof is sent, and status changes (Pending, Approved, Not Approved, etc.).

    c. Saves the history of approval status and changes, so that the proof approval date, time, and by whom can be seen and referenced. This is for records and potential disputes.

    d. Possibly a "Compress and Convert Images to Raster" option that could allow the person approving the proof to download the proof marked "Approved" for their records. This again protects from clients stealing artwork.

    The Retype convert to live type feature makes it too easy for clients, vendors, and 3rd parties to convert uneditable work into editable work. It's a nice tool for your own work, but it is potentially bad for business.

    Please add permissions features that allow us to control whether or not our files (PDF/AI) can be manipulated in this way by others or reconsider rolling out the Retype conversion feature.

    Please DO NOT roll out the Retype convert outline to live type feature unless this protection is added to illustrator.

    I realize there are probably a bunch of ways around this, but let's not add it to the default feature set without thinking about the consequences.
