Paste on selected Artboards
The user should be able to paste on selected artboards. Currently we have to paste on all of them or one of them. With the advent of many more artboards, the user has to spend a lot of time pasting on each artboard.
34 votesIllustrator now allows to Paste on Selected Artboards.
1. Copy the artwork from the source artboard.
2. Open the Artboards panel or select the Artboard tool. Then, select the target artboards.
3. Go to the Edit menu and select a paste option (Paste in Place, Paste in Front, or Paste in Back) to position the artwork as needed. Alternatively, right-click the selected Artboard to access the paste options directly.
Shortcuts are also available.

Right-click Contextual menu with Layers panel (same as in Photoshop)
Wouldn’t it be nice if Illustrator had a similar contextual menu as in Photoshop?
It would be much easier to e.g. duplicate a layer, using right-click, than via tiny-hard-to-point-at hamburger menu at the layer palette.

Effects Gallery interface extremely tiny on 4K resolution screen - Windows 10. No fix for it.
Using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator. I've just bought a brand new Dell XPS 15 it has a 1050 NVIDIA Graphics card, Windows 10 and a 4K screen. The interface is extremely tiny. It's usable but the effects gallery is too tiny to use.
I'm not sure if this a "bug" per se, but none of the fixes available online work (this included creating a Prefer External Manifest file and code for the Illustrator executable file). What I've read says this is a problem Adobe needs to address.
I'm extremely disappointed in this. What can I do to fix the interface?Using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator. Better Action Set Organization in Illustrator
We have a lot of Actions but only a few are needed at a time based on the workflow you're currently in. It would be great to have the "for the moment" unutilized actions hidden when in button mode. Action Sets functioning like Libraries while in Button Mode without having to delete and then reload is not a good way of going about this.

Ability to link "Data set name" upon CSV import for Variables panel
Currently when you "load variable Library" from a CSV illustrator defaults each Data Set with "Data Set 1, Data Set 2, Data Set 3, Data Set 4... ect."
Currently the only way I know to rename that data set is to manually rename each data set by selecting that data set from the drop down menu, and selecting "rename data set" from the options panel, and then either typing or copy and pasting some text in.
I use data sets for more batch like designing, it would be really nice if we could bind the data set name to a variable the same way we do objects in illustrator. I know you can do this with XML data, but seem to lose the ability to do so when loading in CSV libraries.
This would be particularly useful because I use "data set name" with batch exporting which right now is a blocker to my workflow. since the way I want to name files is not ""Data Set 1.png, Data Set 2.png, Data Set 3.png, Data Set 4.png... ect."
ideally I'd prefer to be able to select that data variable go into options and choose "Data set name" as an option.

Show missing link path/locations like InDesign. (To make relinking an image simple)
In the Link Panel - Indesign shows the file path for placed images and links (even when missing or embedded). In Illustrator's Link panel these path/locations are greyed out with no text, thus making finding a missing file purely guess work. Can the Indesign Links Panel be directly replicated to Illustrator so absolutely the same? Cheers

Additional arrow-key nudge values by using key combinations...
I would like the ability to specify multiple nudge values for the arrow keys to be used when certain key combinations are used - so that different nudge distances could be achieved with different arrow key combinations, such as:
Shift+Arrow
Ctrl+Arrow
Alt+Arrow

Add 'Flatten image' option to TIFF Export options
Every TIFF I export form AI has one layer inside, even when image is completely opaque. This bloats TIFF twice in size, and there is no option to NOT write alpha. I have to batch all my TIFFs to correct it.
Please, just add 'Flatten image' option to Export (you can set it unchecked by default to keep compatibility) that will convert layer to plain white background.33 votes -
Remember the 'Use Artboard' and 'Suffix' checkboxes when exporting
When I export (SVGs and other formats) I have to check "Use artboard" every time... why not just remember this setting has been checked or uncheck from before
33 votesThe latest Beta 29.5 52 now remembers these options in the Export As dialog and keeps it between sessions. Please try to test it to see if it works as expected for you and comment back.

Font identification
Provide an automated routine to identify fonts that were converted to outlines, or that are in a bitmap format.
33 votesHello,
We have started working on the tech that allows us to enable the following:
- Ability to convert the outlined/expanded text back to live text.
- Ability to lock objects to a character/glyph of a live text, allowing users to change the text (properties) while the object stays locked into the character.
As we work through the complexities of handling different font families, font size, and other font properties, we would love to meet with you and share our thinking around it and understand :
- Your use cases and workflows that this feature will help you with.
- What is most essential for you.
- The workarounds that you currently use to achieve this.

Allow more math operations than one, support fractions input, support calculations in all numerical fields
It's handy when in Illustrator you have units set to picas and you input pixels just by adding the px, but not so handy when you need to add a fraction and because you don't know you have to calculate the value first, instead of for example typing 1+9/16 and not 1.5625.
Other example is when you're setting guides or dividing grids: you need to break a space in x times or create a pattern.
CorelDraw has it and saves a huge chunk of time.33 votes -
Objects on Path needs a way to control spacing / gaps precisely, with a value
At the moment we can’t control spacing (gaps) between objects on path ion the new Objects on Path type of object (what a beautiful sentence).
We can only eyeball it with a slider, which is incrementing by points (despite me having set millimeters as my ruler units).
There is no field I can type something like 0.125 mm, or at least a modifier key (like Cmd/Ctrl) to make the slider go slower ×10 (or any other value I choose somewhere in Preferences or at least in Adobe Prefs file, buried in Ai’s folders).
Perhaps yo should also allow us to dobule-click the slider itself and enter the number directly in the field there on canvas, but having one in Contextual Task bar will do (otherwise why having it).

An ability to disable all generative tools and options, like Text to Vector Graphic, Generative Pattern...
I'd like to be able to turn off the new feature for "text to vector graphic (beta)" and others like it if possible, or for these to be disabled from the start, with an AI-free build.

1. Disable all "Generative AI" marketing popups — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47696468
2. Remove Text to Vector from Properties panel — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47638688

LCH Gradients
Add support for gradient interpolation spaces other than sRGB, such as LCH (Lightness, Chroma, Hue). When creating a gradient between non-analogous colors, the LCH color space preserves saturation throughout the gradient, whereas Illustrator's gradients have a muddy center.
32 votesPerceptual gradients are now available in the latest 30.0 general build.
Toggle the option in the Gradient or Control panels.
Read more about it in this help article.
As stated there, important notes are:
- You won’t be able to expand a perceptual gradient into a gradient mesh
- Gradients added to CC Libraries don’t support this interpolation method — PDF format know nothing about it as a concept, it’s something only Ai does. The same reason prevents these to be exported as live gradient into PDF or SVG formats.
Note also, that some clipboard managers or extension would interfere in copy/pasting these, as reported here.
Please test it and comment back — this will help to improve this further.

Support SVG text-anchor styling on import/export
I often copy SVGs that I created with JavaScript (through D3.js) from a browser into Illustrator to continue working on it there. However, the text-anchor setting (left, middle or right aligned) does not come through and it is always left aligned, although the position might seem like it is middle or right aligned. Once you choose a different font or font-size, the mismatch between the original text align and what Illustrator has made of it becomes very apparent and can be quite the chore to adjust.
It would be great if Illustrator would properly handle the text-anchor style setting of any read in SVG :)

Ability to save presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting
Illustrator allows us to save appearance attributes as graphic styles, but recently we got the complex 3D and Materials effect that has a lot of different parameters in it.
The current system allows us to save all of these parameters altogether: extrusion depth, rotation angles, material settings, applied lights...
But if we need to save ONE of these — that is, for example, only the material, or only the lights, or only extrusion and rotations, — Ai does not provide means to do it.Please introduce a system to save presets per each tab the 3D and Materials panel has: Object, Materials, Lighting.
Also think of the method to store these as additive styles and incorporate it in Graphics styles maybe, to avoid blurring the preset system.

Switch to Eyedropper while editing text
While editing text, we often need to grab the Eyedropper tool to pick some formatting or color for the selected range from another object. An instinct whispers 'Press I key' — and it obviously but often unexpectedly replaces the range with the 'I'. Undo!
Then me might think of pressing Alt — and it does temporarily switch to Pan — which is cool and useful, since you can’t hit space.
We need a modifier to temporarily switch to Eydropper....but all modifiers are taken (except fort Ctrl+Shift, which swithes input languages if you have several for some users) and Ctrl+Alt+Shift (which is too long to be a viable solution).
What if we change the behavior of pressing Shift while in editing text mode? Most probably nobody needs to create new text object with vertical orientation while editing a text, right? Let’s use Shift for temp switching!
