Certain font styles are missing, like Montserrat Bold, Arial Bold, Myriad Condensed, etc.
I have ITC FrizQuadrata installed. This font family has 4 styles: normal, italic, bold and bold italic.
AI CC2017 does show all four.
CC2018 shows only one — 'ITC'.
It doesn't show it when you type family name, it doesn't show other styles in drop-down style list.
If I copy/paste text with needed font family style from 2017 to 2018, AI will show me two identical font names but two different preview near them (and again no italics).

Creative Cloud shows 4 font styles for Goudy Old Style - regular, regular italic, bold, extra bold. I select all 4 to import to ai, but the BOLD font style doesn't come over - only the other 3. I have the AppleIOS version - AI 2020.. Thanks, Chet

I have an issue/bug that is causing significant workflow issues and stress, and I have brought this up with support, as well as with the font foundry, for months without resolution.
A font variant that I have used regularly (as part of a corporate identity) has disappeared from the font drop down list after I upgraded to macOS Catalina. This issue is happening in all the latest versions of Adobe products (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.) Only ONE variant is missing -- 'Folio Bk BT - Book'. 'Folio Bk BT - Bold', as well as another similar font 'Folio Lt BT - Light' and 'Light Italics' all work normally. Only the Book variant doesn't show up. The font was working perfectly before the Catalina upgrade. It shows up on macOS Font Book, and works normally on all other apps including Microsoft Office. This is a bug across 2 computers I use, and both happened after the OS upgrade.
I have spent significant time speaking to the font provider troubleshooting (Fonts.com) and we have concluded it is a bug with Adobe products. Because it is the main font I use for all my documents, it is making my life very difficult. It was working perfectly before. I've done all the possible troubleshooting. Is there someone I can talk to directly about this?

I have CC2018.1 & CC2019.1 & 2020 installed on my macOS Catalina.
CC2018.1 can list Helvetica Regular but CC2019.1/2020 does not.
The font is installed by system here /System/Library/Fonts/Helvetica.ttc, and only one copy is installed.

Finally I can say that this issue can't be related to my computer or system cause I discoverd this problem also at the agency where I recently start working. I also was using helvetica neue but also other fonts had this issue. And this time also in InDesign.
Another issue related to this cause it happens at the same time also: If I save a document, illustrator will jump back 1-3 steps and in order to get to my latest version I need to close illustrator completley and restart it. (everytime) Also when working with typography the bounding box start to disappear randomly and I need to turn it on again and again and than settings like size/leading/letter spacing start not working or if I change the values Illustrator also jumps back 1-3 version and there is no way back to the latest version forward.

Using any font in the most recent update is causing Illustrator to lag and beach ball frustration

Also the Font name disappears too. — I already had a in depth conversation about this and other issues via mail but no solution yet.

First, I have done everything the Adobe support team told me and it didn't fix the problem. I have also reset Illustrator multiple times and re-install it and it didn't fix the problem. I also have no control an any Issues that I'm having so I can't tell you what I do that causes the problem it happens randomly like all Issues that I have shared and haven't shared yet.
I have attached a screenshot of the Issue that makes it clear whats happen with random fonts (typekit included).

Hi,
Does no one have a fix for this, or can lead me to who I can talk to about this?

The font style is visible in all tools but not in Illustrator and Photoshop. What is more than annoying... A hotfix would be nice because it's definitively a colossal blocker!

I encountered the same issue. Or more precisely, I've had this for years already.
- Fonts that are used get disappeared
- That happens right after saving a working file
- This is not a problem with font recognition, because everything is alright at first and when the problem arises restarting Illustrator resolves it, but only temporarily.
- This is not a problem specific to some .ai file, because very simple operations like starting from the blank file, using some font (eg. Myriad Pro Bold), and then saving the file are enough to replicate it.
- This is not font specific. But the font member on the top of the drop-down (often "regular") does not disappear (not entirely sure about this point though).
- This has something to do with multi-language support. English version of Illustrator has no problem, but Japanese and Chinese (simplified) versions do, and it looks like Harald Schmidt also uses Illustrator in a multi-language environment. In addition, after some extensive web search, I found no report of this kind in English websites, but several in Japanese.
- Changing some preference settings, specifically "Show Font Names in English", "Show East Asian Options", and Fill New Type Objects With Placeholder Text" didn't affect the issue.I'm using the latest 22.1 version on Windows, although I don't think this is quite relevant. I do hope some investigation will be made on it.

HI All, Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot, but this is my first post. I recently set up a new work computer (MacBook pro, High Sierra 10.13.6 ) to replace my older computer. I have typically made PDF's in illustrator using Arial font, but now when I open these older PDF's the text id highlighted as when the font is not recognized . as well if I import Arial text from excel it pastes it as symbols.
When I look for Arial in my type pull down it is not available and when I look in the Typekit too, it does not seem to be available, though Arial Narrow is now.
Is there away to get this font other than through the typekit? or a quick way to get Arial back into my font library?

Just recently purchased CC 2018. Although I have been using Illustrator since 1998, this is the first time I have worked with CC. And I'm having issues with the Type in Illustrator - it seems the font style file has not been installed [???] - for example with the Font Myriad Pro - there should be an option of regular, regular italic, bold, bold italic, etc - I can only get regular.
This issue HAS to be resolved or there is no point in continuing to use CC 2018. Please let me know what I need to do - does it need to be reinstalled - how do I do that - or who I can call?

Font stile types disappeare!
Same problem here:

Sometimes when the font type is changed, the font size also changes.
This is annoying! -
