Using scale tool on justified text results in changing line breaks
Illustrator CC 22.0.0 on Windows 10 x64 Pro
Have a column of Area Text, justified, with carefully defined line breaks so that words are hyphenated at particular places, or not hypenated at all.
When using either the scale tool (shift+click to scale proportionally) or the transform tool, all of the content should scale proportionally and the line breaks should not be changed.
The resulting rescaled text column has very slight changes to the line breaks. While shift+dragging, the text looks correct (just scaled proportionally, without any reflow or stretching), but when releasing the mouse, there is suddenly some text reflow on some of the lines. This destroys some very carefully set line breaks. What I want to happen is to make the text column larger with the line breaks exactly the same. This is not an issue of just scaling the text box, the text itself is also changing size - but not accurately. Checking/unchecking the "scale strokes and effects" in the transform dialog doesn't have any effect. The most frustrating thing is that once I have scaled to a new size (with the broken flow), scaling seems to work just fine - I can use the scale tool to proportionally scale the text with the "wrong" line breaks. It doesn't come up with new text flow each time.
I suspect that Illustrator is mishandling or ignoring font tracking or kerning values when scaling.

What a nonsense to define it in a way that it will not be scaled, too, and with a fixed value. Besides the hyphenation will be different in big boxes, too, so it does NOT only deal with the hyphenation zone!
It's absolutely no workaround to adjust the zone manually for each textbox! -
That 'break line' for hyphenation in Illustrator is called 'hyphenation zone', and it is indeed defined by an absolute value — and stays unscaled when you scale the text. Open Paragraph panel’s flyout menu and choose Hyphenation. The default value is 36 pt. The value is defined per text object, but there is no option to scale it with text — at least you can do it manually to make sure the result stays consistent.
Please try this and comment back. -

If you scale a text frame in the current Illustrator on Mac (at least), the text in the frame will scale differently compared to the text frame!
Can you please fix this, as text will be wrapped differently after scaling and cause unwanted errors!
It does not deal with any unit conversion.
Original width of text is 33,537 mm and it get's 87,197,mm, like it should (260% exactly), and text will be scaled from 9,953 pt to exactly 25,878 pt, exactly what it should be.
But text will be wrapped in the big size frame and not break until the text frame gets smaller than 81,755 mm! So there is -5 mm(!) buffer.
But text will be wrapped in the small text frame completely different. It will break at 36,891 mm, wich is more the +3mm compared to the original width. (and it will be wrapped completely different in Deli-ver with we and the end of the first line versus De-liver in the big frame with we in the second line!)
So this issue deals with an unexpected and complete different hyphenation.
