    It is probably hidden under the Rectangle tool. All basic shape Ai can draw are collected under one tool button. Click and hold the button to expand the tool’s menu.

    If not — how does the toolbar look for you?
    Have you tried to switch into and advanced toolbar with Window > Toolbar > Advanced? Does it have the Ellipse there?

    I just downloaded and the Ellipse will not open on tool bar and is not highlighted? What am I doing wrong?
