Adding an asset to the Asset Export panel adds another object with it
In the attached document when selecting one object and adding it to the Asset Export panel (with or without 'Option' key pressed), it'll always add the Light Red Curved brush the artboard #1, as if this line magnetized to all vectors on that artboard.

A new report got made, about older artwork appearing in an exported asset:
Export Assets (Elements) as SVG results in additional content in exported file

Wow. Can confirm. Thanks for the file!

Looks consistent at least... Worth inspecting the file. Can you share it, please?

Illustrator 26.0.1 on Windows 10.
When I try to export assets, they look okay at first but then will sometimes expand to include objects not in the group. If I'm fast enough at clicking the export button, I can still export assets one at a time without the extra objects.
I export assets all the time and I never encountered this issue until after the update to version 26. However, I haven't been able to repeat it in other files so it's possible that there's something wrong with that particular file.

Can you provide the file itself to test it?
If it does not get attached here, please send it over at sharewithai@adobe.com -

I just checked, and the stray pixels seem to be part of another element on my page. But, they aren't grouped to any other assets that I selected, so I don't know how they are getting included. I've tried changing the stacking order of the elements also, and it didn't help.

When I add an item to the Asset Export panel and then export it, the exported graphic is including a lot of extra pixels that weren't part of the item/group that I added.
In the attached screenshots, I first added an item. Then, when I deselected my item, the panel added extra padding to the asset. Then, when I went to export my assets, there was extra padding on almost all of my assets. I opened them in Photoshop to crop them back down to size. All the files had some stray white pixels that are not in my AI file.
I've had this happen on multiple files, for a long time now.

There is a bug in Illustrator 24.3 where groups added to Asset Export change to include objects not in the group. This happens on save and on asset rename.
I suspect this may be related to another annoying Illustrator bug where selecting objects sometimes appears to also select other unrelated objects somewhere else on the workspace.
