Scale or rotate when using preview does not work
When scaling any object in Illustrator 2019 when using the preview checkbox the scale percentage is immediately applied to the object. So, for instance, if I enter 110% and decide that is not enough, I enter 115%. The object is actually transformed 100% AND 115%! If I press cancel, the two transformations are applied to the object, and I need to click undo twice to get back to the original.
This happens for the rotate, reflect, and shear tools too.

In Illustrator 2020 everything is working for me (also with Rightfont).

Does anybody have this issue in the latest releases?

Same problem for me, also with InDesign.
I’m also using Rightfont. -

We just had more researches on this issue, we confirmed it is an issue with Illustrator natively, we hope the Illustrator Team will fix it soon.
And you can just deactivate the function auto activation fonts for Illustrator, please have a check the attached illustration.
We also will try to find a workaround to fix it.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thanks,
RightFont Support

All- Just to clarify- Here is the initial response I received from RF:
Hi CHRISTIE,Thank you for your feedback.
We just reproduced the issue and focusing on researching the issue, which is a compatibility issue with the function auto activation fonts.
And the issue is a native issue with Illustrator probably, we will try to get some help from Adobe team and try our best to fix it ASAP.To avoid the issue, you can now disable the function auto activation fonts temporarily by the following option when using Illustrator."
As you'll see in the attached screenshot, they show disabling all auto-activation, however, I was able to fix the issue on my end by only deactivating auto-activation in Illustrator.
Here's hoping for a true solution soon. Until then, this seems to be working (for me at least). -

Hi Illustrator Team,
This is the RightFont support, we had a research the issue, and we suppose it is caused by Illustrator natively. Could you please help us to make some debug on this issue? And we also will keep on it.
We also have a tested with InDesign by the same process, but we did not reproduce the issue when running RightFont 5.
Please take a look at the attached screen video. If you have any questions, please just contact us by the email support@rightfontapp.com.
Thanks,

Yes! Thank you, Anonymous. I'm using Right Font as well, so it looks like you're on to something. I'll try hitting RF up with the issue, too.

I have solved this issues (at least for myself). It is a combination of two or more documents (as described by Christie) and using the font management software RightFont. Quitting RightFont will make the problem go away. Just need to manually turn fonts off, otherwise they will deactivate when you quit RightFont

Been reviewing all posts relating to this, and at least found one poster that mentioned the bug negates if you only have one document open. Looks to be the case, so that may help as a workaround for now. Regardless, this is a major workflow killer.

Have the same issue! Wiping the preferences fixed it for 5 minutes than it was there again.

Update: adobe tech support said it may be due to corrupt prefs, so wiped them, will see if it resurfaces and report here if it does…

Also… the same problem is happening in Illustrator 2017!

It's not just Scale and Rotate but ALL Illustrator transform previews are MASSIVELY broken, clicking [√] Preview to see your transforms (scale, etc) cause stacking irreversible changes now. It's a mess…
If you are doing transforms via dialog windows —mathematically and absolutely accurate for instance— (Scale, Move, Reflect, Rotate, Shear, Transform Each) and select Preview before submitting, the preview will actually commit the change while previewing as if it was submitted… and subsequently stack each additional adjustment destructively while Preview is active. Please fix this!
