Swatches not naming properly vs document color mode
I create my document in CMYK but when I open my swatches the first time (I have done no copying or pasting into the document or anything to mess with any color settings), they are CMYK blends with RGB names. Why is it doing that and what can I do to fix it?

That’s weird!
Let’s try to figure it out. Can you please check the actual default document profile files you have installed on your computer?
Access this folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator <version>/<locale>
Open both Print.ai and Web.ai and check if they are actually in CMYK and RGB color spaces respectively. -

@Ton, The documents are made as print documents and set up with CMYK color space in the document creation panel. They still have RGB blends written for the CMYK swatches. They are not set up as documents that would normally be RGB color space with their color space changed to CMYK so there is no error message.

You will get a warning when you change color mode during creation of the document, but you need to click the warning triangle to see what the problem is.

If you create a new document based on a web or art & illustration preset (which are RGB documents) and select CMYK as color mode in the Advanced section, your swatches will have RGB names but will be converted to CMYK.
And for new document, based on a Print preset, if you change the color mode to RGB during creation, you will have RGB color swatches with CMYK names. After doing this, when you create new documents without changing settings, your new documents will inherit those settings.

I haven't had it change since it started being a problem. I can't use my swatch panel, I have to pull up a separate swatch window from the swatch libraries.

That’s strange... How consistent it is?
Is this still an issue for you in a newer releases? -

I have the opposite: a new RGB document has a swatches palette full of CMYK colours.
