Full Arabic support not available with multiple languages installed
macOS 10.13.6, Illustrator 2019
When any language version of Illustrator installed other than Arabic, the full Arabic support is not available. Digits Type and Diacritic Positions are missing from the Character palette, and RTL/LTR and Kashidas are missing from the Paragraph palette, and corresponding tools are missing from the toolbar.
Also, Arabic must be be installed from nothing - no previous language can be installed.
AI does have the Middle Eastern composer options in the Paragraph menu, and correctly ligatures Arabic when one is set, but RTL is needed for correct punctuation and number display.
Non-Arabic versions of AI do display Arabic with RTL, digit and kashidas correctly.
Reproduce:
Have English North America Illustrator installed.
Go to CC preferences and set the CC language to English (Arabic).
Install Illustrator (it is quick, as only Arabic components are needed).
Leave Arabic selected as language and start Illustrator. Go to AI preferences-Type and enable Indic options.
Illustrator should now have Middle Eastern options in the Character and Paragraph palettes, but they're missing.
Back to CC, preferences - switch language to English NA
Uninstall Illustrator - this removes English NA components, leaving only Arabic.
Switch back to Arabic language.
Start Illustrator - full Arabic options are still missing.
Back to CC (should still have Arabic language set).
Uninstall Arabic AI.
Install Arabic AI.
Start AI - it now has full Arabic support.

I think I’ve figured out the issue, and it appears to be a bug in the latest version of Adobe Illustrator (version 26.*, 2022).
https://twitter.com/cmoreno237/status/1564754841133613058?s=20&t=8vWG9bHqIVN9ev424PMoFAWhen I remove it and install version 25.0 (from last year; 2021), I can see the RTL options. When I update version 25, to 26 (2022), no matter what preferences I choose or or what composer I use, or what language I select, etc., RTL/LTR options in the paragraph panel are gone.

I have re-installed the app, and I am still experiencing this issue. I can't see the RTL/LTR option in the paragraph panel. It shows up in InDesign but not Illustrator. Tweet: https://twitter.com/cmoreno237/status/1560641757234298881

I have the same issue. RTL/LTR options were in a previous version of Illustrator, and now, no matter what options I choose or how many times I try to clear out preferences and re-install the software, I can't get these options to appear back in the paragraph panel. My default install language is English with Arabic support. Illustrator was working normally until I changed a preference setting (disabled Hindi Digits) in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. It was the only change I recently made to any Adobe-related app. I had to reinstall the app to fix the issue.

I had the same issue and followed this; for me it started working after uninstalling and then installing with arabic language set in CC. (Illustrator version 25.0.1)

After activating Indic Script support and changing my text to be Middle Eastern & South Asian Every-Line (or Single Line), I still am missing options for my character and paragraph menus, such as text direction (RTL vs LTR) and adding kashidas automatically.

Darpan, I'm sorry I can't easily check it myself, but do you have Paragraph Direction in Window > Type > Paragraph dedicated panel, not in the Properties one?

Please try to fix this soon as many must be facing this issue. Everyone will move away from CC

Please why do your developers keep changing some features working properly? Paragraph Direction has been removed. Now ARABIC has big issue. Unless we change all support files in the System, it doesn't work. It was working till a week ago and suddenly its removed???

Hi. For me it's very the same with the German Version! It's only possible to have all arabic options (paragraph and character palette) if I completely deinstall the German version, change the language and the install the English/Arabic version.
Basically it would be possible to work with this version, but the problem is, that then the complete UI is in English language!
If you do this procedure for InDesign (for ID it doesn't matter if you just do a "switch-install" (not uninstalling german version first) or do a full deinstall/install of arabic version), InDesign still has a German UI!
That's exacly what I want - a German UI, but with all arabic options. The Option in Illustrator Preferences "Show Indic Options" is there in the german version, but it's completely useless. Ironically the first option "Show East Asian Options" will do the job right - all east asian options will be shown if activated, but no more options if the second option "Show Indic Options" is activated.
For me the hole procedure of chaninging the language, installing it again and so on is totally idiotically.
Why has it to be so complicated?
In Illustrator and InDesign it should be just an option in preferences and boooom, all options should be there! -

I forgot one important step to get Arabic support working - when uninstalling Illustrator, make sure to check the option to remove preferences.
