File > Place svg: altered shapes
In Illustrator v24.0, File>Place of some svg images distorts the shapes. It works OK if I open the svg file directly in Illustrator v24.0, select the layer and paste it on my artboard (in another open file). It also works OK if I do File>Place in Illustrator v23.1.1.
The "attach a file" option here won't let me attach an svg (why not?) so I've attached an AI file instead. Hopefully if you export it to svg you can see the problems when importing that svg via File > Place. Some of the problem are: the "m" shape is missing a piece in the upper right, the "r" shape has a more rounded area where the shoulder meets the stem, and the top of the yellow "R" is too thin. And there are other more subtle errors.

I am having the same issue with .eps files and it is very frustrating, as our work is logo-based and I have used .eps files for years with no issues. The registered trademarks and other text in the logos appears just ever so slightly off.

I'm having the same problem...definitely, a bug...annoying nonetheless...I had to turnaround the project asap, so I did this...group the artwork, copy ...and paste in the ai file you needed to file>place.
Hope this helps, till adobe fixes the problem
