Enter Key Exports First Artboard By Default
After selecting an artboard range to export, hitting the enter key as a method to export the artboard range results in the first artboard being exported, not the range selected.

Seems to be a Mac-only issue, because I can’t reproduce it on Windows.
Does it still happen for you? -

When choosing File > Export, if you check "Use Artboards" and type in an artboard number in "Range", I've noticed that if you hit the "enter" key nothing happens, and then if you click "export" it will export all artboards, ignoring the range.
If you instead follow the above steps, but instead of hitting "enter" you click "export", it'll export just your artboard(s) specified in the range.

Totally agreed. This happens to me too. Seems a bit unpredictable. Sometimes it just saves the first one (even though a range is selected and the appropriate radio button checked); other times it saves the whole set as it should. This bug just started showing up about 6 to 8 weeks ago. Please get this fixed—it's annoying to not have this working properly.
