Transparency
When I select a line of type with the Type Tool it shows as 100% Normal Transparency, however if I select that same line of type with the Selection Tool it displays as Normal 100%. How is this possible?

Try this. Draw a purple box. Type the word "white" on top of it 2 times.
Use the Selection tool to select the 1st "white" and make the transparency 80% in the Transparency Tab. Now use the type tool to select the 2nd "white" word and make it 80% in the Transparency tab.
Now switch back to the Selection tool and select the 2nd "white" word and look at what the transparency reads. It does not display 80%, it displays 100%.
Select the 1st "white" word with the Type tool and it doesn't display 80%, it displays 100%. -
Sorry, I don't get it.
100% Normal if glyphs are selected and same 100% when the line is selected?
What bothers you then?
And if this is just a typo, note that glyphs can have their own transparency set, like any other group in Ai: like if you group two semitransparent things, the group itself will have 100% opacity.
