Clicking an object force drags it wherever my mouse goes
Anytime I click on an object in Illustrator 25.2 it "sticks" to my cursor. If i'm using my mouse (a Logitech MX Master), it sticks for about 1 second, and drops the object wherever my cursor is positioned. If I use my Macbook's trackpad, it stays stuck until I click again.
This has made Illustrator completely unusable in every way, and I rely on it for my career. I have no idea what to do, please help me!

Work took my MacBook and replaced it with a Lenovo PC with BenQ monitor. I am experiencing the exact "stick to my cursor" behavior on latest Ai and it is driving me nuts. I spend at least 25% of my design time undoing what this sticky mouse thing is doing.

I cannot move or select anything without one object sticking to my mouse ----- like I said one object. I'm using a mouse on a Macbook.

I’m seeing a single object getting stuck to the cursor, not 'everything' as you claimed... perhaps you meant 'each' object.
Judging by the sound of clicks. you are using a MacBook of sorts, correct? Does it mean you are using touchpad?
Do you have a chance to test this with a mouse connected? -

Here is the example.
Whenever I select an object in this case the image it sticks to my mouse and when I try to click it again it bounces off to the original place, it happens with other layer as well. You could hear the sounds.

Barrie or Maria, would you please share a recording of the problem?
Do these objects get selected after they get moved?
Does it affect only on current artboard or others as well?
Can you reproduce it in a new document? -

Is anyone experiencing lag issues with Illustrator in July 2024? I'm having trouble moving or selecting objects; one object sticks to my mouse and moves everything on the artboard. This happens every single time I select an object. Please fix it!

I found out where the problem was coming from for me. I disabled the "Display Pilot 2" of my new monitor (BenQ PD2725U) and now my selection tool works normally (it even resolves an Indesign issue which slightly moving an object when it was selected). Hope it helps someone else.

I changed my computer and installed the latest version of illustrator at the same time. The problem came at the first use. I don't have this problem with the old version 27.8.1 on the old Mac OS (high Sierra). I've just reinstalled the version 27.8.1 on the new computer (without keeping the preferences) and I have the same sticky selection problem...
I'm totally losted -
When did it start to behave like this? Was it working OK in a previous version of Ai? What about the previous OS version?

When I click on an object with the selection tool or direct selection tool, the object sticks to the mouse as if I were moving it or drag it.
I hope the video bellow clearly shows the issue. You can hear the clics
I can't use Illustrator anymore :(
Mac book pro M3 14'
OS Sonoma 14.1.1
Illustrator 2024 28.0
I've reinstalled Ai, deleted the preferences, restarted my computer...
Thank you
