Aligning a group of objects to an artboard
A bug in Align to Artboard. If I align a group of objects to Horizontal Align Center (to artboard), it's okay. But if the next click is Vertical Align Center (to artboard), all the objects of the group are aligned, not the group, but the seperate objects.
A workaround is to click somewhere else, and then click the Vertical Align Center. But it looks like a bug to me.

I sent it to Adobe. Let's see what their reaction is.

Nice illustrations! ...and a nasty bug. I believe I had something similar once, but was not able to isolate the thing.
Having this file and proofs on hands will help to fix it finally!
I won’t ask you to share the document here, but please send it to sharewithai@adobe.com for the team to test it and see what is happening exactly. Please provide clear steps and a small video recording if you are able to record one. -

Thanks for looking into this. I'm working on MacOS 11.4, and Illustrator 25.3.1. The problem does not happen with every project, and I can't reproduce it with a new project. But I added some screenshots.
Screen 1.
On the left you see 8 drawings I made. I made more in this series, but with these 8 drawings, and only these 8, the problem happens. On the right you see the artboard.Screen 2.
I select the top left drawing, and I click in the Align Window on Horizontal Align Center, while Align to Artboard is selected.Screen 3.
Next click is on Vertical Align Center. The objects IN the group align.Other screens show the same with different drawings.

Can’t reproduce on 25.3.1 Win. What OS are you on?
Does it happen for any project, any artboard?
What does the Align To in the Align panel show when you make the first alignment?
