Area Type text stretching when transformed with another shape
When I transform an Area Type text box using the handles, it resizes the Area and the type fits according to paragraph settings - which is what I want from Area Type - (first part of video).
But if I transform at the same time as another shape, selecting both at the same time - the type resizes like point type, stretching and scaling with the box, which is not how area type should behave - (second part of video).
So I can't transform an Area Type text box at the same time, for instance, as a holding shape that I want to align it with - I have to do them seperately whihc is very sslow and inefficient.
As a graphic designer I literally NEVER want to stretch type in this manner, and If I did i would choose point type for this reason - (last part of video shows this box is indeed Area Type).
Thanks

Oh yeah, this is a known issue for me, because it is even more prominent for me, because I don’t use bounding box which gives these handy/obscuring resize controls. To scale a an area type object, I have to click it's frame with the group selection tool. Only when the container is selected, I can scale just it with the Free Transform tool (I prefer a dedicated tool, despite some inconveniences it has).
While I completely agree the issue must be fixed (and vote for it), I can offer that workaround for you — select the frame with direct/group selection when you make a selection that has something else.
