File adding images unnecassarily in file
When i reopen a file, illustrator has duplicated and randomly placed (and sized) images from within the file or even doubled the link that was in place. It adds an additional image for each link in the file and also asks them to be relinked! Very frustrating having to look through and clean up the file.

Tough to say... it looks both like a mess but also can be a desired layout — I know nothing about the intended design.
So yeah, the most reasonable way to handle this would be to record the bug on video, make sure you have reproducible steps (I hope there are!), package the project and share it with the team via that email I shared before — these files never get published anywhere and stay within the team.

It happens fairly frequently, on different files. Here are some images that show what it looks like when opened (lots of the images on top of one another), and another wireframe showing me spacing them out so you can see how many randomly appear.

Simon, you can share those privately with the team. Send them over to sharewithai@adobe.com, provide the exact steps to replicate the issue (if possible). Please also put the link to this report so they can track it: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/46526752
I personally recall at least one more case of someone having the similar problem, but I failed to find it here on UV. Must be rare enough. -

Unfortunately I cannot show any examples as it all has confidential work that cannot be displayed in a public forum.

Wow, this sounds broken :/
Does it happen with that one specific file, or with any other file with linked images? Were there any file operations with the documents and its links, like move or copy?
Can you replicate it? share a screenshot or a video? Tough to start investigating without any evidence.
