Horizontal Scroll **** + mouse wheel
On mac OS, Illustrator version 27.8
Scrolling horizontally using SHIFT key + mouse wheel, is broken, and appears to be an obvious mathematical error.
Expected behaviour is for the view to scroll left or right.
Actual behaviour is that is works at some zoom levels, say 300% or 400%, but at higher zoom levels it barely scrolls a few pixels, and at 100% or less, it scrolls the entire page or worse for the smallest increment of the mouse wheel.
It seems clear that the zoom amount has been factored into the scroll amount inversely by accident.
This is a rudimentary feature of the UI, and important. Also a seemingly quick one to find and correct.
Am I right?

Egor. I'll attach some screen shots.
I set mac OS > system preferences > mouse > scrolling speed to maximum
At 100%, 1 detent in the mouse wheel moves a few pixels. At %25 it's noticably faster. At 3200 or higher it doesn't move at all, but will scroll if I run my finger across it.
Combining the CMD + mouse wheel at normal zooms is usable. The SHIFT + mouse wheel is mostly unusable. At high zooms only the SHIFT + mouse wheel is usable.
I wouldn't say it's extreme or a huge issue now but it's clearly not what it could be and the cause seems obvious
Many thanks

Dan, I can see the difference between zoom levels, yes, although I can’t say it’s extreme. Perhaps it is different on your machine?
Can you please measure the distance Ai scrolls the viewport at 100% and at something large, like 32000%. in screen pixels, after making one step of the wheel scroll? Or you can just provide screenshots, before and after, for both zoom levels. -

Ok thanks I was not aware of the CMD scroll, which is more usable altho the same problem still occurs for both the SHIFT and CMD mouse wheel scrolls.
If you are zoomed out, it scrolls unusably fast, and if you are zoomed in close, it barely zooms a few pixels. Zoom factor is either not factored in or is factored inverse to how it should be. So it seems. Maybe I'm tripping, but his is my experience using it.
Worth a look at least, I think

Dan, scrolling horizontally using a mouse wheel requires you to hold Cmd/Ctrl. Shift can be used to make Ai scrolling faster.
Do you hold Cmd/Ctrl, or are you trying to hold Shift only, as the text of the report implies?I am testing scrolling with a wheel, and I don’t notice anything strange on my Windows machine, at any zoom level, including extra large.
Can you please make a short video demonstrating the issue?
Please also provide you full OS specs.
