Animated zoom bug (workspace flickers and turns black when in a group)

  1. Windows 11 (latest)
  2. Illustrator 28.3
  3. The screen flickers and turns black using Animated Zoom within a group. If I exit the group (using escape), the screen returns to normal. Animated Zoom works normally as long as I am not within a group.

The video I've uploaded shows me double-clicking a group to enter it, then using Animated Zoom to produce the flickering and black screen. I hit escape to exit the group, and the screen returns to normal. I then demonstrate that Animated Zoom works correctly when not within the group.

    Hi all! Good news. It looks like Adobe has fixed this bug in version 28.5.

    Sergey, Thanks for doing the research and testing on this. I really hope that this will be fixed soon. Pinpointing the version number where the bug was introduced should aid Adobe in addressing this. I will definitely be going back to 28.2.

    Update: This bug affects versions 28.4.1-28.3, in version 28.2 this bug is not present, animated zoom works as it should.

    Turns out flickering can appear in an empty new file, all you have to do is turn on the grid. I recorded a video demonstrating this bug. I hope the team will pay attention to this message and fix this bug in the next release. Thank you.

    Added: the same thing happens if you just turn on the outline view. ((

    I have the same thing. Animated zoom inside groups or clipping masks causes flickering.

    I think a couple of months ago. Maybe in the middle or in the end of February.
    I just thought that I have this bug because of Astute Graphics plugins I use, but looks like it's not the case.

    Nvidia RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (Driver 551.61)
    Illustrator 28.3
    4K Dell U3223QE using Display Port to USB-C cabel
