Menu selection of window stuck after clicking on "Font" without selecting further option
After selecting the menu item "window" → "Font" (without the sub-menu) the menu freezes. No further access to the program possible. After ending the program (OS - option, not program option) the window with the document disappeared (without asking for saving), the menu remained on screen (see screenshot). Only forced ending worked.

Thanks Egor,
I have also nearly 900 fonts (not my choice, many of them are by system). Next time I will follow your suggestion (I avoided repeating the access as before, so far no other problems) -
When this submenu is focused (the first time after launch), Illustrator builds the list of the currently installed fonts, converting it into the menu structure (since menus are handled by OS). This is not an effective process, since menus are not designed to hold this many items... for me it takes 17 seconds, and I have ~900 fonts. How much do you have installed?
Ai has a dedicated dropdown menu in Character panel and other places that handles huge lists better... but I get the problem is about accessing the top menu, its other items... I learnt to not focus it through years :) I understand this is a workaround, but I really have no idea if Ai team can cheat the OS.

I have a page of paragraph text and select a top heading to change the font, right click to click on recent fonts window, to select one... but god help you if you accidentally mouse over fonts instead, the beach ball of death. Not sure but it takes literally 3 minutes to finally load, and I am unable to hit esc to try and exit out, it goes until it loads, waiting and waiting and waiting... so not sure if its my system or how many fonts I have loaded, speed ???? Im trying to only select recent fonts, by accident hit font... Anyway its super frustrating waiting, but more than likely its amount of fonts and numerous things, but wondered if there was any way to be able to hit esc and have it just stop thinking maybe?? that would be awesome.
Its initial load time and notice that once it does finally load, they come up almost instantly after that
