Cannot use Alt with Eyedropper to apply sampled style to other sections of text
Cannot use Alt with Eyedropper to apply sampled appearance to other objects
Mac OS High Serra 10.13.3
Illustrator CC 2018 (22.1)
I used to (in CS6) be able to copy a text style by using the Eyedropper once and then holding Alt to apply it to other sections (the Eyedropper icon would be mirrored left-right when holding Alt).
Now if I hold Alt, I'm getting the hand (pan) tool.
How can I get the "apply style" tool instead please?
NB: it still works with objects (background of text area in the example video), but not with text anymore.

I find same problem on Mac [Tahoe 26.5.2] using illustrator 30.7.
when using the eye dropper combined with holding down option key.all I'm trying to do is apply the same font from a source text to destination text.

Alex, what happens if you disable both Appearance options in the Eyedropper Options dialog?
I yet to test this in older builds, but here’s how it looks when I try.
Since the look of characters (fill and stroke, colors) is applied to characters themselves, not the type object as a whole, with these options checked the tool applies the parent’s appearance (no fill and no stroke), to all the children of the object clicked... it looks rather odd, agree, Appearance is a tough beast. I should test it more. -

Windows 10 Pro 22H2 19045.6456
Illustrator 30.4 (64-bit)When text object 1 is selected, using the Eyedropper tool and holding Alt to left click onto text object 2 (to apply the font style color paragraph style etc.), doesn't apply the stylings of text object 1 at all.
It does 1 of 2 things I found:
1) it's applying the text stylings of whatever current text settings are visible from the Character panel plus it will also apply no fill/stroke color to the text.
2) it will literally do nothing and no change happens, no matter how much you spam alt left click onto text object 2.I've opened new .ai files to test and it keeps happening.
Yes I've checked eyedropper settings and all the boxes are enabled.

I had the same problem. After you use your eyedropper tool to apply the text style you like, switch to selection tool and click anywhere outside of the artboard, so you don't have any selection. After that go back to the eyedropper + alt and go over the desired word / sections of your text. It should work. :)
