Blend easing not working properly on overlapping shapes
Whenever I create a blend with overlapping shapes, the easing does not work. The slider is active, but moving it does nothing. Easing does work when I create a blend without overlapping. And while I can start the blend without overlap and then move the smaller shape over the larger shape, the easing warps the lines instead of adjusting spacing.

Exactly. When blended objects overlap like this, Ai skips the spine creation. There are 4 cases when Ai drops this, discovered by users, explained in this great video by Monika Gausse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpREi93sZeU
To quote her, these are:
1. If there are at least three paths selected, and at least one of them is an open, unstroked, unfilled path, and at least two of them are not, then the open unpainted path is used as an initial spine and the other objects are moved onto it.
2. If the bounding box of the anchor points of each object encloses the bounding box of the anchor points of all the objects above it in the stacking order, then no spine path is created. (This is the ‘nested objects’ case.)
3. If the intersection of the bounding boxes of the anchor points of all the objects contains the center points of all the objects. (This is the ‘nearly concentric objects’ case.)
4. If all of the objects are open paths. At the moment Ai offers no options to control the spine creation forcefully, or restore (and actually properly delete) a spine.
And it looks like a spine currently is required to allow easing — something that shouldn’t be.Thanks for the report, I notified the team about this.
