Illustrator 30.6 freezes indefinitely while editing AI files with embedded PNG images
Since updating to Illustrator 30.6, Illustrator randomly freezes while editing AI documents.
The freeze is not a normal slowdown. The application becomes completely unresponsive and can remain frozen for several minutes or even indefinitely.
I have already tested:
Reinstalled Illustrator.
Tested multiple NVIDIA driver versions.
GPU Performance enabled and disabled.
System Compatibility Report shows No conflicts.
Illustrator correctly detects the RTX 4060 GPU.
The AI files are not unusually large.
Removing one placed PNG/PSD image sometimes eliminates the freeze, even though the image size is normal (around 1500–2000 px).
CPU and GPU usage remain very low while Illustrator is frozen.
I can provide the AI document, source images, System Info and System Compatibility Report if needed.
Operating System: Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26200)
Illustrator Version: 30.6
Hardware:
AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU
16 GB RAM
