Please post a screen recording of this issue. In Illustrator 2024 Auto-resize is disabled when alignment is "Center", "Bottom" or "Justify", and Auto-resize works fine when alignment is set to "Top". I see the same behavior in Illustrator 2025 as well.

Can confirm unexpected behaviour.
When using Area Type with auto-resize enabled, changing the vertical alignment affects the text box incorrectly:
1. Top Alignment (Expected & Working):
• The text box expands and contracts vertically downward as expected.
2. Center Alignment (Buggy Behavior):
• The text box should expand equally upwards and downwards, but instead, auto-resize is completely disabled, and the option disappears.
3. Bottom Alignment (Buggy Behavior):
• The text box should expand upwards, but auto-resize is completely disabled, behaving as if “Justify” alignment was set.Additionally, when switching Area Type Alignment:
• Changing from Top → Center or Bottom makes the auto-resize option disappear.
• Changing back to Top does not restore auto-resize, requiring manual reconfiguration.Expected Behavior
• Center alignment: The text box should expand equally upwards and downwards, without disabling auto-resize.
• Bottom alignment: The text box should expand only upwards, without disabling auto-resize.
• Switching alignment settings should not remove the auto-resize option.Steps to Reproduce
1. Create a text box with Area Type.
2. Enable auto-resize.
3. Set vertical alignment to “Top” → Auto-resize works as expected.
4. Change vertical alignment to “Center” or “Bottom” → The text box loses auto-resize functionality, and the option disappears.
5. Switch back to “Top” alignment → Auto-resize does not return, requiring manual intervention.Environment
• App version: 29.3
• OS: macOS 15.3.1 (24D70)This issue affects text box usability, making it difficult to maintain dynamic text layouts when adjusting alignment.

The latest Beta 29.5 52 now remembers these options in the Export As dialog and keeps it between sessions. Please try to test it to see if it works as expected for you and comment back.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Issue still persists in Illustrator 2025 (29.3).
Control bar has proper wording (Area Type: Align Top, Align Bottom, Align Centre, Vertically Justify).
But Area Type Options dialog still uses incorrect Align > Horizontal wording
