Please confirm if this bug does not longer happens in the latest versions of Illustrator.
An error occurred while saving the comment C commented@Egor, I apologize. I realize that since 2018 the problem has inverted, and since I spend so much time frustrated with this application, I was inaccurate in this response. You're correct that in my experience with the 2023/2024 versions of Illustrator the current artboard is generally given a slightly heavier stroke, like the original behavior. The current problem is that the active/selected artboard is almost never highlighted in the Artboard panel. So functionally you still don't know which one you're working on.
An error occurred while saving the comment C commentedI'm currently running OS 12.7.3 and AI 28.2, and the issue is not fixed. I ran Ventura for a while with AI 2023, and the problem persisted there, if that makes a difference.

It is now obvious the issue was not fixed fully. The developers are aware of it now. Let’s hope it will be fixed soon enough.
If you have a solid order of steps which reproduce this behavior, share them in comments, because only some machines are affected. Please help the team to isolate it.
An error occurred while saving the comment C commented28.2, Mac. I have been reporting and voting for descriptions of this issue for almost every version for AT LEAST 10 years, and it persists. Different computers, different operating systems, different user accounts -- forever the same unaddressed problem. I disagree with the OP that it's a minor inconvenience.
(thanks to @Mr Label Co an actual workaround)

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.2.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Illustrator 27.1.1JAN 23: still an issue. Align to Glyph only works if you are dragging an individual selection relative to another. If you select multiple text items and use any Align tool, the same wrong results. The Align tools ignore the Align to Glyph settings.

@Rama -- the feature now finally exists, but it opens a folder and does not highlight the selected file. My source folders have hundreds of files in them. The feature is nonfunctional without revealing the specific file requested.
**edit: and if I have to copy and paste the linked filename to find it using Finder, why is there not a means of easily copying the filename from the Links panel?
