And when pasted from an RGB document into a CMYK Document, the same Grayscale percentages display lighter. See second attachment.

The "In a CMYK document embedded greyscale images become darker" problem seems solved in the 2025 version, but can be repeated in 2024.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented
Looks like the greyscale image when embedded is converted to RGB in the PDF.

Because a bug has only 2 votes, it should not be ignored. 2024 still the same problem.

Hello all,
The 'Apply to all' checkbox has been brought back in the Replace missing link dialogue.
'Apply to all' checkbox was removed when we introduced the 'Auto-relink' (search for missing links in this folder) functionality, as we though 'auto-relink' is going to take care of the 'replace all' workflow as well. But it didn't work as expected in few cases as pointed out by some of you.
Hence, with the latest release V29.2 (full roll out happens on Jan 9), we have decided to revert to the earlier experience whereby we are bringing back 'apply to all' checkbox and rolling back the 'auto-relink functionality.
Because of conflicts, both of these functionality cannot co-exist unless we make some significant changes to the relinking experience.
As we understand, 'replace all' was a important workflow for most of you, so we decided to quickly bring it back while working on the overall…

Josh, I know, but it is back now.

If the linked files are missing because the original folder has been renamed or moved, and the links are in the same folder, it works when you click Replace and select a missing file in the new location. All files are found. If the missing links are in different folders, you need to repeat the locating.
The other scenario; replace multiple copies of the same missing image with a different image works fine if you check the Apply to All checkbox that appears when opening the file, click Replace and point to whatever file you want.
This is how it works on my Mac.
But I prefer the InDesign way; controlling and replacing links from the Links panel. An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented
Josh, I don't think so, but you can install an older version of Illustrator: 2023 (28.4.1), a version that still has the Apply to All option:
In the Creative Cloud app select Apps > All Apps > Illustrator > click the 3 dots … next to the Open button > click Other Versions and select 28.4.1. Click Install. An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented

In the meantime I recommend installing 28.4.1 next to the current version. 28.4.1 still has the Apply to All option that let you replace all instances of a missing link by a different one.

Maybe this script will help untill it is solved.
When opening a file, click Ignore All
In the links panel, select the missing links to be replaced.
Click the Go to link button to select them on the artboard.
Download and run this script: https://shared-assets.adobe.com/link/476cf98b-768b-409f-6526-d6353e453ad8An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented
GONE (IN BETA) 29.1.40

But unfortunately not in the current 28.7 shipping version.

Looks fine to me.

I am sure the fix will be appreciated.

Yes, but it has changed a couple of times, but yes, I just tested 27.0 (AI 2023) and that found missing links in the same folder.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented
Stéphanie, that is probably because it is unchecked by default.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented
Stéphanie, that is a different problem, which version do you have? Relative links are a new feature in 28.5.

Here is how it worked before the update. If Illustrator cannot find a file and you want to replace it by some other file, check Apply to All, locate the new file and click Replace.

Good to hear that it works in 29.2. The update details should be available when the worldwide update rollout is complete, which should be anytime now.

I remember complaining about it in 2011 at the prerelease site (can't find it anymore). But there are many fills with an offset path effect that expand in the Appearance panel after saving this file.

Mateus, it will convert it to whatever RGB profile is set as the RGB Working Profile in your Color Settings. If that is sRGB, it will be used. If that is Wide Gamut RGB, that will be used.
Because the profile is not embedded in the .png file, Photoshop will assume that whatever is in its Color Settings is the profile for the .png, which can be right or wrong. An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented

It is a possible workaround. On Mac, opening in Preview can assign a profile too. But this should not be necessary if Illustrator just behaved like a good color managed application and read and save a profile in the png. Should not be too difficult after more than 4 years.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented
Actually, Illustrator uses the current RGB profile to calculate the exported colors, but does not save the ICC profile with the image.
When opening or placing a PNG file Illustrator ignores the profile even if it is available.
Edit: currently (2024) Illustrator does read embedded profiles...An error occurred while saving the comment Ton commented

It seems that Illustrator uses the RGB Working space profile for export to PNG, but does not embed that profile.

2025 trace is less accurate than 2024.
With the default settings 2024 has 4 anchor points to make it look like a circle while 2025 creates blobs with 2 anchor points.Ton supported this idea ·

This one looks related, but with embedded images:

Why does Illustrator store the path to the files in the metadata when the images are embedded and the path is no longer needed?Ton supported this idea ·

RGB Preview is not the same as Overprint Preview for Book (Lab) spot colors.
They may look more vivid, but not as vivid as in Overprint Preview mode. It depends on The document color profile how close RGB mode can simulate the Overprint Preview, wider gamuts come closer than sRGB. Besides the color preview accuracy, Overprint is not supported when exporting to an image format. There should be an option (like when printing to a color printer) to Simulate Overprint during export. -

Egor, I cannot remember when this started, but there are more problems with grayscale in Illustrator, although one mentioned in this report seems to be solved: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/41260390-embedded-grayscale-image-in-rgb-document-becomes-t
