    The Preview is fixed, but the anti-aliasing method is not sticky anymore. It stays on Type Optimized between exports.

    Starting with Beta 29.7.1 the Rearrange dialog got a separate dedicated feature, currently called 'Align Manually'.

    With it disabled, artboards get positioned instantly in the center of the canvas, as it behaved previously.

    When this is enabled, you will enter the positioning mode after pressing OK — to allow rearranging only some artboards, to address this request.

    With more than 1 artboard selected (but not all), the mode gets enabled automatically (and becomes locked).

    Unfortunately the 29.7 version does not always align the artboards to the pixelgrid. When after aligning the ruler origin is reset, the others do align too.

    The easiest way to align artboards to the pixelgrid (to avoid additional pixels on image export) was to use rearrange artboards, it automatically aligned them. Now it takes extra steps and even makes artboards that were perfectly aligned contain fractional x/y values.

    This artboard has a purpose.

    As mentioned here in comments and in several discussions (here or here), this artboard is needed when importing the file as a composition into After Effects.

    Quoting Ton Frederiks (thanks):

    With a single artboard, After Effects clips the content outside the artboard even when Retain Layer Sizes is selected.

    With the second large artboard, AE will show the contents of layers when Retain Layer Sizes is selected.

    Another way to solve it is to create a single large artboard that has the size of all the artwork.

    The large artboard is meant to help animation in After Effects and prevents clipping at the main artboard.

    A recent mention on the Illustrator forum.

    The guides are dependend on the 0/0 point. If the X0/Y0 point is not located at the upper left corner of the artboard, the guides (which are not really guides, just lines) ar way off.
    I recorded a movie with the 0/0 point ont the first artboard and the artwork on the last. The "guides" are off. When the 0/0 point is set to the last artboard with the artwork, the
    "guides" are correctly positioned.

    I would vote for round values for the peace of mind of the users. Calculate internally with the utmost precision, but give consistent values in all apps. Currently Photoshop, Acrobat and the Color Picker in Illustrator, give the rounded values.

    In the updated 29.6.1 there is now an option in Preferences to uncheck "Show 'Print Bleed' generative Al button on Bleed"

    This issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
    If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image.

    That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.

    At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

    Even artbords that were perfectly aligned will land on fractional pixel coordinates with the new 29.6 rearrange behaviour.

    The new rearrange artboards feature in 29.6 causes all artboards to be off the pixelgrid.
    You need to click to define the position and that it always off.
    In previous versions using rearrange artboards would fix artboards that were not aligned.
    Try this file in an older version and in the 29.6 version.

    Units should be points or pixels. The rulers need to be global rulers and the artboards x/y coordinates should be measured from a corner (upper left). Artboard Rulers can give the false impression of being aligned to the global pixel grid resulting in additional pixels.

    Export for screens work as expected, export as makes the pixel amount 10 X smaller.

    According to Abhishek Rao here, disabling 'Export in Background' in Preferences > File Handling helps to workaround the problem (until the actual fix). Make sure you enable 'Art Optimized (Supersampling)' as an anti-aliasing option in Export for Screens settings as well.

    In 28.6
    Slightly rotated an image
    Export for Screens > JPEG 100 Art Optimized.
    They are horribly jagged and the Art Optimized setting is ignored. Embedded as well as Linked.
