Not sure that infinite artboards solves anything; sounds risky from a project management and workflow perspective to chuck every thing in one Illustrator file, but a canvas at least twice the current size would be a significant. Thanks.

Got to be honest, what was the point of this feature? It doesn't help at all and creates more clutter by introducing yet another location fro changing properties. I think someone needs to step back and rethink this kind of addition. Definitely not an upgrade or a step forward.

All my work goes to print of all forms and I do understand your issue, but for me this new approach is much better. An option to change cures it for all, but users need to make minor adjustments to the way they work sometimes.

Surprised. Was overjoyed to find zoom to selection as it's so much more useful than a random zoom in and out to where you usually don't need to be. Spacebar still does what it always did. Some confusion here (and dated workflows), I think. As software evolves, evolve your workflow. Adapt. It's easy. Similar behaviour to InDesign, so that's good.

Not sure that requesting a feature to deal with clients who submit bad artwork is the solution. Educate the client. Most printers and repro houses I know would bounce such artwork back as it's a time waster. This seems more appropriate to Acrobat than Ai.

Second that. Centroids would be more useful than the bounding box centre point, or at least an option for showing it, in the attributes panel, for example.

Use the Inner Glow effect. Works the same.

This is done in one of the latest releases.
Now the button in Control panel (and in Links panel menu) says ‘Edit in Photoshop’. You also can change it back to system defaults in Preferences > File Handling section.InDesign has more options, that is true, so please comment back if you need a larger list — but please give a solid justification why :)

Yes, the whole process is a bit confused and should be easier than it is. You can save a template, but who knows how you retrieve it.

It's already there if you go via the 'Linked File' on the Control Bar, but there is logic in putting it in the panel as I have yet to come across anyone that uses Bridge.

Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.

Interesting, but CorelDRAW has never been a toy programme. It had bad press from those who didn't know how to use it. In fact it's near always had a wider and more useful feature set than Illustrator, and always much more interactive, implementing transparency and other features years ahead of Ai. In fact the CorelDRAW Technical Suite has been handling 3D for years. I cut my teeth on Corel for a long while, though an Illustrator user now, if somewhat frustrated by it at times. Sounds like you are using the wrong app.

Hi Everyone, This feature was shipped in Illustrator 2020 version. Please go to Preferences>Selection & Anchor Display > and check ‘Select and unlock objects on canvas’. Enabling this preference will display a lock icon when you select the locked object.

I don't see this as a problem with Illustrator, but with workflow and artwork practices. If you work in architecture engineering or mapping, as I do, you work mostly to a scale. Very little is output at 1:1. CAD is a different proposition and Illustrator is not CAD. It's not rocket science working to scale. Wanting a canvas 100m wide, or infinite, is not sensible to say the least. Rethink your workflow and what you are doing... even a different application. I wouldn't argue against a canvas twice the current limit, but this ongoing request is probably not that well supported in reality. I've never heard any Illustrator user in professional practice, apart from right here, raise the canvas size as a problem, so not convinced it's even an issue. Even companies outputting huge banners and wraps ask for scaled artwork as their gear isn't up to dealing with 1:1 artwork. If you are concerned over proofing, print extracts at the final scale; that's the traditional proofing process. The screen is never going to give you an exact representation of print output. Bigger canvas = bigger file size = stretching Ai beyond it's object handling abilities.
