An error occurred while saving the comment If you open Color panel, pick standard Eyedropper tool, click and hold and move over the different elements, the panel shows you the color, in real-time.. but not the values of a spot color, just the name of it. So yeah, should be more than this, and a hint near a cursor is handy indeed. Voted.

An error occurred while saving the comment Greatly support this. In fact Freeform Gradient IS a mesh. but a dynamically generated triangular one. Unfortunately Illustrator knows nothing about this valid PDF construct, that's why you get a 'non-native object' after expanding the fill. We definitely need it live and available for editing with a extended Mesh tool, including full API and scripting support. This is a huge effort though, so probably won't happen until this request gains several hundred votes.

If this happens for you, make sure you have the same color settings setup in both versions (Edit > Color Settings).
An error occurred while saving the comment Chad, can you check Color Settings (Edit > Color Settings) used in both Ai versions? Do they match?
I can’t reproduce that still, same as Lance :(
Must be machine specific. Do you mind having a staff member have a look at your machine directly? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Suchocki, do you, by any chance, have Use Preview Bounds enabled in Preferences General section?
It feels like Illustrator takes your object’s stroke into a consideration.
Please check it, try to disable it if it’s on, and reply back if it gets fixed for you. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Michael, if you go to Preferences > Type and set '0' for Number of Recent Fonts — does it 'fix' the issue for you?
The team had this functionality broken when they added Recent block and we need more voices to get it fixed back.

An error occurred while saving the comment Ruy, actually, this is intended. Live Paint and Shape Builder both make tiniest simplifications to the art, for the sake of the speed. If you watch the original paper about Live Paint — https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/1275808.1276415 — you’ll hear Paul voicing this out.
More of it, you can make a simple test to see Live Paint breaking the precision. Create a new document and choose millimeters as units (this is important). Create a simple rectangle that has integer dimensions and is placed perfectly on integer coordinates. Convert it to Live Paint object. Expand it. Check coordinates and dimensions.
This bug is less prominent for pixels and inches -based documents, because LivePaint rounds values to fractions of a point. But I vote because this drives me crazy. I believe that the algorithm can keep values and not ditch my data. Thank you for reporting it.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lisa, this is extremely odd and feels completely broken. Can you record a video of you trying to use it?

An error occurred while saving the comment James, can you package the project you have problems with via File > Package and email the archive to sharewithai@adobe.com, including the link to this report (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/44478717)?
The team will check if something specific breaks it. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Willem, did you save your files to the cloud or to the disk?
Ai should have gave you a choice, displaying a large dialog with two quite colorful images about that.
If cloud — please check https://assets.adobe.com — can you see your files there?
If disk — search your system for *.ai files and sort results by date. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Machiel, it feels like the mask is unlinked for one of your sub-objects.
But it can be something else for sure.
Can you share the file and record a short video that demonstrates the issue? Nothing can be done without a real case, because it behaves fine for me. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Corel Draw can store replacement pairs, as far as I know. Can be a nice solution.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gebhardt, this needs further explanations I’m afraid.
Can you show some examples of shapes and photos you want Ai to cut out for you? -

The problem was in a modified default Character / Paragraph Style. Please refer to comments for the details.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jean Carlos, did you change the default Character Style in the dedicated panel in all the document profile file as well? This is the only place that is responsible for this.
Search for them here: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 26 Settings\en_US\x64\New Document Profiles but change the username and the version accordingly.
Please comment back if it helps.
Indeed, confirm that.
