Disabling 'Paste Remembers Layers' in the Layers panel’s flyout menu solved the problem with pasting in place into a selected layer, therefore a specialized hotkey to the layer isolation is no longer required for the user.
If you still need this hotkey — please comment.

Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…
An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedAfaik, the only reason why M1 now works better for you in some cases, is just the fact that Adobe apps on Intel Macs were running on an emulator in the first place! So thanks Apple, they don't need that bottleneck anymore. Doesn't make the software any better...
Don't get fooled by any cherry-picked testing. Bad architecture stays bad no matter how nice they paint the walls. I really doubt there is any positive change in responsiveness while moving through a complex Ai file on an M1.
An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedI just smile and look back at Macromedia Freehand and then I look over to Adobe... What happened???
@GameArt I would love to see a "2D version of blender" just for vector graphics. The blender workflow is great and was thoroughly crafted to get fast results - it's basically the opposite of using Illustrator; where almost every repetitive operation hides behind an endless wall of context menus.
I also don't get the part where you can't calculate vectors in multiple threads?! Every 3D software is stuffed with vector maths. Blend2D supports it since last year - there you go, Adobe. What a lazy excuse.
I would like to use another program but still there is nothing that doesn't make me miss stuff from Ai. Affinity looks like some kids learning app, sorry Affinity. If anyone has spotted something that screams productivity AND is fast - please let us know!
An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedLast post in August. Now Intel's 8th generation CPUs with even more cores are out. There is so much competition right now to enhance computing power - cloud based rendering, CUDA and whatnot. And Adobe has... ANIMATED TOOL TIPS
And please, lovely people here, don't call professional software like PS, Ai or ID "apps", Adobe might think you talk about their mobile substitutes they wasted all our CC subscription money on.

Dear Users,
We have launched this feature in the latest release of Illustrator, 24.2. I request you to try out this feature and give us your feedback.
Thanks,
SanjitAn error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedI'm on 24.1.1 right now. What did they change actually?
Canvas size maxes out at 577 cm. So what's new about that???er1k supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedProfessional designers are used to scale their projects but since Adobe software gets more casual with every update they might consider an unlimited canvas. Seriously, I don't like the idea of having a virtual scale on my project and the zoom stays the same... think about it; it just "feels" completely weird. Affinity Designer really shows off in that category.

An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedDear Bren, unfortunately in the real world nobody uses PNG at these dimensions. Consider another - professional - format like TIFF for your images and you should be totally fine.

An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedI'm working on keyboard layouts right now, which demand alot of precision - the reason some might argue why I use Illustrator in the first place...
I draw a lot of text boxes so I can use them to mark down the whole space of the key cap. It's just more handy than just a text field where you have to manually align the text to the key cap. >>> Image for reference (text-box-field).
See the other two images (scale-textbox-...):
The one I scaled by hand, having the expected result: text doesn't change, only size of box changes, automatically aligns text in box.The other is scaled numeric with the UNEXPECTED result: text is scaled vertically, though text stays aligned properly.
InDesign should be your top reference concerning text. This software does so much right, I really cannot understand why Adobe isn't pulling more features from InDesign for their other softwares. Please give Illustrator this little extra professional vibe. It would be very much appreciated.

Hello everyone,
Lately we have been thinking about improving the snapping / smartguide experience on Illustrator and we need your help in this process.
Please spare us some time of yours where we can come together on a online meeting and discuss your needs and pain point around snapping.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Users have an option in Illustrator CC (22.1).
Preferences>Selection & Anchor Display>"Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard"
Please email us on sharewithai@adobe.com if it still does not solve your problem.er1k supported this idea · -

Illustrator allows option to Simulate Color Paper, whereby user can pick any color as the background. (This is accessible from File -> Document Setup)
Does this help solve the described concerns?

An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedThe more I get into the depths of this forum the more I realize how almost every Adobe power user has a problem with the way Adobe thinks we use their software. Maybe we should make this the number one task on this board: Adobe don't hide in your think tank - ask your customers!!!

Latest Beta Build 29.2.34 now adds Eyedropper in the Color Picker dialog to allow us pick colors from artwork.
Please try to test it and comment on if it works as you expect.
An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedYes! How can devs ignore something like that??? Right now I'm using Snipping Tool to do cropped screenshots of my work, pasting it to my Ai canvas so I can easily pick colors for my vectors. Ridiculous!
Another sign of who actually uses Adobe's software and who is just developing it blindfolded...

It is possible to do in Illustrator as well — not in Preferences, but in File > Document Setup dialog (Cmd/Ctrl + Alt +P) — because these settings are local for a document and not global. Same exact controls.
An error occurred while saving the comment er1k commentedI don't think it would be just nice. It's about f'in time for an option like that! That's another feature where Adobe just loses hard to competitors - whom they still are not afraid of, I suppose. Otherwise nobody would need to post a request like that.
For every artist the grid in the background is totally useless and in the front it's just a big annoying distraction when you just want to see the edge of your shapes. Not even the default shortcut works in german Ai so you have to make a new one to be able to switch it on and off constantly!
Please give us a transparency control for the grid, yesterday.

That is not the first time I get annoyed from Illustrator and search relief in the uservoice.
But it's certainly the first time that I read there is a patch waiting for me in CC that fixes my current problem.
Well played, Adobe... Keep it up. ;)
