Why on earth Illustrator still doesn't allow for Mac users to customize or use the TouchBar is mind boggling. It works on Photoshop, so why not Illustrator?

It's as if the people at Adobe don't even use their own products. If they did they'd realize long ago that this doesn't work and needs addressing. The same goes with a multitude of other bugs and oddities that I demonstrated to 2 different Adobe reps on two separate occasions. Each rep confirmed that I was performing the tasks properly and agreed that the mentioned problems were in fact legit.

Yet 2 years later (since my first presenting these issues to an Adobe rep via an hour long chat) not one has been addressed as promised. And on top of that the entire file that rep had supposedly created was nowhere to be found when I reached back out over a year ago. That is when I had a second hour+ screen-share conversation with another Adobe rep. Once again I provided very detailed accounts of each issue I was experiencing, along with my work files and a video capture of each oddity I encountered (all labeled and organized).

That second meeting was well before the pandemic, so we're talking a year and a half. Yet once again I was told by the rep that they would be forwarding all of my documentation and files to the development team. Though I'm still waiting and have not received any follow up notices on the status of things as I was promised.

The customer service at Adobe is probably the worst I have ever experienced. Not only is the inability to perform such basic functions drastically effecting my workflow, I'm stuck in the Adobe ecosystem because they have a monopoly on full fledged design software, and there's no way for me to edit my Adobe specific native work files (psd, ai, etc) from any other app.

Yes, I understand that there's a waiting list for bug fixes, but as I mentioned it has been over 2 years and I was told on each occasion speaking to a rep that the issues I reported were serious enough to be fast tracked by development. The fact that my Pantone uncoated library still doesn't display properly (many colored swatches convert to Pantone Neutral black). There was also some alignment issues that continue to occur despite every trick and setting in the book.

And the worst annoyance is the inability to produce a non blurry raster jpg or png file without going crazy with resolution and file size (which is not an option for web use). Whenever designers bring this up in the forums, the Adobe reps always resort to "you can't expect a raster web image to look as good as a vector". This is a complete cop-out, because I've demonstrated multiple times that a basic screenshot on my Mac produces perfectly acceptable raster previews of my vector logos. It's one thing to have slight blur on higher definition screens, however when graphics become a pixelated mess to the point where the text and details become unrecognizable at typical web logo sizings (roughly 1" wide).

If I can achieve a sharp looking image via a screenshot taken of a vector logo file, why on earth can't I from the worlds most advanced design software? I'm surprised there isn't more uproar about this from other designers honestly. I can't be the only one experiencing this. I ask that if you own a Macbook, take a screenshot of a vector logo file and compare the results to a saved or exported logo preview of similar size. Please let me know your findings.

It's insane that I must continue using this screenshot method to achieve a usable web preview. This is obviously not a viable solution however, since I can't achieve background transparency, proper alignment, control of file size, etc. My intent is not to just gripe for the sake of complaining. This is my livelihood and as a paying customer who's wasted countless hours of my life dealing with these headaches, I'd expect that after years of this nonsense someone at Adobe would actually do their job and help their customers rather than the typical condescending replies.

It says rotate canvas has been added to backlog and will be picked up shortly. That was nearly 3 years ago. Same old story with Adobe. I've been waiting for ever for other promises by Adobe that they'd be addressing the blurry raster images, the not having to disable gpu processing to enable cmdH hide selection box, to fix smart guides so they actually work as intended, to fix the cmyk to pantone uncoated conversions. Nothing ever is addressed. It's pretty sad when I'm able to achieve a crisp logo graphic by taking a screenshot of a vector logo, yet exporting a raster jpg or png from Adobe software looks like complete garbage and very blurry. Unfortunately screenshots aren't a viable alternative since you can't achieve background transparency, centering and desired file size.

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting this bug Illustrator Team really appreciate this.
We are able to reproduce this issue in house and we are investigating it .

How are you "unable to reproduce this issue in house"? The reason you're not seeing the problem is because you have GPU processing disabled in your preferences settings or you didn't even try to investigate this. This is a feature Adobe decided to get rid of for no reasonable reason. And if you were really "investigating" this as you say, why has nothing been done about it a year later?

I've been experiencing numerous issues with Illustrator. Smart guides problems, inability to export a non blurry jpg or png logo, no Touch Bar settings or configuration available for Illustrator on MacBooks, stroked paths converting to jagged lines when outlined, phantom fills appearing in certain zoom views, etc.

Disabling GPU processing is not a viable solution. Disabling GPU processing causes other problems and is required. It would be nice if Adobe actually listened to it's customers and fixed problems rather than treating us issues as user error.

Cmd + H for years allowed users to hide the selected text box (without having to disable GPU processing). Why did they change this?! Not being able to hide this prevents us from being able to cycle fonts and see a true preview of what a font will look like in a design. Having text inverted to white with a black rectangle around it obviously doesn't allow for an accurate preview. Having to unselect and reselect after each font change is incredibly time wasting.

I hate ranting, but when paying customers waste dozens of hours dealing with these blatant oversights and bugs, is it really a surprise everyone complains about Adobe? Listen to your customers, and fix problems. It's not rocket science.

You're "investigating this". I call BS. I've been hearing that for years by Adobe reps. There is no reason this feature should not be available without turning off GPU performance. Adobe reps can't seem to understand that turning off GPU Performance is not an adequate solution. Turning that off slows the program down, but also reduces many abilities, such as the ability to zoom in very far. This is beyond ridiculous. Just like the issues with smart guides not working as they should, Adobe has ignored these problems for years now. More promises, and nothing changes. Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!

Agreed. Just one of many oversights and stupidities with Adobe apps.

It’s dangerous to call things Smart... When they behave dumb, the name sound like an insult. Sadly, this is the case.

Please provide more specific cases, with video proofs, ask you colleagues to share and vote, to move this further. This is the way to force changes to things that are broken — be vocal and persistent. Thank you all and let’s hope we get heard.

*********. The problem still exists. Why is it so difficult for Adobe to fix these existing problems that last for years on end? I have a list of 20+ bugs with Illustrator alone. It's beyond ridiculous. I can't wait for an alternative to Adobe and I can finally be done with this joke of a company. Unfortunately it's going to be awhile since apparently when you own a monopoly, customer service and product quality takes a back seat to stock holders. And no I'm not being extreme. As a longterm paying customer, this is incredibly frustrating. FIX YOUR SOFTWARE ADOBE!!!

As mentioned in comments, arrowheads are strangely the part of Appearance and not the basic stroke, and to get it copied you should tick 'Appearance' in Eyedropper tool settings (hit Enter when the tool is chosen). Then everything works. Please comment back if it does not for you.

Heck, there isn't even an option to copy and paste text while maintaining formatting in Illustrator. Despite hundreds of upvotes in other feature request threads. This is one of many features that needs to be added to Illustrator. It's beyond me that this is still not available.

Another option should be to apply the styling of one paragraph to other paragraphs. I have a dozen paragraphs of text on a label design. The client requested a few styling changes. Having to manually update each paragraph is a huge time waster.

Why not simply offer a "paste and match style" option as well as a "apply paragraph styling to all paragraphs" option? Simple. Yet I'm not holding my breath since Adobe never listens to it's customers or fixes blatant bugs. I guess when you have a monopoly in the professional design industry, customer satisfaction no longer matters.
