Snapping is fundamentally broken in Illustrator. I see this behaviour with every second 'snap' action.

Hi Everyone, thanks for your comments. Re-opening it based on the feedback.

The snapping in Illustrator is just generally bad. I always have to go through every single artboard and fix up the edges, even if Illustrator is telling me that my objects are snapping to the edge.

51 votes51 comments · Illustrator (Desktop) Bugs » File Save, Import and Export · Flag idea as inappropriate… · Admin →This issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image. That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.
At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

Might I suggest a temporary alert to the user, so that we don't submit final files with the wrong dimensions to suppliers and clients?
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Making X and Y values whole numbers doesn't work for me. I still regularly get extra pixels (screenshot attached). There's no reason in my case why Illustrator should be adding that extra pixel.

Illustrator frequently exports artboards with extra pixels.
I always ensure the artboards are positioned on whole pixel values (check the screenshot), yet this doesn't seem to help.
Note that this happens when you use the Export For Screens option, but not if you use the Legacy save for web.

This has been under review for four years?
In InDesign, I can locate a link in 5 seconds.
In Illustrator, I have to wait for Bridge to load which isn't quick.Anonymous supported this idea ·

YES. Nobody dealing with vectors is using Bridge. Bridge is incapable of previewing white graphics and logos as you can't change the preview background (so you can't see your vector artwork...), so in my mind this is a useless feature.

Here's a new video showing that, as I suspected and mentioned, it is not Hide Edges. It's a bug.

I don't think this was the issue. Restarting the computer and Illustrator fixed the problem.
Also toggling Show/Hide Edges doesn't replicate this issue for me.Anonymous shared this idea ·

I also find that CMD + C often doesn't work and when I go to paste, it pastes an old object.
The solution I've found which I learnt from colleagues who experience the same issue in Illustrator and After Effects is to mash CMD + C multiple times before pasting.

About once a day I'll run into an issue whereby I'll select an object or group, and a random object on another artboard will be selected at the same time. This random object isn't part of the other group, and doesn't actually show up as being selected however the bounding box shows that something else is being selected.
Moving or rescaling the objects that I actually intended to select doesn't effect anything else, however it's a pain having to locate the bounding box.
This usually coincides with Illustrator being bogged down with massive amounts of lag, and is all fixed when restarting Illustrator (including the lag).
Am having this issue on multiple Mac OSX computers.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.2.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!
