1. No ability to add Hex code in Swatch colours

   I don't understand why this has not yet been implemented in the 30 years Illustrator is active. What could've taken me 2 minutes to do, took me 10 minutes, and had to go the long way around of opening Colour Options, try to memorise the RGB values, and then go back into Swatch Options, and then add in the values.

   Please can you add the Hex Code field in the Swatch Colour options, so that we can just paste the code to get the RGB values? And also let those updated swatches automatically update the gradients that are applied to objects.

   The HEX field is now displayed in the New Swatch dialog (no matter which Color Mode is chosen there), so it’s possible to enter the code immediately.

2. SVG Timeline Animation

   Svg kann animiert werden. Warum muss ich dazu zu svgator oder snap greifen? Ist direkt weder in illustrator, Animate noch After Effects möglich.

3. Unlimited artboards for storyboarding to scale

   Storyboarding at 1920x1080 and I can only get 48 artboards. My computer can easily handle more. Why the limit - more please.

   If you need to have a larger canvas, you can force Illustrator to enable the 'large canvas mode' by entering the size larger than 227 in (or 16383 px). Ai will warn you the scaling mode gets enabled. Commit and change the size of your artboard to 1920×1080. Done, you now have a larger canvas (actually it means it’s scaled internally and you loose one fractional space, but for storyboarding it’s just fine).

4. RAL Swatch Library

   RAL Swatch library. We don’t need this for print or screen, but it is necessary to mark a plastic or metal with RAL colour when documentation is sent to manufacturing. Do something about it.

5. Previous/Next Artboard hotkeys should be able to keep zoom

   Right now Ai also does 'Fit Artboard in Window' when any of artboard navigation hotkeys are used. I’d like also be able to keep zoom level when navigating artboards.

6. Prevent astronomic file size when using multiple copies of the same embedded image

   Allow copies of the same embedded image to have one source and not just copy when duplicating these images. Copy only when a change is made to a copy of the embedded image. I like to make multiple versions of some artwork that may contain a raster image embedded and when i copy that artwork it makes another copy of that unchanged embedded image along with the copied vectors, causing a significant increase in file size when that raster image is still the same. I could use linking but file management gets harder with absolute links. Either use the same info in the file for copies of images or allow relative paths of links.

7. Wrap the location of a link to see the full address, without the need to resize the panel to see it whole

   Links panel expands uselessly to the right. Make the addresses in the links panel wrap inside the width of the panel as set by the user. As it is, if the address is long we lose site of the tools (relink, go to, edit, etc.) of the right side of the screen and have to drag the panel back into view. Please...

8. Option to sort font list randomly instead of alphabetically

   I find myself using fonts that start with the letter A very frequently... The ability to sort the font list randomly would introduce some variety into my designs I think. Sometimes I'm looking for a font by name, but often I find myself scrolling through the list to see what catches my eye. I think sorting the list randomly would help with this.

9. Adaptive pressure variation for the Blob Brush

   I would love to define the size variation of the Blob brush with percent instead of pt.

   It´s pretty anoying when I´m painting with e.g. 6pt brush and a size variation by pen pressure of 3pt ( 50%) and after changing brushsize to 3pt the pressure variation stays at 3pt. So i have to manualy adjust it to 1 or 2 pt.

   It would be great to give it a percentage so I could define it maby with 60% to have the same feeling how the pen pressure effects the brush size when scaling the brush up and down (there should be shortcuts for scaling the brush!).

    Can be changed in Preferences > General > Use Precise cursors.
    Also it can be easily switched on the fly with a press of Caps Lock — and this is the common reason for it to change.

11. Adding Scale next to Units in Preferences

    I would like to be able to work with scales. For example sometimes I design large objects that don't fit the working area and using scales would be much easier to have a real idea of the dimensions of the object. I would like to be able to choose scales 1:5, 1:25, 1:50 and see the scaled dimension in "Properties/Transform" .

13. Guide Labels

    I would love the ability to label my guides. In fact maybe a hole overhaul to the guide system. In After Effects and Premiere you can add Composition Markers, give them comments and adjust their perimeters. It would be great if you could do that for guides.

    On the rulers will show a marker. Double clicking the marker will bring up the Guide Controls. or when you select 'New Guide' from the drop down menu, Guide Controls takes place of the window that currently gets displayed.

    I would love this across all programs: Photoshop, After Effects, and the like, not just Illustrator.

14. Preference setting for a common "root" folder for add-on files

    It would be great if the Illustrator Preferences had a way to specify a central root folder for the location of (and default save location) for add-ons, such as Brushes, Graphic styles, Swatches Templates, and others. (Similar to the existing "Additional Plug-ins Folder" setting).

    Illustrator currently seems to have very scatterbrained way of handling files, which I am sure there is some history or reason for, depending on the team that happened to develop that section of code.

    Examples:

    If you save Brush, Symbol, Graphic Styles, ..., libraries, when it defaults to want to save under a long winding path, that at least is in a user-area.
    Such as "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 25 Settings\en_US\x64\Symbols".
    I blame Microsoft for the dumb Appdata location, but the path is in an area no sensible person would ever save anything. Plus, it is on the system/boot drive, where I usually do not save data. And finding the path if you want to put a brush library there is under the "hunt and peck" method.. (Hmm, is it Roaming, Local, or LocalLow I should go to.)

    Interestingly enough, if you try opening such libraries (Open [type] Library -> Other library", then suddenly it defaults to a path under the "\Program Files" install area, like "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2021\Presets\en_US[type of library]" Now a completely different location (where Illustrators own predefined Presets were installed).
    As if any added brush/symbol/styles libraries should ever be added there, since Program Files is usually a protected area that requires admin rights to write to.

    To be extra funny, if you use "Save as Template" or "New from Template", then magically it defaults to want to save or open templates from an even more goofy path

    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2021\Cool Extras\en_US\Templates".. ("Cool Extras" my foot. :-) )

    Things such as Actions, have no default. Both Load and Save actions dumps you to a default of "This PC", on Windows.

    First problem with all these paths are that they are either program version (year) specific, or version specific (like the Appdata "Illustrator Settings 20xx" paths).
    Second problem, that some are in user areas, some are in program/system areas.
    Third problem, that it makes it very difficult to remember where everything should be put, if you create or buy a new item. Unless you want to keep hunting for Illustrator's preferred location.

    So, hence the wish for a way to define a common root-folder Preference setting, where all Illustrator add-ons should be default saved, default opened.

    Personally, I currently resort to creating Shortcuts in all these locations, pointing to where I really keep my brushes/swatches/templates/...
    Like "Local Templates" and "Local Brushes" shortcuts (symbolic links) that in one extra click can send me where I really keep all my stuff.

    Under my personal resource space I then have a root folder for Illustrator (Illustrator-Adds), which has subdirectories for each type. See attached.

    One problem with this scheme is, that when a new Illustrator version comes out (year number or major version number), then I have to go through all the locations and create new shortcuts again, since in the Adobe install scheme, suddenly all the default paths (using year or major version number (23, 24, 25) in the path) have magically changed again.

    It would be great if the Illustrator Preferences had a way to specify a central root folder for the location of (and default save location) for add-ons, such as Brushes, Graphic styles, Swatches Templates, and others. (Similar to the existing "Additional Plug-ins Folder" setting).

15. Batch Copy Transform Data (Dimensions, Location, Rotation) between Objects

    I often need to update assets by swapping in objects, placed to match existing position, dimensions and rotation data. Would it be possible to copy all transform data at once rather than one attribute at a time?

    Blender is an example of software that does this well.
    (Pardon me if this has already been requested, or there is a better existing way to do this. I haven't yet found either.)

17. Enable tool palettes to ‘Show Options’ by default as a Preferences setting (all CC apps)

    I am posting this under Illustrator but it applies to many (most?) Creative Cloud apps.

    Many (most?) tool palettes only show a subset of their options by default. To see all options one has to choose the palette's popup menu and click ‘Show Options’.

    When working on a smallish screen (as I generally do on my laptop) it makes sense to frequently put palettes away, so this is incredibly annoying because the choice doesn't persist.

    When a palette has been closed or minimised, one has to do this every time one wants to access an option input that Adobe has decided is of secondary importance.

    There should be a Preferences option to disable this or make ‘Show Options’ the persistent default.

    I am posting this under Illustrator but it applies to many (most?) Creative Cloud apps.

18. Add Embroidery Digitizing Features

    Please add the ability to do embroidery digitizing within this program; including the ability to export in the most common embroidery file types. If not, a standalone program added to Creative Cloud would be greatly appreciated. This would be especially useful on Macs, because there aren't as many software programs that specialize in digitizing as there are on PC.

19. Allow font size, leading to be blank in paragraph & character styles (as in InDesign).

    In InDesign, you can leave the font size of a paragraph or character style blank, allowing you to apply a style while preserving the font size that's already set (critical for different sized documents). In Illustrator, while you can create a style with a blank size, it automatically reverts to 12pt.

20. I would like to be able to set the grid origin when editing a symbol.

    If I open a symbol from the symbols window, the grid position is always offset from the origin of the symbol. It is not currently possible to set the grid origin here. Why doesn't the grid origin set to the registration point of the symbol? At least an option to do this would be great.
