  1. Add option to change stroke/font units faster

    For my workflow I constantly need to change the unit of strokes between points and inches. It would be nice to add a way to change them in 1 click rather than going Edit > Preferences > Units every single time. Not a huge change but would be quite convenient and probably fairly easy to implement. We can currently set the unit of the whole document in a window, but not things like stroke/font. Could just add the option to the existing stroke window like the attached picture.

  2. .obj asset file multiple group/layer hierarchy

    It’s very cool that you can export 3d models as obj - when I try to import the obj file Into blender, the group objects become scattered and lose there positioning that I have created - please make it so that when I import the file all of the objects are together / grouped as I intended and not scattered - great job on the new update 👍🏻

  3. For the love please make it an option to group layers like in Photoshop. Sublayers just get super confusing.

    Just like you do in Photoshop, please make it an option to make a folder to group your layers. You can keep sublayers, it's just my layers are constantly getting mixed up because of sublayers and it's just not easy to use.

  4. show swatch folders in recolor artwork panel

    In the recolor artwork panel when you double click the color on the right to determine what the color is being changed to, you can choose from swatches by then clicking on swatches. But, it's just a list of all of the swatches with no indication of which swatch folder the swatches are in. This makes recoloring difficult at times

  5. Pen tool - just double click last point to stop drawing (and leave path open)

    It used to be (many versions ago) that if I was drawing with the pen tool, all I had to do is double click my last point, and it would end that graphic, leaving it open, and leaving the tool ready to draw another line. Now the only way to stop seems to be to hit return (which is awkward since I am right handed), go hit another tool, or use a keystroke. All of these take more time and break my train of thought.

  6. Bullets & Numbering in Shortcuts

    The menu items for bullets and numbering are not in "Edit shortcuts" At least not in the German version of Illustrator.

    Could they perhaps be made available for shortcuts?

  7. Fast way to make multiple text boxes

    I like to break up words and phrases in to multiple text boxes so I can move them freely. It would be nice to have a fast way while typing out the phrase to break it in to more than one text box. Like a “command + enter” type thing that instead of going to a new line it goes to a new text box.

  9. Unnecessary rectangles upon embedding from the Library

    After embedding an object from the library, it appears a transparent outline around the object itself. This creates issues while exporting in DWG for instance, but also in the drawing modification in Illustrator, as we have to remove manually this outline object by object

  11. Stroke width profiles stored with files, not with app

    Currently, variable stroke width profiles are stored within the app, not within the file. So when I want to work on a cloud file on another computer, I have to manually add profiles to the saved profiles dropdown again from existing strokes, because they are no longer available.

    And while you're at it, add sorting, exporting and importing options to the variable width panel, it is seriously frustrating having to go through all of them every time - if you commonly use this feature, the list can get quite long.

  12. Please make live paint more convenient!

    To fill in my drawing outlines or an object, I have to select the section of outlines or shapes first, which is dumb, because in selecting the outlines or shapes, the color fill automatically changes to the color whatever is selected (the color of the stroke or shape's outline, that I want to fill in with a different color. This is made even more frustrating when I have to use the eyedropper to select a fill color, only for my color section to immediately change, upon reselecting the shape outlines I intended to fill in.

    It is also a pain…

  13. Placed psd layer comps keep their visibility regardless of color space(s)

    Make layer comp visibility overrides work regardless of color space. When placing layer comps from PSD, the color spaces for both documents need to be the same in order for the layer comp visibility overrides to be sticky in AI. If one is CMYK and the other is RGB, and the layer comps are changed, the placed comps do not keep their original comp visibility overrides.

  15. "Duplicate artboard" command should have option to create duplicate artwork on its own layer, not double all the assets in the file structur

    Currently when user chooses "Duplicate artboard" command, all of the assets on all layers and sub-layers get duplicated where they are within that layer hierarchy. To make for better asset organization, "Duplicate artboard" should have an option to create a new layer and put all of the duplicated assets in the same layer/sub-layer hierarchy there so then both sets of assets are independent in the layers window.

  16. Source/origin paths and follower paths

    I'm looking for a way to set a certain layer/path as the origin so when I duplicate and change the original path, the rest will automatically update.

    This would for example be useful in iterative design workflow to quickly change designs and/or clipping mask instances where you need multiple copies of the same path, but only wish to edit one

  17. Exporting files - range settings resetting for different file types

    Is it possible for the page 'range' to reset when exporting different file types? It's really frustrating when I've been exporting a few single pages to jpeg for example, and then when exporting a PDF of the document it retains the page range. It's a small issue, but is pretty annoying!

  18. Scale Obect or group of objects base on two reference points (similar as in CAD)

    This is useful when you need to exactly match the scale of two objects or especially group of objects. Say you have changed the scale in one file but have received a new file from a client that is in the original scale. You want to quickly match the scale change. If you have at least one reference line that hasn't changed, you can pick two reference points on the new object(s) and then the two matching points on the scaled file. This matches the the scale exactly. This can also be used in many other ways.

  19. Color swatch import bug

    To illustrate the bug - I have a file named logo and a file named base. Both have swatches named PRIMARY and SECONDARY (see attached). As I place the logo into the base file - even as a preview - the PLACED file adopts the swatch colors of the base file. I literally need to do the opposite. I need the base file to adopt the swatches of the placed file. Needs to have an option to REPLACE swatches.

  20. Make the 'Create PDF Compatible File' tickbox permanent or lockable.

    Make the 'Create PDF Compatible File' tickbox permanent or lockable.

    Without this being ticked, I can't see any thumbnails of my illustrator files, which is completely disruptive to work flow. I'd like to request that users be able to lock this tick box to ticked status.

    Currently, it's 'sticky': whatever you did last time sticks. Unless you open a doc that was saved without it checked.

    Working in a studio, I handle all kinds of files made by all kinds of people, and time is of a premium.

    'Sticky' but with a fin-print-style 'but' that requires you to be vigilant…
