Merge swatches with right-click
In InDesign you can right-click in the swatches panel and select 'Merge Swatches' (among many other things).
In Illustrator there is no right-click menu at all, you have to click the fly-out.
Adding the right-click menu (or even the ability add a keyboard shortcut to things in the fly-out) would be helpful as we get a lot of files with duplicate colors or need to convert odd mixes/incorrect names to true Pantones so our rips will recognize them. We do a lot of merging.
Thank you!

Toolbar saving and reset. Workspace including keyboard shortcuts.
Nice that you can make your own toolbar. But why didn't you make it like in Photoshop? You can save it to a file, so it would be possible to reset if I make a mistake: then I just reload it. The interface of Photoshop is easier to understand. And when you're working on this: why can't I just reset the toolbar to what has been saved previously?
Also about the interface: nice that I can make my own keyboard shortcuts, but I would like to save that in my workspace, along with my tools and my panels.

Select a few words at the same time / non-contiguous text selection
I would like the ability to select single words at the same time in a document (helpful to put emphasis on words e.g. bolder text).

Export Individual Layers separately
Now we can only export the multiple art boards on one layer at a time. Please make it possible to select more than one layer and export those to files.
It would save a ton of time when we have multiple images to export from like dartboards stacked up on multiple layers.

gcode
Hello!
I would be absolutely DELIGHTED if you could introduce a way to export G-Code from Illustrator. I have a laser engraver (Cubiio) and the only way I can turn vectors into G-Code at the moment is by using Inkscape and an extension by J Tech Photonics. I hate Inkscape with a passion so I grind my teeth every time. This is what I have to resort to when working with vector files that I would like to convert: https://cubiio.muherz.com/gcode_instruction.html
There is a G-Code extension available for Illustrator, created by https://diegomonzon.com/illustrator-to-gcode/ , but I have been unable to get it…

Export for Screens - Please add EMF as an option
I have hundreds of EPS icon files I need to convert for use in PowerPoint which means they need to be in EMF, EMZ or WMF format. The Asset Export tool is amazing and would be perfect for this task, but unfortunately EMF is not an export option. Thanks!

allow scripting access to the matrix property of symbol items
Allow script access to the matrix property for symbol items. The matrix property is available for similar classes of items, such as raster items, but not symbols. It isn't possible for a script to understand how a symbol has been rendered without it.

Asset Export Organizer
Under "Asset Export" provide an option to organize or reorder (auto alphabetize) the assets once they have been named. It gets very difficult to review my batches whenever I would like to create and replace an existing asset. It would also be great if duplicate names detection is available to avoid the same names for assets .

Export Color Codes for all colors in a file
I often have to put together style guides and have to manually (literally by hand) write down each color's codes for CMYK, RGB and HEX from Illustrator down onto a sheet of paper and then type those into the InDesign file for the style guide's color section.
It would be super helpful to be able to export a report for all of the colors used in a file and be able to see the RGB/HEX codes and the CMYK codes for each (depending on what the document color mode is set to)
Example:
Color 1:
CMYK 100, 100, 100, 100…9 votes -
Constrain angle setting doesn't work untuitively, and is rather useless
Right now, when the Constrain Angle setting is at its default value of 0°, you can hold down the Shift key to move an object along the 0°, 45°, 90°, 135°, (etc) axes. This is fine.
But if you change the constrain angle to something else, say 30° (as someone making isometric illustrations would be likely to do), then the set of constrain angles changes to 30°, 75°, 120°, 165°, etc. This is not useful. It would make much more sense for the set of constrain angles for a setting of 30° to be 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 150°,…

Never interrupt my work. Never show new features
Never interrupt my work. never show new features.
master switch for a "veteran" mode that will never interrupt you to show you stupid s**t that you already know.the dumbing down of the CC products is disgusting. you're literally driving me to work on different platforms. I've not opened premiere in a year and I'm down to only photoshop and illustrator.
Add enough pain and I'll move off of those as well. Not only that I'll probably start a YT channel for others detailing how to leave he cult of Adobe as a industry pro.

Shift Constrain to Match Photoshop 2019
Now that Photoshop 2019 has eliminated the need for Shift to constrain scaling, why hasn't Illustrator 2019 done the same? It makes no sense to be inconsistent within the family of Adobe design applications, and it is very inconvenient as well. This should have been a global modification.

Show artboard user-assigned names and numbers when exporting/saving
When saving as a PDF (and other similar activities) the dialog box will allow you to filter to certain artboards using their numbers. However if you're using lots of artboards it can be difficult to know which artboard to select. I usually have to go back through the document, activate the artboard tool to see the names, make notes of the number, and then resume my export/save. How about adding the user-assigned name along side the artboard numbers in the dialog filter. Or possibly have a list of artboards (like the artboards panel) and simply check boxes for exporting.

Editable Illustrator text in AfterEffects
For years we have been copy and pasting text from Powerpoint into AfterEffects because the Illustrator file does not open in AfterEffects with editable text. Takes us ages and introduces many errors.
Illustrator file text should just open in AfterEffects in 2018!

Missing Fonts Copy/Paste Font File Name in Resolve Missing Fonts Window
If Multiple fonts are missing , and all need to be activated in my font management system, I have to type in the search bar the name of the font exactly as it is spelled in order for the correct one to appear. This can be time consuming when a customer has provided multiple fonts with irregular naming conventions.
Can we have an update that makes the notices in Resolve Missing Fonts window active so it is possible to copy the name of the font exactly as it is being recognized in the program?
Thanks.

Can't edit simultaneously two several selected fills in Appearance
AI allows to select several fills in Appearance, but you can only delete or duplicate them then.
If I select two fills with Shift+click, for example, and try to apply new swatch, it would be applied to first selected fill only. If I try to add effect — it would be applied not to both, but selected only again.A related entry,
Can't select and edit two effects from two separate fills in single appearance

Align multiple icons to the center of multiple artboards
I want to align multiple icons to the center of pre-existing artboards. I don't want to have to hand select each icon and align horizontally and vertically to every single artboard.

Let me change reading direction with the vertical text tool
When using the vertical text tool (which probably was designed for asian scripts) the default textflow is from right to left (as with most asian languages, I guess). It would be need if I could change it to left to right.
Issue has also been discussed here:

Remember "Swatch options" Preview setting
Why do I have to check the box "Preview" every time I open the "Swatch options" panel? Why is this setting not remembered? I bet, lots of folks would appreciate it. Having it by default unchecked is annoying.

Curvature tool continuation tolerance
I work quite zoomed in, and when drawing close to an existing path with the curvature tool, it often picks up the end of the existing path and continues drawing from it. I'd love to be able to select the tolerance for this behaviour, so I can be more precise.
Currently I have to draw my intended path somewhere else, and move it to its intended location, or switch to the pen tool, which it more accurate.
