最近使用したものの一覧にファイルパスを表示する Display file path for Recently Used items
最近使用したもの一覧はインターフェースとして便利ですが、同一ファイル名を使用したりするケースでは判別がつかず、ファイル管理上、危険が伴うので、ファイルパスを表示するなど、どこかにユニーク情報を入れてほしい。

Artboard delete tool
This is really nitpicky but the little X at the top right of the artboard tool is too small and more often than not I end up creating a new artboard around the object at the top right of the artboard. Possibly make the cross larger or move it somewhere else to remove this problem?

Image Crop Feature
This is a bug with regards to Image crop feature in Illustrator.
While I try to unembed a cropped image (in Illustrator) and link to a PSD source file, the source PSD file gets flattened or layers get merged to a single layer. The source PSD file gets altered and damaging it.

Save to older version of EPS or AI
CS6 does not appear to allow the user to save to older versions of EPS or AI. Many vendors and designers are still using older versions, and the inability to save to older versions is creating a lot of problems.
3 votesIt should be possible to do so through File > Save As… then select the Format as .ai or .eps, then click Save. In the next dialog select the desired version from CC to Ai3.

A sane way to assign a stroke to have a color not in the default palette
If I want to assign a color from a Library to a Stroke, my only option is to make the object's background color the Library color, and then use the Swap Fill and Stroke button.
The Stroke color menu has lots of weird buttons to import colors that I don't care about. Why not replace those buttons with like a Library Colors button, or a Recent Colors button, or heaven forbid a color dropper?
My first impression of Illustrator was that assigning colors to things is harder than in any other program I have used in my entire life. This impression remains true even today.

One time payment for package or product
This goes for all Adobe Products. I mostly use Illustrator. Bringing back a bundle, one time collection or individual services; one time payment instead of monthly.

Illustrator - Trace image and turn in to an editable path instead of shapes
I would love to be able to take my drawings and use the live trace feature (or maybe even a feature within the Illustrator app??) that would allow me to trace my hand-drawn sketches (on paper) and turn them into line paths instead of outlined shapes. This way, I don't have to trace my images again, once they are in Illustrator. It would be a huge time saver!
3 votesThere are options for image tracing in AI. Extended panel gives you an ability to select Strokes instead of Fills. Tweaking these can help you with that. Please comment back if you think these should be refined.

Please, oh, please update Free Distort
Ah the free distort tool...
Maybe the only Ai tool to feel like it's trapped in the 90s. Please, oh, please can we get an update to this function! I still have a lot of use cases for this tool and would love to see this done outside of a dialog box so you can see your edits in context and live. Going to a fiddly little dialog box where you can't see surrounding elements is not the one! Having a live, on-canvas version of it would definitely make adjustments more intuitive and contextual.
Great tool but need's bringing into the modern day!
Thanks,

Allow targeting layers with no unlocked/visible paths in them.
You can target a layer to apply an appearance by clicking on the circle to the right of its name in the Appearance palette.
This is not possible, however, if the layer is empty.
This is also not possible if the only thing the layer contains is empty layers.
This is also not possible if all the children of the layer are locked. Or invisible.
There must be at least one unlocked, visible non-layer object in a layer before you can target it.
I am most often annoyed by trying and failing to target a layer with a bunch of locked child layers in it, but I would like to see all of these restrictions lifted, so that it's much easier to apply effects to nested layer structures.

Need Save As... in Edit Toolbar options
I use saved toolbars, but they are tedious to create because when you click New toolbar... you get a blank toolbar and then have to add each tool one by one. I would like to open an existing toolbar (like Advanced) and have the option to Save As... under a new name - then, I can remove the tools I don't want and save it. Better to work from a starting point, than have to start from scratch.

Create a symbol without replacing art with the symbol.
I would like a switch in the New Symbol dialogue to allow me to leave the original art on the canvas instead of replacing it with a symbol.
Also it would be nice to be able to make a symbol out of the entire contents of a layer nested in another layer without the entire layer being replaced by the symbol.
I use symbols in weird ways and both of these behaviors annoy the heck out of me.

ZWNJ (Zero Width Non-Joiner)
Please enable the shortcut for ZWNJ (Zero Width Non-Joiner), It's commonly used in Arabic and Persian Language. In other programs, we can type it by Ctrl+Shift+2 or Shift+Space ...

Between "کتاب" and "ها" is a ZWNJ character, without that it will join:

A Node View mode for the Appearance Palette, and a complete revamp of what it can do.
I feel like I have a lot of things I want changed about the Appearance palette that cannot be done in the form of a one-dimensional list of effects.
I'd like to suggest something inspired by the "node view" in programs like Blender or Toon Boom or Unreal. Give me a 2d canvas upon which I can arrange strokes, fills, and effects, and let me plug them into each other in complex ways. Let me control exactly when a brush is applied to a stroke by moving its effect around. Let me dynamically generate an opacity mask for an entire object, and another one for three of the seven fills and strokes I have on it. Let me generate complex pieces of plumbing that do crazy things based on me drawing one simple path.
Keeping the Appearance palette around and adding a new Appearance Nodes palette would be fine. Or it could be a new mode in the existing palette. It's also perfectly fine if the existing Appearance palette can't edit Appearance Nodes and just displays a polite apology. There's a simplicity to the existing palette that might be worth retaining, I dunno, when it gets to the point of being in a beta, ask people how they'd feel about losing the old one, and be aggressive about hunting for ways it might break existing appearance stacks - ask us for our craziest piles of native and plugin effects and build a nice set of test cases!
I am probably asking a lot here. This is feels like a big enough change to be one of the top features of an entire release. Possibly even more. It'll probably involve changing some assumptions that are made deep in the parts of Illustrator nobody understands any more. And it's entirely for the most hardcore users, who're using it in the most esoteric ways. Good luck convincing the people who control the budget that a significant part of Illustrator's development budget for a year or three should be devoted to something that's got zero noob appeal.
But after about a decade of exploring its possibilities, I'm constantly butting up against the limitations of the Appearance palette. It's time for something to change. Maybe it's just time for me to figure out how to survive a couple months of zero productivity because I'm figuring out how to turn another, younger program into something I can whip out art even half as fast as I can do it in Illustrator. And probably get animation capabilities and some amount of 3d into the bargain. I dunno. I'm fifty years old and I've loved using this program as my main art tool for half my life. Change is complicated.

Retain original, unexpanded art for pattern swatches.
"This pattern contains active content (symbols, effects, etc, it's a long list) that must be expanded to create a swatch. If you edit the pattern again, the expanded content will no longer be active."
There's a lot of clever, well-paid people at Adobe. I bet someone there can figure out how to store the original pattern art along with the expanded pattern art, and edit the former rather than the latter when I double-click on the pattern swatch. I have workarounds for this but they are tedious and annoying ones.
Also I would like to thank whoever wrote the dialogue text I quoted, it would have been so easy to just say that the pattern contains Forbidden Art and leave me to figure out exactly what triggers the warning.

Correct View > Snap to Grid shortcut from Cmd/Ctrl+" to proper Cmd/Ctrl+'
My request is a bit nerdy, but hey! I have been using Illustrator for 'ages' and one of the shortcuts is simply not correct. I always think it's cute, in a way, but still.
The shortcut to show or hide the grid is listed as Ctrl + "
This is impossible to achieve since you need the 'Shift' key to type the double quotation marks :)
So, I think it should be Ctrl + ' .
The shortcut to snap to the grid is fun in this light; it's Ctrl + Shift + "
So, I was wondering if anyone had ever thought 'Wait a minute...'Oh, and this also applies to the shortcut for 'Snap To Point', which is listed as Ctrl + Alt + "

Allow to disable 'Create PDF Compatible File' option when saving AIT templates
Compatibility with PDF takes a ton of disk space, and .ait templates don’t really need it, because these are no intended to be imported or placed — just launched. Perhaps you should disable it by default?
As I understand, these are actually just .ai files, but the different extension causes Ai to process them differently...
I don’t expect a full-blown dialog when saving, but why not?
Take a look at this related request:

Make an option to allow resizing artboards with their content to affect hidden and locked layers/objects
Current problems:
It does not resize hidden layers/objects
(huge problem, which I only realized later after unhiding a layer, and had to revert to a previous save. I see now there's a warning, but that doesn't solve the issue). It does not resize locked layers/objects
(It should work similarly to Resize Image in photoshop where everything resizes.)
2 votesIllustrator allows to affect hidden and locked object and layers when resizing artboards.
Go to Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display and enable Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option.
I’d agree it should say 'Move and Scale', and there is a separate request to allow to toggle this option right next to the buttons that enable 'Move/Copy' and 'Scale' modes in Control and Properties panels — please upvote it.
