1. Ability to Set Scratch Disks on Startup

   Our users need to change their Scratch Disk settings from the default Startup to a different drive in order for Illustrator to work correctly in our environment. This is more problematic now since our Mac Pro's have small SSDs. The fact that users have to launch Illustrator, navigate to preferences, change this setting, and then relaunch Illustrator before the Scratch Disk settings take effect is irritating. Unfortunately, in our environment this setting does not stick, so every time our users log in to a different computer they need to make this change.

   Please add a feature, similar to Photoshop's OPT + CMD key sequence, that will allow users to pick a scratch disk location on startup.

2. Proportional Push & Rotate Tool

   I’m relatively new to Illustrator, not sure if such a feature already exists, but I’d like to suggest a tool that allows selected objects to be proportionally pushed away from the group’s center point or a custom pivot point — without scaling them — and optionally rotate them around that same point. For rotation, it would be great to have options whether the objects keep their own rotation (independent) or rotate as children following the group’s rotation. Additionally, it would be helpful to allow setting horizontal and vertical movement ratios (e.g., move 1 unit horizontally while moving 0.35 units vertically) for the push-away action.

3. Workspace layout seems to constantly change over time. Keep it more fluent and natural

   I can arrange workspaces, rearrange them, add new ones, remove some and so on and on and on. My issue is that somehow, the tools and panels I want are never at hand when I need them.

   It's so subtle that I can't put my finger on the exact issue. But it's suddenly occurred to me that as far as I can remember, I'm always rearranging the workspace layout in Illustrator to get the tools I need, but I don't have this issue in other Adobe apps. I've been using Illustrator as my core graphic design tool for around 8/9 years.

   This has slowly been dawning on me. I think there's a lot of things going on here.

   • Issue: For Premiere Pro I can sync workspaces to my account. I presumed this is standard behaviour for all Adobe apps. However I have always used the same account and I have several times over the years set up custom workspaces in Illy. But I've just looked now and I can't see any - I don't know when they disappeared or why but it's happened.

   • Solution: synchronise workspaces to my Adobe account. Keep them there regardless of Illustrator version. Sync to all computers using my account.

   • Issue: Popups. In more recent years, I seem to get popups appear about once a week about something that I'm not at all interested in, usually some irrelvant new feature. I open Illustrator to work, not to play around with the latest features.

   • Solution: please get rid of these popups and tutorials unless I ask for them. The things I do in Illy, I know how to do. If I don't know a feature, I probably don't use it.

   • Issue: Sometimes the workspace opens on the same one as last time when I open Illustrator. Sometimes it doesn't. Not sure what the expected behaviour is here, but usually it seems to open on "Essentials". Every time, I switch to "Essentials Classic" and then add any other panels I need. Unless I have a custom workspace that hasn't disappeared yet.

   • Solution: every time I open Illustrator, switch to the last workspace I was using.

   • Issue: Over time as UI design changes, the workspaces change too. I get it, you add more features, you play around with the default workspaces. But please don't make it affect me.

   • Solution: Add more features if you like but don't push them out to my workspaces unless I want them. Ask me if I want to switch / update workspaces.

   • Issue: Workspaces always seem to be resetting and panels I add to my workspace disappear next time I open Illy.

   • Solution: Auto save changes to workspaces as they're made. Even default workspaces, just save the changes.

   That's just a few things that are obvious to me. But the whole workspace just seems to fluctuate often, and I just want to get the tools up that I use and keep them handy instead of rebuilding my workspace every time I open Illustrator.

4. How to select non filled shapes just by clicking on their surface?

   How can I select a shape/object without a fill just by clicking on its surface?
   I don't want to click on the stroke, since that's slower and less practical than clicking on the middle of the shape, I don't want to click on layers nor any slower way to do it.

   If what I want is not possible, then that would be a very clear sign that Adobe is very, VERY stubborn against selecting by clicking on the middle of the shapes, for no reason at all, since there's no problem in putting an option for it on the settings window.

   Don't get me wrong, I love a few things on Illustrator, like the Hand tool working by holding its key or the Ctrl, Shift, and Alt tool modificators/changers, I love these things, but I just can't be selecting shapes by using unnecessararily complicated ways.

5. Easier access to typekit options

   I noticed that the link to the external typekit web app is no longer in the type (character) tool box. I see how the whole mechanism to search is more integrated but its still harder to scroll through font weights, type custom sample text etc. I just think there could be a link to the external web app right there in the tool box still even with the updated integration so you have the option to search differently. I see that you can still get to that web app but it feel more clunky for my work flow than it used to be!

6. Eyedropper needs to sample the flattened color, not the object that I click on

   Many many times, when I use the eyedropper, I wish that it was sample the actual color of what I am seeing on the screen, rather than whatever the top object is that I have clicked on. For example I might have a number of layers of transparency, or I might want to click a particular value in a gradient, but the result only gives me the color of the object that I clicked on. Is there a way that you could hold down a modifier key and the eyedropper would instead select the color of the displayed pixel that I clicked on? Incredibly useful!

   currently I have to make a screen grab, and then paste it, and then sample from the screen grab. Lame.

   You can hold Shift to to sample the flattened color.

7. In multi-column text box, Page Break command does not work

   When I make a Area Type Text Box with Many Columns Page Break [return key] does not work.

8. Easier access to Tools

   Please rework the tools palette. Some ideas:

   1. make it easy to use the full height of the monitor to show more tools

   2. make it possible to select / activate tools directly through the All Tools overview, even when they are already loaded in the tools palette. It's inconvenient and annoying to watch an icon blink and then have to go into that to select a hidden tool.

   3. make it possible to drag tools from All Tools that are already in the tools palette. Dragging should result in the desired tool on the desired spot, and remove it from the other position.

   4. add Search to All Tools

   5. add a favorites / recent used Tools section. Just like in the Swatches palette.

   6. make it easy to switch to the previous tool with a key (see how Cinema4d utilizes that technique)

   Please rework the tools palette. Some ideas:

9. Allow to set text format for CMYK values and other data in Swatch Info objects

   The data for CMYK values in cards inside of Swatch Info is formatted with commas.
   I’d like to have the ability to customize it: spaces, hyphens, as C100 M50 Y0 K0, etc.

10. Add Image Trace presets for QR codes and other barcodes

    One of the most common issues I have is receiving QR codes or barcodes from a customer as low-resolution JPEGs or PNGs. Asking customers to understand which formats from online generators are vector formats is always an issue.

    While I know I can technically regenerate the QR code with an online generator, it feels like a natural extension of the existing Image Trace function to be able to recognise QR codes or barcodes and to snap the vector artwork to a proper grid.

    This could be implemented with something like "snap points to 90° angles" or something, but I think the better outcome would be built-in support for recognising the QR code or UPC codes and re-rendering it nicely as part of the operation.

11. Please add automated color bar, separation color information - Print PDF output

    Hi! I am missing a choice in PDF save or export. In the print industry is needed to add colour information for the customer, what colours is the artwork made from - esp. when we use solid colours. Customers need this for the approval process so we have to add this colour-bar manually. In the PDF (composite PDF) window there are Marks and Bleed choices, but there is missing a choice to choose a colour information automatically generated from the document colours - separations. The colour information can be graphical (squares with separation names) or text based (separation name in that colour).

12. Adobe Draw Mode in Adobe Illustrator

    1. Description
       Insert "Adobe Draw Mode" into Adobe Illustrator.
       Bring into the Illustrator the same results and functions that the application of the Ipad has, such as presets of pressures and brushes that most of the time the result is ideal.

    2. Why is this valuable to you?
       Because this will make vector illustrations with rewarding and much faster results.
       To solve problems of paths with thicknesses and pressures as we need.

13. escape full screen

    Why does the Escape key exit the user from full screen mode in Illustrator. Why does Illustrator not behave like Photoshop?

    The F key could cycle through the different screen modes: Full screen, Full Screen with Menu Bar, Full Screen Mode.

    Escape should have no effect on this because it's used while drawing or typing.

14. For personal workspace and palette preferences carry over to updates.

    I have a highly customized workspace for my workflow. It would be nice to cary over all of settings and preferences from the previous version. With the rapid release of beta versions, it becomes a big issue and I lose a lot of time resetting my environment to accommodate my existing workflow.

    If this already exist, please tell me how to address it. Thanks!

15. ✋"Handedness-Modes" FOR EVERYONE! 🖑SAVE THE LEFTIES! ✋🖑 ✌ DEF LEPPARD ROCKS!!!

    Handedness is often overlooked. Also, it is scientifically less-understood.

    DEAR ADOBE: You are uniquely positioned to study handedness in a way that has potentially never been more insightful. Please invest in tech-development, research, and design to make your tools unique, more efficient, and more useful for left-handed, right handed, ambidextrous, or custom users (either hand preferences, foot pedals, or other). This includes interface, hotkeys, and mental models, interactivity, etc. Potentially, a "righty" could learn from "lefty"mode. And vice-versa. "Everyone/standard" mode is critical. However, why not introduce development towards understanding and helping HUMANITY understand handedness. Also, Some users may not have hands. Shout out to Def Leppard!

    Similar to the way a piano has pedals, It would be nice to have a toggle mode for entirely overhauling the ENTIRE ADOBE CC Suite (potentially controlled from the CCpanel).

    Handedness is not black and white. If integrating artificial intelligence into the responsive palette/interface, please consider handedness as CRITICAL!

    For example: I use a mouse right handed, but write left-handed.

    It would be great to have hotkey mode for left-handed typing (using a right-handed mouse)
    If I switch to use my tablet, it would be great to toggle everything to left-handed hotkey mode.

    Occasional popups with questions asking preferences in each mode could further enhance the experience. "learn my handedness mode" could be like syncronizing the original "nintendo duck hunt' gun prior to 'gameplay'

    Regardless, some [of my favorite or] likely most-frequent hotkey combinations are nearly impossible with one hand.

    For such functions, "Create a new button" feature would be OUTSTANDING! "Create your handedness palette" and add buttons for "send object to back/front" or anything not biassed against DYSLEXIA, etc. would be WONDERFUL!

16. Opening menu customization workflow

    As an option for those starting out with Adobe Illustrator, I would like to see you develop a master menu setup process to help me find all the tools I may need for my project. It could begin by asking me/allowing me to select from a list all the things I will want to do with a new project or a newly-opened image file, Adobe or otherwise.
    Those tools and options selected would appear in a dock-able menu window.
    Then, based on known user workflows of different experience levels, Illustrator could recommend additional tools and even tutorials for the different tools and workflows selected and added from known workflows. This would also include a plain-language "where is ____?" search window for users who do not know what everything is precisely called or which menu list in which something might be located.
    Again, this new project menu customization would be an option until a user is experienced enough to know where everything is located in the extensive tool menus.

17. Export for Screen Preset system is a FIASCO

    This Preset thing is a disaster. It doesn't fix any issues I have with Export For Screens.

    It doesn't save the Folder for the export. So I have to set it every time I open my document, as Illustrator set it to the same folder as where my AI document is. This was, and now still is, my major problem with Export for Screens.

    Also, I have to select the Preset every time I open my AI file. The least I was hoping was that the settings would be saved on document basis.

    Management of presets is terrible, as you can't edit those. And it is getting quite messy when you need just a little bit more presets.

    It is impossible to export PNGs with both white and transparent background at same time, as that option is in PNG options, that will affect all the exported files. How can you make such a stupid system?

    I waited years for this updated and now I'm very disappointed. It baffles me how the developers managed to deliver such a terrible solution for simple problems.

    It seems that Illustrator developers are just incapable of understanding what users require. Possible solutions for these issues have been given many times in several threads.

    How a developer size of Adobe can fail so majestically when trying to implement some basic functionality. What The F they are doing there? Do you have the slightest idea how your apps should work?

    I sincerely hate Adobe.

    It doesn't save the Folder for the export. So I have to set it every time I open my document, as Illustrator set it to the same folder as where my AI document is. This was, and now still is, my major problem with Export for Screens.

18. Add Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X as a text modal keyboard shortcut for strikethrough text

    Recently Ai finally added hotkeys slots for text formatting (following this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/33679330) — for bold, Underline, Italics.

    We need more.
    Even though Strikethrough (as well as Underline) in Ai is very basic and does not allow customization (here is a request about both: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48103976), we need at least an empty hotkey slot for it. Most apps support Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X for this, so I suggest the same combination.

19. SVG Import Notification and/or debug log

    Short back story: My company is an online supplier of custom printed products. Customers design their order on our website which we translate into an SVG file. Our production team imports that SVG file into AI for final processing of the customers order.

    When importing SVG files to AI sometimes entire parts of the design are not imported without any notification or log of the event.

    For example, when our production team imports SVGs where the text contains an emoji we sometimes (maybe always?) find that the entire text block is no longer included in the design. This is not obvious and it requires going back and comparing the import to the original JPG rendering to notice a difference.

    Much more transparency from Adobe on how SVG importing works in general would be greatly appreciated. Right now it's incredibly painful to debug import issues.

Also, Illustrator will be able to increase its target customers. I have been using illustrator to create floor plans of building with much ease and lesser time than other software. This software has user friendly interface. So, please make it more suitable for technical drawings. Adding features to calculate area will also be very useful.
