I want to control how many pop-ups I see.
I'm just trying to work, Adobe, but all the pop-ups are driving me mad! The tool tips are fine, but to be working away and be bombarded with this pop-up telling me to share my work and then another asking if I know how to do such-and-such.... I discover new features on my own whenever the app is updated, and if I want to find out anything else, I know how to do that. I don't need constant reminding. Please, please please, Adobe, please let this be a preference setting that can be turned off.

Actions for Image Tracing
Hi Adobe, PLEASE can you add more detail to the actions. For example, when I run an image trace, I don't just want to rerun the last one as I have different presets. I want to be able to say use the "Outline Fills" Image Trace and expand. Additionally these should be able to be adjusted later by double clicking the action line - like photoshop does
Thank you!

Duplicate Artboard should place the new artboard inside the canvas if possible
"Duplicate Artboard" always tries to place the new artboard to the right of the selected artboard which often makes it fall outside of the canvas, failing with the error " Cannot create artboard outside the canvas. Please rearrange and try again." "New Artboard" does not have this problem. Please have duplicate artboard use new artboard's placement logic.

Respect clip groups in pattern brushes
We can put a rectangle with no-fill and no-stroke under a tile art of a pattern brush to tell Illustrator about the bounds we want to use.
Also, we can clip the tile art with a copy of this rectangle. When used together, this allows to create a tile which is clipped and uses the bounds we expect... Well, almost — the preview of the tile in the dialog is going to be wrong, but the preview of the brush itself and the way brush behaves is going to be correct.
But without the bottom copy Illustrator won’t respect the clipping group’s bounds — while there is no reason to not to. Ai should limit the tile to the clipping bounds, an not the bounds of the clipped content automatically.

Edit Original Link Image in contextual menu
It would be a lot less clicks if one could right-click an image file and have "edit image" be in the contextual menu. Currently, click the object, go to links palette, click on the little pencil icon... photoshop launches... Kind of labor intensive...

Extract missing links from Ai editable PDF when opening it in Illustrator
PDF's saved from illustrator with 'preserve illustrator editing capabilities' do not embed any linked raster images in the Illustrator compatible component. When the PDF is opened in illustrator for editing, a message alerts that the links are missing, and low res images show when opened. The links are present in the PDF portion of the file and can be extracted manually and relinked. Might be a big ask, but it would be more ideal that Illustrator recognises the links are contained within the file, and is able to extract them automatically and embed them into the Illustrator component during opening.

Opacity mask detection and text inside
Sometimes we need to convert all text in the document to shapes (Create Outline) to be in the save side in print process.
When we have opacity masks that have text inside the mask layer, we can't edit it until we find the mask. Sometime, we receive documents that we didn't make ourselves and it will be not be easy to find all masks.
The suggestion is to:
- Have a command to find out all opacity masks.
- Have a command to select text in the whole document even inside the masks.6 votes -

Numbered List - Choose at which number we wish to start the list.
Hi, It would be great if we could rearrange the order of lists for Numbered List options.
You choose which "Levels" the numbering is but what if under that you would have the option to select at which number to start, 2...3...4 or whatever number we wish to insert.

Share only certain artboards for new feedback option
Currently, I have several artboards in Illustrator and I want to share my designs for feedback but I only want to include certain artboards for feedback. Right now when I click share and generate a link it just automatically includes all artboards. It would be nice to have the option to select the artboards you want to include for review. See screenshot for a mockup.

Add option to scale point type from the baseline, rather than bounding box
It would be really useful to be able to scale text from the baseline - often I have text positioned in a layout and want to resize it, but as it scales from the bounding box it then requires lining up again.
I'd suggest a tool that allows the user to scale from the text baseline. for multiline text there would probably need to be a way of selecting which line to scale from - maybe a first / last line toggle, and an option of placing a cursor and that would be the line to scale from?
I know you can currently use the scale tool and click on the text anchor, but I find that really imprecise when working with small adjustments.
The value would be time saving when iterating layouts, particularly with things where you're rebuilding artwork from reference and need to get type sized correctly and lined up.
Cheers!

Ability to change canvas color
Ability to change background behind art board to any greyscale that works for old tired eyes, independent of the interface setting. I prefer a dark interface with a white art board but a light gray background.

Create square artboards with Shift held when no artboards are selected
Artboard tool does a lot of things: selects, creates, moves,.. we are out of modifiers to control it properly. Specifically, we can’t create square artboards with the natural way we can create square paths, circles with Ellipse tool, like in many applications.
Instead, Ai uses Shift key to select artboards if you start holding Shift before clicking (which is fine) and uses ratio of the last selected artboard if you hold it while dragging (who even uses it?)
What if you let us to create square artboards, when no artboards are selected, but Shift is held? The alternative is to get rid of proportions lock completely.

Convert a Grid Repeat object to a pattern filled rectangle
As mentioned by Von Glitschka at https://twitter.com/Vonster/status/1530587235375927296 it would be great to have an automatic conversion of a grid repeat object into an exactly same looking artwork, but made with a rectangle filled with a newly generated pattern swatch a user can continue to work with.
Yes, we can expand it, release the clipping mask, find the module, clean the unnecessary duplicates, create a swatch, fill the former clipping mask with it, match the positioning exactly... all manually, or with a help of a script maybe.... but who does not like easy solutions? We do.

Allow clipping paths to have complex appearances.
Currently, a clipping path can only have one stroke, one fill, no effects, no brushes, no multiple fills/strokes. Well, it can have all the fills, strokes, effects, and other stuff your heart desires, but only one fill and one stroke will be displayed.
I would really like this to change. I use a lot of complex appearance stacks and working around this makes things complicated.
To make this play nicely with existing art, there probably needs to be a switch somewhere for backwards compatibility with existing art that may have a lot of complex appearances on clipping masks.
There also probably needs to be some support for deciding exactly where the masked art goes with regards to multiple fills. Probably by putting the usual "Contents" entry into the Appearance panel for clipping paths.
I don't have a feeling right now on how bitmap effects should alter a clipping path's actual clipping area, but I do feel like vector effects applied to the entire path, whether above all the fills/strokes, or below them, should alter the clipping area.

OBJECT > TRANSFORM > ROTATION to work with 4 decimals
When selecting OBJECT > TRANSFORM > ROTATE...manually entered rotation angles are truncated to 2 decimal places. I experience a loss of pattern repeat with that kind of truncation across large pattern rolls. If we could manually enter 4 decimal places, that would be extremely helpful to my work!

Paste Remembers Layer from Indesign To Illustrator
When pasting from Indesign to Illustrator it would be very handy if there was a remember way to keep layers intact instead of flattening them onto one layer? Maybe a dialogue box that just okays the action?

Masked image active area limited to mask shape
Hi, it would be such an improvement in usability if a masked image was only selectable within the mask shape. Currently the entire image is still 'active' and when you click any part of it inside or outside the mask it can be selected. This means when you have multiple masked images close to each other (especially when a tight crop is used, meaning a larger part of the image is hidden but selectable) there are overlaps of images that require locking of individual images or reordering of arrangement to put images in front or behind one another just to select the element you want. Masked images are simple to use in InDesign because they limit selection to the mask shape, with the option of then selecting the entire image if want to move or resize it within the mask. In fact, the entire way masks are handled in InDesign is superior as it doesn't require locking and unlocking the mask in order to resize or move the masked image within it.
