Copy / paste not working - breaks text formatting and usually drops any vector content as well. This happens whether the copy/paste is within one Illustrator file or between two. VERY frustrating. I've found that I can occasionally get it to work by copying and pasting within the same document (everything must be grouped as one), and if it is successful, quickly copy the pasted version and then it might paste into the other Illustrator file.
Solution from support was to downgrade from 24.4 to 24.01. This seems to have done the trick - but now I can't allow CC…

Lines form while moving canvas
Every time I move the canvas down using the hand tool or scrolling up, these weird horizontal lines of color like 1 pixel high drop like some delay previewing or something. It's not easy to explain.
I don't experience this in any other Adobe program.

Crash on open/new documenti after window 10 update 4560960
After 4560960 update, illustrator crashes on open or new document.
Uninstalling update does fix it.Windows 10 home, all latest updates applied, happens on 10 machines, all different hardware.
Not sure if illustrator or windows bug. For now delayed updates for a week, hoping in a fix soon.

The document "annoyingbug.ai" is currently getting saved. Try again after the process is complete.
"The document "annoyingbug.ai" is currently getting saved. Try again after the process is complete." This pops up when you use save as while there is a save currently going on.
This dialog box was removed when closing the document in 24.1.1. Can we also get it removed when using save as?
Would be nice if the save as started once the current save is done like in previous versions.

embedded images cause longs delays in opening file illustrator 24.0.2
When opening some files with embedded images, there are very long delays before the file finally opens.
I have had success when I flatten the embedded image, it then opens fine.

Embedding multiple .psd files
Embedding multiple .psd files no longer works in 2020. Previous versions would allow you to multi-select linked .psd's and embed them all at once. 2020 allows multi-selection, but only converts the first linked image.

Illustrator 2019- always making a selection
When I want to use the application, illustrator decides it wants to draw a selection. If I reach out of the workspace to use the toolbars or panels, it will draw a selection from on the artboard to my cursor, as if I were clicking and dragging. If I click back onto the artboard to disengage the selection and try to use the panels, it will make a new selection from the point I clicked. This renders the program unusable. There is also a lot of lag when navigating menus, and the cursor will decide to stick to the scrollbars…

eyedropper does not pick brushes
the eyedropper tool will not pick up and the selected brush that was applied to another line.

Object Selection by Path Only broken with symbols
In Preferences, under Selection and Anchor Display, check Object Selection by Path Only.
Create or open a document.
Drag a symbol out of the Symbol panel. Choose one with a large filled area.
Zoom in on the symbol.
With either of the 3 selection tools, drag over a filled part of the symbol. Do not drag over any paths.
It doesn't matter whether you're viewing in Outline or Preview.
The symbol becomes selected.
It should not become selected due to the prefs option noted above.
It worked correctly in v22 & CS6 etc. It's been close to a year with…2 votes -

Simplify Path Creates New Shape on a New Layer on Each Adjustment
Hi! I was trying to use the Simplify Path tool in the latest Illustrator 2019 (23.0.6) and I am getting this weird error. If I have the preview mode selected, each time I make an adjustment in the dialog box a new layer is created. By default, it selects that new shape to update the path without a clear way to go back unless you go to the original layer and begin again in which the whole process starts over. If this is supposed to be an improvement in the feature I'm not quite sure how? Please let me know…

Workspace basics are not appearing and I can't reset workspace
Basically the title I can only use stuff I have remembered by hotkeys and the option to reset isn't available, I am even unable to change the layout I use entirely, I am new to illustrator and this is very frustrating.

randomly shutting off and not saving
so im in a digital arts class at my school so i dont know much about the computers, i am was working on a project and i was just about finished with my outline after 1 hour 32 minutes of work and the Illustrator just shuts off randomly and i go to open the app back up again and it didn't save. This better get fixed, and if it doesn't me and my teacher aggreed we will go to something else if we have to.

Expanding compound path causes a shift in the object shape
If I call Expand on a compound path, there is a shift in the width and height of the object. This seems to only be a problem when the stroke is in the center. If the stroke is inside or outside, there isn't a problem.
2 votesIllustrator can display width and height values respecting the width of strokes and effects, if you enable Use Preview Bounds option in Preferences > General. It also makes bounding box larger to fit them visually, hence the change in dimensions.
When it’s off, only geometric shape is taken into account, ignoring stroke width or effects.
When you expand the shape, the stroke is not a stroke anymore, but a filled path, that makes the overall group geometrically larger. -
Opening and placing .psd artwork not working consistently as described in documentation.
importing images from .psd files intermittently not working as described. When opening or placing a .psd file, no option to convert layers is offered. The entire image opens right up as a single object with an opaque white background.
I have been using these packages since 1994 and this just started happening in th past few weeks. Using Windows 10, AI 23.0.6 (64-bit). PS 20.0.6 release

Can't reset bounding box on certain shapes
"Reset bounding box" is greyed out on objects that has been created with these tools: Line tool, Rectangle tool, Ellipse tool, Polygon tool, Rounded rectangle tool
It seems to work with all other objects.

Buggy strokes, unwanted anti-aliasing and wrong sizes on export.
I have just completed a project where 1800 tool icons had to be redesigned for a CAD program. Exporting my icons to single and @2x PNGs butchers my icons.
If strokes are set to outside, export to PNG invariably produces unwanted anti-aliasing on vertically or horizontally stacked pixels. (see image 1.png). I have a hunch this only occurs with documents that have over 100 artboards. It cannot be easily reproduced with a document containing only a single artboard. (if someone from tech support wants the document, let me know. I cannot share it publicly.)

Enormous issues with Illustrator 2019, OS High Sierra
Illustrator 2019 is acting very strangely. If I undo once, it goes back several steps and I cannot bring back those steps. It removes layers and artwork without any actions. When I save, it removes several actions every time.
If I quit the program completely and restart, it acts normally for a few steps and then starts the whole disappearing act again. I have re-installed the program a few times recently but the same thing keeps happening. It's extremely time-consuming and frustrating!
