Move objects always moves downwards in y direction, behaves fine in x
Selecting an object and hitting ENTER brings up the 'Move' dialog and, for a while now, negative values moved things up and positive values moved things down the y axis. Fair enough, we all got used to it. As of today, things behave differently and everything is always moved up, unless I adjust the angle in the two entry fields below. Please see attached GIF.

Please locate the 'Adobe Illustrator Prefs' file (for you current Ai version — it can be located somewhere here: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version] Settings\[locale]\x64), open it in text editor and check two flags:
/isRulerOriginTopLeft
and
/isRulerIn4thQuad
By default these are set to 1 and define which corner Ai uses for 0,0 coordinates (top left or bottom left) and if the axis should go up or down.
If you set these to 0 — Ai will behave like it was in CS4.
Here is a discussion (one of many) on community forums: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/how-to-change-the-quot-y-quot-coordinate-from-positive-to-negative-when-moving-down/m-p/11079361Make sure both these match (both 0 or both 1) and see if changing them helps in anyway. Please reply back.

Stuck with this bug and it's 2023! If I attempt to move points on an object using the Move panel, it doesn't matter if I enter positive or negative values, the points only ever move down. It's literally impossible to get points to move upwards using the move panel.

I'm still not used to it and have to think everytime I move something because it's opposite of what I did in Illustrator for years. We have our production using an older version of Illustrator and the vertical move is opposite of what I used every day so it gets confusing when I have to help them. On any other Y axis in the world, positive is up, negative is down.

A positive number in the Vertical edit field should move the object up.
Why does a negative value for a Y axis coordinate result in a positive move?
Just installed 24.01 and a positive value in the Vertical field (in Move dialog) still moves the object down (negative direction on Y axis).
In CS4, Move behaves as expected. -

Just to clarify: I don't care about the change that positive values in y direction move things down (in any CAD it's the opposite). The bug I'm seeing is that *regardless of what I enter*, objects always move UP. Only when I use the direction/degree inputs can I control where objects go.

Not everyone got used to it :(
